Loved 'em from the very first song of the very first night I saw them. saw them so often they knew who I was and got to know them, well Cris anyway. Traded a tie dyed shirt I had he liked for a MP shirt from that tour (Mirage). Then watching them tone it down to try to get on a major label, seeing them open for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, which was weird because I'd never seen them open for anyone. I was used to seeing them play two or three hour shows. Then next thing you know, they're on MTV with Nirvana. Then the were gone, at least as I knew them. Now Derrick's back, which I'd hoped for now for years, and they're a five piece with Curt's son. I'd never have guessed that the most psychedelic freak of a band from the 80's would arrive at this point. I'm just glad they're still around.

I liked it when the chain link fence was around the bands so they wouldnt get hurt by debris the crowd threw at them. Im a gal and didnt see many others at the shows. I knew the family that owned msg. A long time ago but sure was fun and great music

It’s great to see Derrick back with the Kirkwoods again. You’d know it’s him right away with from his open drumming stance, to the way he dials in with Cris and gives the material their most natural backbone.

They acknowledged being fans, Curt said the Dead were aware of them and what they were doing. I thought that was cool, and surprising.

i love this! edit~ its been about 2 hours and ive replayed it probably about 100 times. the drum beat & tempo along with the melodic keyboard, bad ass guitar, thump of the bass, and mello/fluted vocals are absolutely a joy to experience. you boys can really rock. keep the good shi coming. ill be listening for sure!
Saw em at the original 9:30 Club in DC in ‘83. There was about 20 of us. Then when they toured with Black Flag a year later at DC Arts. Still haven’t recovered.
I'm 15 and meat puppets&Nirvana along with a few other bands have inspired me in many ways. It's great that the the meat puppets r back but it's a shame that so many ppl dont know about them.

I’ve got a fulltone ocd distortion pedal, a boss did-6 digital delay, and a Bogner ecstasy overdrive on it. The whole lead track- intro, chorus riff, solo, transition, and closing leads were all done as a one take improv. I got lucky. Ended up using the whole thing through the entire song.

Absolutely shocked with the latest album I love it. I’m 15 I was like 9 or younger when I first heard Forbidden Places! And Too High To Die....just the kind of music I liked as a kid
I was listening to The Alan Parsons Project's "The Eagle Will Rise Again," and it reminded of The Meat Puppets' "Plateau," thus I went there. Now here, the train leads to buzzard, vulture, condor, eagle, falcon, bald eagle.
I used to see these guys alot in the. phx area in the 80s. Theyve grown up and Ive grown old. Still diggin their music and glad they have new stuff out. Maybe I can catch them again in concert. That would be great

I have to say as a lifelong Meat Puppets fan, at first I didn't dig this so much. However with this video and about five more listens I get it. It's classic Meat Puppets. I dig it and I hope that some of today's musically inept youth dig it too.
Also a long time fan (since 1985) and I've had that reaction as well. There are still tunes from the last fifteen years or so I don't care for, but there are many I do. Some albums I like more than others from their post Meat Puppets 2.0 (aka Royal Neanderthal Orchestra) output. But they've still got their musical soul regardless. Yeah, I hope some of the younger generation will learn to appreciate people who can play and record without protools editing tricks and sing and harmonize without auto tune.
Dusty Notes is a phenomenon album start to finish. I do believe Curt has gotten some vocal coaching, his singing is off the hook on the new album. Nice to have the old band back together along with two new additions. Now you guys just need to get yourselves up to the Great Northwest, Portland in particular!
The band I grew up with are now the band I grow old with. Still the best band on the planet.

They paid their dues and finally got some recognition beyond the punk scene. They couldn't have survived otherwise; they were barely getting paid.
I don't understand how they do it. It is unnatural for a band to consistently write such superb songs. A freakishly good talent at work.

In Philly it was a lot of places that dont exist anymore. City Gardens. East Side Club. Revival.
