Beginner here and this was the first project i took on. I made this top by reading the captions at the parts where the audio was cut off while also cross referencing with the written pattern on the website. No issues for the body, however i do recommend that for those who never made a crochet cup before go and watch a tutorial for that, then come back here for the laced edges. Cup tutorials also will teach you how to properly size the cup so I find that helped alot cuz 11 chains were way too many for my size. For a size small (maybe xtra small?) i used under 100g of 8ply milk yarn for the whole project. Followed the tutorial's measurements exactly (86 chains for the body and 11 chains for the cups) but adjusted for the straps. I did 150 chains for each neck strap (folded in half would be the length of 75 chains which was enough for me to tie comfortably). For the back i decided to do one long chain of 250 and laced it (crisscross weaving in the chain on the holes of the body piece), I'd say you'd still get away with 200 chains depending on the size of your waist. For the front tie, i made a chain of 100 and attached tassles on the ends. Do note that leaving a gap of 3-ish stitches between the cups might help if your chest is smaller (instead of sewing them right next to each other). Overall this was a great first project and I hope anyone who wants to make it doesnt get discouraged from how intricate the finished design looks. I also hope this helps anyone facing issues with the tutorial. Thank you for coming to my TedTalk. :)
tysm for this you have no idea how much you helped me!!
thank you so much for posting this advice. It helped so much!
Your a gem ❤️ Thank you
Thank you. I’m a bit disappointed with having to seam these pieces all together. There are many halter crop bralette patterns that crochet continuously which make it much easier for the beginner. All in all this pattern turned out well Thanks for the advice!
@@mollymilley8 I think its the picot that makes it difficult to do in one go.
I never crocheted a full project before, always just did chains and like maybe a square, but never a full project. This top was my attempt at doing a full on crochet project and it turned out amazing! The explanations were so detailed and simple to understand!
Yeah!! I’m so happy that you made an actual piece of clothing for yourself. Keep going girl!! Xx

Is it just me or does the sound go off and on?
It is not just you. But if you go to the description the link to the written pattern is there and that's what I'm using and kinda just going back to reference to make sure it looks okay
Tanx for sharing your artwork. I made it today. Cant stop staring at myself in the mirror 😂
May i ask how to join the cups with the foundation lace that was made in the beginning?
What size is it?
what size are u
@@duyguduygu3615 size small. I wear 70B cup
@@loveavah9402 sry i didn't notice your comment. Well in 12:10 you can see how to join them. You could use a regular yarn needle and sew them to that lace part or join them with slip stitches as I did. Pretty simple🌹
BEST BIKINI PATTERN I DID SO FAR! THANK YOU! Good Music in the backround, good voice, short instruction & so clear.
Ive made more than 12 crochet croptop like this for my friends they really love it 😍😍😍😍one of my favourite crochet crop top
As a knitter, I’ve always been crochet curious. I just had surgery to get some teeth out...and I could listen to your tutorial for hours. Very straight forward, very calming music (and accent.) Lovely pattern.
I'm doing this, it's a beautiful project and once you do it once you can modify it, if you want it longer and stuff you just add more rows of single crochets... really nicely explained.
Perfect pattern excellent teacher ! I customized mine a little by creating the cups first & extending on one side, connecting with a double crochet & working the body portion downward!! Thanks for sharing!
You are so clear when giving instructions, this is the first video that I am not lost in the first 10 sec 🥳🥳 The first project that came out great 🥰🥰 it only took 3 hour.
Amazing pattern but for some odd reason, the audio was stopping and restarting. Maybe it was just something wrong with my device 🤣. Can't wait to finish this project ❤
It’s doing to same to me

I just turn on cc
@@smretmimms946 never thought of that!! Thank you 💜💜👍🧚🏽
I really enjoyed making this top. I made my cups in double crochet and added the bottom part to them by using a chain of 110 and a 2.75mm hook. It worked out beautifully. Thanks so much for sharing your video and written pattern. Love it ❤️
Just finished making this beautiful top. I used a fingering weight yarn adjusting according to my measurements. It turned out so lovely that I'm now making a second. Thank you Hey Carrie!
this is so crazy cool i learned how to crochet about a week ago and made this!!!! i’m in love!!! thank you ❤️💜💘💘
May i ask you in the two rows that containe sc in each stitch when we begain them are we going to put a sc in the very first chain or in the chain after?
Yesterday my grandma taught me basics of crocheting and today I’m finishing my top😅 I’ve never done any crocheting so this top is my first project. It’s really simple and explained great! Thank you!
I just finished this in black and let me tell you--- I'm in love. My first ever top! My only wish is that there was further description on how to attach the strings but I figured out something that worked for me. Thanks for the lovely tutorial!
How did you attach the strings? That’s what I’m having issues with now!
This is a gorgeous piece. Thank you for the tutorial. A bottom piece would be fantastic to go along with this crop top. Many blessings!
Just made this in under 2 hours so easy to follow tks so much I'm irish also xxxxx
Did you use to strand of yarn together?
Thanks for the pattern.
Please note the cups and lace bottom are crocheted with two strands and the edging around cups and straps are crocheted with one strand.
Also, watch other videos for tips on how to make the lace part of the top without sewing. You can chain 10-15 at edge of cup, then slip stitch across the cups, then chain 10-15 again, then SC across.
i just started to crotchet and wow, this is stunning! thank you for this video!!! I cant wait to try it :)
sounds cuts out at the 27 sec mark and comes back on 1.33 min mark. Just to let you know. I love these comments below. So wonderful this video and your others. I am so looking forward to this one . Your voice is so soothing, I listen when I am not feeling well. :) I think i will just listen to all your videos today and rest :)
I made it and it turned out FABULOUS! Thanks :)
I just finished one w/ acrylic yarn in beige and it came out beautifully. It took me 4 days but I did it 😂👏 thanks!🤍
i know this is old but in your pattern i suggest writing "3rd stitch from chain" etc because i kept getting confused when it just said "next stitch"
Can you help me Iam confused in the two rows that containe sc in each stitch when we begain them are we going to put a sc in the very first chain or in the chain after?
@@wa6162 the very first chain
I made it last night and it turned out to be so good .. thank you for the tutorial
Its so nice...i got confused at first i wasn't turning but then i watched you carefully and saw that you turned after the chain 1..then it started looking better 😆...thank you for an awesome tutorial
This took me 2 days to make. I spent so many hours on it but it turned out great and was simple and easy to do. Thanks for the tutorial!
this was amazing, thank you so much! First crochet project ever and it turned out gorgeous, would have had no clue without your video but you made It easy to follow and I'm super happy with the result :)
I'm glad I learned to crochet. now I can do such wonderful miracles. This is amazing ! 😍😍
So lovely, I did the project within three hours I had done,
Im doing this rn, and even though I’m pretty sure I messed up, it still looks super cute
May i ask you in the two rows that containe sc in each stitch when we begain them are we going to put a sc in the very first chain or in the chain after?
this has to be one of my favorite crochet top tutorials! the design is so elegant and gorgeous, I've made a bunch of these tops in different colors! great video!
What size does it fit for? Do u happen to know. Did u make it for yourself nd if u did what size do u wear in tops ? Plz help lol
I made a few of these, and they fit me perfectly! I wear a size medium, and my chest is pretty small, but if you have a bigger chest, maybe you could add a few rows to the cups😇hope this helps!
It's SO lovely! Thank you so much for this tutorial and pattern :)
Do you have a bottom pattern you recommend? Thanks xo :)
This is one of the best tutorial🥺♥️ thankyousomuchhhh
Amazing design and so easy to follow! Turned out great and my friend will love it! Thank you SO much!!
I finished this last summer and it’s amazing💕❤️❤️
Made this top today and I love it! Great tutorial
Thank you so much. Made this for my daughter. She loves it
This pattern is really easy to follow! Thank you!
Can’t wait to make this! Beautiful. Thank you ❤️
Thank you so much for this tutorial, I just made this for my daughter. It's beautiful!
Hi, how can I customize the body part? Like if I want to take the band way behind my back and put a button instead of strands? How many chains should I start with? Odd number or even number?
Just a question are you using two strands of weight #4 together.....or....smaller weight yarn together to make a weight 4?
So simple to understand. Thank you so much.
Does anyone know how many more to add to the original chain to make the bottom part longer? I’m making it for someone who is quite broad round the ribs. thank you!
The audio cuts out a couple times but if you use the captions it’s easy to follow. I finished mine with two days of work and it’s beautiful.
going too try try this for my daughter. I hope I can do it 🤞 lovely pattern.😍
did u double your wool at the beginning? also what size would this be plz?
@Chiara Taust yes i finally got it right, my daughter loved it 😁
just made this!!! i love it so much 😭 ty for the pattern!
so nice and easy! i changed the pattern a bit to make it longer, worked great i already made two! haha :D
You instructions were perfect. Thank you
The size of the cup?good for S/M size?
Hiiiiiii 🙋♀️ new to your channel. I like the way you put it tog, also how I was planning on my next one. The cups are simple the way you make them and I like the picot finishing touch with the fan/shell style. I will give you a 10 thumbs up.
Beautiful pattern. Thank you
Thank you xx
I finished! Im actually adding some to the back and making it a bit different. Thank younfor the inspiration and tutorial! Did youndouble yarn the whole project? Have a beautiful day.
I got confused when it came to making the cups.... not sure where I'm going wrong 😕
VERY cool talent you have! Looks great!!
I came back to made another one for my daughter and the pattern is missing on your website?? I love your designs!
She has a new website, crochetwithcarrie.com if you search for this top on there you'll find the post
Perfect! Love it, will make mine! Thank you ♥
Your teaching are clear thank you for sharing
This is so beautiful and very easy to understand, thank you so much for sharing! 🤩 I do wish I could see the finished top with all of the straps though, and how it is to be worn. I did 300 chains folded in half for each cup strap and it just seems insanely long. And once there are 4 straps connected to the back, is it supposed to be tied into a bow?
does the audio cut out for anyone else?
Thank you so much
I’m done with mine 😊💃
Thank you for sharing your works😍

I loved this
Hermoso muy bonito me encanto 100💝😘
Great tutorial: concise and well explained. Cheers!
Hey Carrie, I have made this beautiful top ,but I don't really love the part of sewing. I made it last year and now I want to end it.
I started sewing, but I don't like it looks. Can you tell me the way you see it?
Thanks a lot
I'm also making the alien top now,so it would be very helpful.
I make the crop top without sewing. Very easy for me as beginner.
y’all the beginning is difficult and idk if it’s just me but the first part was mostly silent and i had to read captions. Also the cup needs A LOT more explanation. I wish this video was a little more in depth and clearer. I would also have liked to see what each row looks like for more than one second to know i’m on the right track. Other than that, this is a really cool pattern and it is beautiful. Also the narrators voice is really pretty :)
great pattern, i finished it in a day. though it is not my size i dont want to take it apart, so i will be making another one(:
It’s so pretty!!!
This top is beautiful! Thank you so much for posting this tutorial!
i didnt quite understand what she meant at the end (after attaching
the cups) about the straps. can someone please help?
Sc in space, chain 2, sc next space, dc 7 in next space
Sc in loop then dc in last sc
Is it just me or is some of the parts with sound cutting off??? I love this pattern and I can't hear the sound of some of the parts of the pattern of the video anymore
Same here
Great tutorial! Thank you❤️
What cup size is this for?
Hello! what kind of yarn is it ? thanks
cant fully understand the pattern for the cups
Thanks for sharing. This beautiful talent
Perfect. Thank you so much
I just finished all the pieces but I’m confused how the chain ties work. Loop it through the top of the cups I’m assuming to be a halter top but how does the sides work? Do you have separate chains for the sides? Or is it the same chain that loops through the sides? I’m so confused 😕
Beautiful, love this tutorial
Great video! Like
If I wanted to make the body/band part longer, What are the multiples I need to do that? Thank you so much ❤️
If it's not too late, it's a multiply of 4 + 2, for example tid pattern is 4*21+2
@@anjaeriksson5328 is it 4+21+2 ?
@@jessieleighmurphy3017 no. Its 4*x, this is to get the length around your body, so just add 4 stiches untill you get the desired length. Then its +2 to get the edge right 😊
I plan on making this for my friend who is quite busy. Any advice before I get started so I can make sure I can make the cups big enough and supportive? Thank you!
This pattern and video is really not the best but it is a beautiful piece
Love it. I'm going to try it. Hope I make it
I‘m Not sure but is it just by me That the Sound stops somethimes?
I just did your tutorial, it turned out beautiful, but unfortunately the down part (so not the cups) was too big for me... When i tried to narrow it with the knot, i didn't just tie the straps, but the down part too, and it didn't look well, had a big bump in my back, else it was too lose. I want to try it again, but i know i can't lower the chain numbers simply, because of the pattern. Also I'm a beginner, so i don't know how to count, how many chains should i have in the first part? Could you help me please?
guys at the part where the audio cuts out you need to turn on the captions👍
I just made this and i loveeeeeeeeeeee. Does the chain of 84 go for any size?
If you’re referring to the body piece, I’m having the same confusion lol. I wear a c-cup and the body piece doesn’t over lap like the makers does. Mine goes midway on the cup and then stops.
@@filiawilia oh ok. So you would ch more than 84 for a bigger size I assume. Im a tiny B so it fit around me lol
Please if I want it bigger what should I do ?
Hi! this is a very nice design :) but I have some trouble with the cups. They turn into oval shapes instead of triangles... I should have missed something in the tutorial but I can't get what it is :/ If you have any idea I would love to know.
Thank you for your video and your nice voiceover! :D
Wait! I understood haha x)
@@leapoirier_ how did u fix it ... cause i am having the same problem 😭😭
@@yathribgalal1861 I don't remember exactly, but I think it has something to do with turning the work or not ... X)
Yathrib Galal everytime you go around MAKE SURE you r making 3 single crotchet in that top stitch
This happened to me also, i had to redo it. I was crocheting in rounds. I had to chain one, and turn at the end of every row.
Hi Carrie, I think maybe due to the copyright of the music, the audio is muted shortly after I played the video. It is a pity since you have mentioned several tips for making this beautiful pieces and they are for sure very helpful for beginners.
Could I make the bottom part directly on the 2 cubs, not making them separate, with sewing at the end?
Hello, I want to know what is the crop top's size?
What cup size is this for? Do you have a photo of someone wearing it?
www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/the-sophia-crop-top/people?page=1&view=cards
I’m really confused as some parts you’re crocheting with two strands together , but then when you start the edging on the cup you’re using one strand?
Teigan Young it doesn’t matter she’s using 2 strands of thin yarn instead of 1 strand of thick yarn
You can just use one strand of thick yarn for everything
The sound stops at 28 seconds and doesn't start back up until 4 minutes in. And your hand goes out of frame sometimes so I can't see all the chains and stitches u are making in those 3 1/2 minutes. 😟😟
Hello
I really want to use your recommendations. However I find the holes extremely large with a 5mm I almost never used this hook fir this project. How can I still make gauge. If I were to go down to a 3 or 3.5. I’m Ready can yiu recommend how yiu avoid those huge holes.
Thanks so much.
