At last a beginners tutorial that’s actually for beginners. I am just starting, first time painter at 54. I learned so much from this thank you! Plus I just love that it’s okay to use a drawing as a base, for those of without a natural talent but lots of enthusiasm .

I just ran into your comment. After a year are you still pursuing art and painting and are you successful like you may have expected?
I'm 66 and dabbled in art throughout my life but not painting. I'm wanting to give it a shot.
What are my odds? Since you started late as well? Lol

I have been using one of the cheapest silicone cutting mats from the dollar store for a paint pallet. I simply trim it to the size of the underlying sponge sheet. Snap the top. Paint stays ready to go. Inadvertently dries? Just peel it off.

I’m retired. Other than a few arts and crafts with my kids at church for the children’s ‘sermon’ I’ve done. And at, sometime it turn out really good, better than I could imagine. Lots of teachers online but some move to quickly. Some speak the language of the artist but fail to adequately define the words. You are one of the best. Thank you for sharing your talent in a down to earth 🌎 manner. You also show us things we can be successful in doing on the first try! May not be the best leaf or rose, and your husband may think it’s an abstract. Lol 😆!!! Thanks . Look forward to all your lessons and getting stuff done. I had to retire in 2014 for medical disability and I thought painting was something I could or would excel in. Did what you shouldn’t do of course. Went out to Micheals Crafts and stared buying out the acrylics and water color aisle. Stayed away from oils as I heard it was difficult to master, like the others would be a breeze. I’ve always wanted to paint and thought I’d be good. Finding you here may help my wishes come true..

Thanks for a great tutorial for real beginners! I've been doing watercolors for a couple years and decided to try acrylics. You covered everything I didn't know I didn't know about acrylics, from squeezing the paint out of the tube and getting it on the brush to putting it on the paper, and cleaning up afterwards--all the media-specific topics you absolutely need to know but everyone else assumes you already do. And you even covered painting leaves! This is the very first acrylic tutorial I watched and I'm so glad I found it. Thanks again.

Hi Beautiful Blue! I love your back to Blue I love it on you! Just got back on line , house got hit by lightning when we were in church, Finally got internet, and most things replaced, wasn’t too bad as it didn’t take out most major appliances. I love your teaching constant. I find myself hearing you do this or not that when I’m painting. Your the Best teacher and I’ve learned so much in the short three yrs since I found you. I was so lost without my Artsherpa and Ginger Cook❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️Now it’s all rainbows from here❤️❤️🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌹🌹🌹

Ty so much for this video Cinnamon! I'm fairly new to canvas acrylic painting and this really helps.
Some people on here are SO rude using a thumbs down. This world needs prayer more than ever.

This is the first video that tells me what I've been doing wrong. Other video’s tell me: 'This can be done by any beginner, it's that easy'. So I feel stupid because I seem to be the only idiot who can't! Thank you for showing me the absolut begginners steps I need to know. The next time I paint I will use all your tips and I'm sure I will do better. Thanks again x

Just a tip I started using. I use a poly-plate as a palette. So to keep the paint "fresh" on the plate when I leave, I just get another plate and flip it upside down on top of the paint/plate. Keeps the paint fresh for a couple hours.
I think it is the open air that will dry out the paint so keeping it covered helps a lot.

I never painted before COVID restrictions force me to try something new. And I love it. To the point that now I have an after school class watching your tutorials and painting via Zoom. It would be amazing if "THE SHERPA" can lead a tutorial via zoom for us" wishful thinking? Is this possible. Please let us know.

Fantastic video for any beginner, like myself. I have always wanted to try painting, but was one who let, "intimidation," get the best of me. However, I am determined to try. So, here goes. It just so happens I was gifted paints for Christmas. So excited and a little nervous. I appreciate your words of wisdom. You are amazing at instructoring!

I just started a week ago. But I just dove rite in without knowing the preparation process. No one ever talked about canvass prep. Or wat a medium was or how to use it. Wetting the brush to make it flow better. So I just started. Couldn't figure out why my paint wasn't making thin lines. And Cleaning the brushes... I had no FREAKING clue. I " cleaned " them out I thought. But wen I went to paint my next one they wer hard and stiff . But they looked clean. I was wrong. You helped out alot. Oh and now I no more about brush control and position. You are a good teacher. I will be watching and learning more of your techniques. Thank you.
