How many cans of paint did you use? I'm wondering cause I'd probably need 1 less bottle but I'm definitely going to do this to my 2006 ford escape. Yours came out awesome.
I believe it was 13 spray cans. Granted this is an extended cargo van, so a lot of area to cover. You could probably do your Ford Escape with 10 or 11 cans. Let me know how it turns out for ya and thank you! 😄
@@MultiTaha007 After cleaning and grinding the rust off, apply the Corroseal, let it dry, then paint (rustoleum automotive paint), let it dry, do at least one more coat of paint, let it dry, then do the CRC and your in good shape 😄👍
Gonna be honest here, Chief. I haven't watched more than 64 seconds ones of this video and already thumbed it up due solely to your enthusiasm. Epic Narrator Voice Engaged! Lol
I spotted the Plott Hounds playing in the background @7:57. Great dogs. Lost mine to Cancer last Sept and still think about him every day. I'm all lined up to tackle a similar job on a minivan and truck soon - thanks for the inspiration!
I wasn’t sure how I was going to start this project for my H2 but after watching this video on how u did this. I’m definitely will get it done. Thank u sir 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
i came here because I need to do my H2. every time I look at it, it looks rustier. Is this common for H2? I've never had a vehicle look this bad before underneath. do they not come with undercoating on anymore?
Great job. And great tip on the rust converter. I grew up in Fog Town (Half moon Bay, south of San Francisco) and we used that on EVERYTHING! Good old phosphoric acid is amazing! Everyone who wanted to keep their truck in good condition cleaned and painted the undersides like this, a lot of work but it really helps. I too have to work on my vehicles on dirt, using blocks of sturdy plywood under the jack stands as you did (and leaving the hydraulic jack underneath but out of the way as a backup plan) is essential. Note all the galvanized sheet metal under there! I really appreciate this on my 78 Ford F-250. Only other thing I can say is the ‘sexy montage’ was disgusting. 😜
Thank you for your reply and help i will start with my minivan Sienna this week i have purchase everything in the vide except the rustoleum automotive paint is that ok if you could send me a link of the right paint so many of them sorry to bother you and again thank you
No problem! Happy to help 😄👍 amzn.to/3FIgC91 That’s the high heat paint that you can use on your muffler. amzn.to/3LeKnzk That’s the regular automotive paint.
Dude you hilarious, I just bought a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee, the under carriage is awfully rusted, I’m definitely going to follow this process. Love the works dude, keep it up.
Thank you 😄 Yeah, you just let the Corroseal dry. No need to wipe it off because it changes the rust into a paintable surface. Then you can spray on the rustoleum and then the CRC after the paint dries. On my Beardmobile, it’s still going strong 😄👍
Wowwwwwwwww excellent work my man,I really need to do this to my 08 Sequoia and I'm going to...With the high heat rustoleum which parts were actually sprayed???
Thank you 😄 I used the high heat paint on the exhaust system and muffler. You can use regular rustoleum automotive paint on the other areas that don’t get heat up, but I had extra cans, so I used it for the undercarriage coating as well.
Wow...you did a kick ass job on that van! Lot of work but you have protected your investment and save yourself a LOT of $$ in the long run. I ran across your video as I am going to use the CRC on my new Lexus this weekend. It's rust free for now, but I live in Iowa where we use nuclear road salt in the winter. So i am going to pressure wash and then CRC the entire undercarriage. Fortunately, i won't have to do any of the rust cleanup and conversion. Again, great job!
I used 13 cans of the rustoleum high heat paint. Granted this is a extended cargo van, so if you have a shorter rig, you’ll be able to do it with less.
I believe I used around 13 cans. Granted I did multiple coats and also keep in mind this is an extended cargo van. If you have a different vehicle I’d subtract 2-4 cans based on your size. Of course, if you only do one coat, you can cut that number in half.
@@Liveontheoutside Thanks, I bought a new 2021 Nissan NV200...I am wondering if I should bother with any undercoating, or maybe paint the exhaust system. What do you think?
@@jkyoft78 No problem 😄👍 It really depends on where your located and how much protection you want. Example: If you’re in a northern state where they salt the roads for the ice and snow during the winter, then I highly recommend fully doing the undercoating. Because road salt really speeds up the rusting of metal. If you’re in a southern state where you have little to no snow, then you don’t have to worry about it. Either way, undercoating your vehicle will make it last way longer. So if you’re planning on keeping it in good shape for years to come, I’d recommend it. Doesn’t cost that much and it’s well worth the effort 💪😄
Anything that heats up, just use the high heat rustoleum paint-not the Corroseal or CRC. If you’re near any wires, plugs, or small moving parts, tape them up before painting or spraying. The area around the engine is up to you. But use the above tips. Also be careful to not get anything on your brakes or calipers. Other than that coat that puppy! 😄👍

Awesome job! I’ve read that using high pressure sprayers is better as it can penetrate rust inhibitor where simple brush won’t be able to.

so first crc then paint awesome job brotha need to do something like this soon
Thanks man 😄👍
Also the order is:
Corroseal rust converter first, then paint, then CRC corrosion inhibitor.
Your work ethic is beyond
Thanks again
Great video! very helpful. Deserves waaay more views. Love your license plate too LoL 👍

So you clean corroseal before applying coating or let it stay ?

Seems like that CRC is the real deal,im gonna do this on my 08 Sequoia...
CRC will fall off at top of paint when paint fall off. Fluid film is better. It moves. Crc, is better over rust.
Your wardrobe budget may need to be trimmed and don’t scout locations near poles

How long did it take you to do this?
Around a week and a half, grinding the rust off took a bit and then waiting 24 hours for each coat to dry.

So with all the overspray did you get that leopard look?? 🐆
Lol, yeah, I probably should have mentioned to wear clothes you don’t mind getting sprayed. On the plus side mine are still rust free 😂
How is it one year later?
Still going strong 💪 and I’ve put thousands of miles on her since then 😄
You had me at, "sexy montage."
Is there anything under there your not supposed to spray? Or should we just spray every god damn thing? 😆

Rust reformer and paint are at way of Cosmoline doing its job. Cosmoline at top of paint dry to wax and crack when paint crack.
