Actually, if you take away the times Poland was broken (including temporarily by the Germans and Russians during WWII), it's a relatively new country. Yes, the Poles as a people with a common cultural identity have existed for a long time and have a country, but not a continuous span of existence.
Poland was founded in 966, how is that "relatively new"? Just because there was no Poland on maps for some time that doesn't mean that there was no continuous national identity. It's foolish to look solely on technical aspect of this situation and not take into cosidaration fact, the Polish nation was very much present and separate from its oppressors for the entirety of its existence. But even if you take out 123 years of partitions and 6 years of soviet-german occupation you are still left with 925 years which is still 3.79 times longer ten USA has been around for. Just FYI
@@Erundilme "national identity" isn't a government. the current government of Poland has only existed for the ~70 years since WWII, meaning it's probably not a monarchy. the "technical aspect" is the only part that matters for this question.

British people: I can't believe you don't know metric
Also British people: A decimeter is 100 meters
It's weird, English speaking countries that use metric don't really use decimetres.
E.g. I'm from South Africa and we generally only use metres, centimetres, millimetres in everyday usage
Knowing decimetres is useful for converting between cubic and squared units/volume and surface since one cubic decimetre is one litre.
isnt that a decameter
Edit: no its a hectometer.
mm
cm
dm
m
dam
hm
and then finally km
@@cujotwentysix7519 Same thing in Switzerland. Just because some prefixes exist, it doesn't mean than they are necessarily used in day-to-day life

"Jaiden Animations, Ellen Rose and Hank Green"
hmm, so 'Animations' is her surname... interesting. 🙃
On that note, old surnames based on professions like 'Smith' and 'Baker' sound so fine and normal. How come stuff like 'Programmer' and 'Engineer' sound so odd as surnames?
Ya there is a guy in India called sachin pilot
I want a new generation of surnames, like Fiona Newsreader and Iain Presenter (was gonna say Singer, but that is a surname isn't it...)
can't wait 'till those surnames sound normal!
@B0bby when you make your account name Bobby but reveal that your real name is Xavier
Old professions have longer history and at the time were used for surnames to differentiate people with otherwise the same name. We don't do that no so it sounds weird if it was used whereas old professions have been used so much that it became normalized.
I'm now 90% sure Tom is just setting himself up to take Sandi Toksvig's job on QI.

They need to bring this back, but with 5 bars each, like a proper cell phone. That way they can stay on for longer, because it's very entertaining.
That was probably the _only_ advertisement on RUclips I’ve actually wanted to see.

One thing I like about this game: A player with perfect knowledge of a specific question can't be forced out of the game by that question.
Never thought I’d see Hank Green lose at trivia
in historical trivia no less.
Gotta be honest, the "advertisement" pleased me as much if not more as the actual show 👏👏👏
The ad was basically like a regular Tom Scott video.

Same with Poland, and (maybe to a lesser extent) Finland.

"That's a brilliant idea Hank"
Jaiden, who had the idea:
: |
What time was this?
Abitbored27 - it was near the start when jaiden said “if we lose all our bars of power, we fall off the tower” and then hank said “to our deaths”
I hope Tom apologises for this. Women are used to men getting credit for their ideas and work, but I do not expect it on this channel!
Honestly interpreted that as Tom taking a tongue in cheek stab at to the "to our deaths" hunger game approach -- not so much the virtual falling off the tower.
@@peptobismolveins Realise these are the youtube comments, but you may still want to try to tone it down. I was talking about my personal interpretation at that moment, which was probably coloured by my having spent some time with British folks and their slightly darker sense of humour. You seem to have missed my point, which had nothing to do with "they aren't on towers in real life". If we were to take the scenario literally, then Hank's comment would also make zero sense, let alone Tom's response; hence my taking it as tongue-in-cheek banter. As for you calling me a misogynist... a.) instead of a civil discussion, you go right for a personal attack b.) you are just flat out assuming that I am male. As a lesbian feminist I find that our cause is not helped by going full assumed outrage at everything, thereby turning away our allies. It is possible to have civil conversations and learn from each other, even if way too many folks seem to have forgotten that.
This show, and the technology that drives it, are absolutely incredible. Really hyped for future episodes!
This is a series for RUclips and I can hardly believe it. Quality m8.
I can't believe Ellen Beat the Sci Show guy!!! Luke, Jane, Mike, and Andy must've been so happy for her! Omg that was amazing with the reveal at the end 😂
*Question Table of Contents*
Phase 1 - Round 1
1:37 Jaiden (crimes || colourful birds) Which bird was chosen to be the national bird of India in 1963?
3:37 Ellen (island nations || film directors) Which film director also directed the pop video for Thriller?
5:09 Hank (board games || US states) Which state hosts the Daytona 500?
Phase 1 - Round 2
6:01 Jaiden (planets || asian countries) Which planet of Sol has the hottest avg. surface temperature?
7:38 Ellen (body joints || cartoon characters) Norville Rodgers is better known by which nickname?
9:20 Hank (measures of length || rivers) What unit of measure is ⅛ of a mile?
Phase 1 - Round 3
11:18 Jaiden (musicals || comic villains) Which villain did Arnold Schwarzenegger in 1997 Batman & Robin?
Phase 2 - Round 1
14:54 starting with Hank - Plants than end with "berry"
17:14 starting with Ellen - Countries that have a royal family
At 5:55 and 14:18 Tom indicates conflicting definitions of a "round" for this game, but since the halves of the game have different structures I am calling them "phases", and the cyclical nature of the subparts of each phase I think better fit the word "round".
And now the hope for this to not get buried under the comments.

Hank: it's been around for a while, but may... probably not that long
me: Polish disappointment noises
btw Poland is like 4 times older than USA
@@tissuepaper9962 it's all cool and all, but Hanks "argument" was, and I quote, "it's been around for a while, but may... probably not that long" which I was specifically getting at, caus Poland WAS in fact a monarchy for most of its existence. the fact that we've gone through major political changes is relevant to the question, but is not relevant to my comment, because again, that's not at all what I was getting at. btw this was meant to be taken as a funny remark, not a begging for a discussion about Polish history and political system 😂
