I'm Italian and Brumotti is quite an hypocritical... he lives in Dubai far away from our problems, he is engaged with a wealthy girl and he has a lot of money.. he only does this TV shows with little dealers that sells 1 or 2 gram a time, and especially in north and middle Italy he only goes after immigrants.. he goes after people that doesn't count nothing and that if they're arrested they will be replaced in 5 minutes.. he doesn't go after real bosses, who smuggles big quantities and organizes selling places.. maybe because some of them are who pays his salary... in Italy mafia is strictly connected with entrepreneurs and big TV companies owners, which he is part of. He is a fake, true heroes are others.. like Saviano, Falcone and Borsellino, Alberto dalla Chiesa.. people who really fought mafia.. not clowns.
Exactly. Italy is controlled by "The Mafia". If he was hurting any major operation or exposing the collaboration between the government and The Mafia, he'd be dead in a week. The show he's on wouldn't even feature any footage....

I mean we don't know that was coke for sure and we never saw the gun. And the cops let him go. Seems like a big play to me to be honest. Maybe Unreported World is even in on it. I dunno. Nothing in this video really makes sense the more times I watch it.

@Fon Hollohan Maybe but you also need to understand that it may not be what you think. Italian culture its not uncommon to have several generations living under the same roof. Also, they may have insisted protecting him. I don't know any parent worth their salt who wouldn't take a bullet for their child even if they are grown. None of use were their during the family discussion to know what happened and why thing are now the way they are. He could still be a "scumbag" but also not, so I wont jump to conclusions, just be a little suspicious.

I’m Italian, with that being said, Vittorio brumotti is famous in Italy but not an hero. In social medias like Facebook he’s a literal meme (he gets beaten up many many MANY times) at this point we’re not surprised anymore. He kinda reinforces the idea of: immigrant=bad person.
He looks for the small drug dealers, usually immigrants, gets them arrested but they’re easily replaced. So... my man doesn’t seem to realise that there’s no real and effective difference.
If you are looking up for real heroes that fought mafia just type “Falcone and Borsellino” we are very proud of them

Brumotti only has to deal with small dealers, very often they are family fathers who have lost their jobs and are screwed up in front of the elderly public of Striscia La Notizia, which is a repetitive and boring program suitable for the average Italian public (we are the country with the oldest in the world, after Japan). Fun Fact, the president of this television network (Mediaset) was Silvio Berlusconi, is now the son. Look for Silvio Berlusconi on Wikipedia and you will see all the contradiction of the Brumotti's program. here in Italy Brumotti is seen more as an idiot than a hero

The real heroes are the men who try to bring the senior figures of the families to justice, and those who try to protect them. The judges who have no life. The Carabinieri who protect those judges. My sister worked in northern Italy near Turin. She told me when she got home about a boy in one of her high School classes there that always had men in mirrored shades and suits waiting for him outside the school all day. They would bring him, they would wait for him and they would take him away at the end of the day. She never did find out exactly who he was or why that was happening. One could make the easy sumption that his father or mother is just very wealthy but you never know if he was connected to the drug trade via his family.

I will tell you this a friend of my aunt back in 1991 in Reggio Calabria town (south italy) he worked in a shop. The owner was an old italian man every day in that shop a man from the mafia with elegant dress came in and ask to give him the pizzo (extortion) to the old man. The poor man had always to give him the money without telling him nothing or protesting. And this happened in front of the eyes of the people. In south italy is very common the extortion now this happens even in some towns in northern italy.

Italy is one of the safest countries in Europe, despite it's dimension the only countries whit less homicide are the small and rich switzerland, netherland, norway (with 1/12 of Italy's population) and slovenia. Just stay away from drunk people and downgrades neighborhoods during nightime and see that nothing will happen to you
