We need more men like Lorenzo in todays world. Back then, men are about principle and pride. No matter what they did for a living, they held their head high earning decent money to feed their family. Back then, men were in shape not because they hit the gym for mirror selfies, but because they did manual labour and volunteered to do military service. When men were actually measured by the principles they stood for and are willing to die for. When they refused to be rats, but at the same time are no chicken shit. THey will go toe-to-toe with anyone even a feared mobster if it meant protecting their loved ones. Now? Men have simply become idiots infatuated with the bling bling life fantasy.
You have a childlike view of how men were back then; it’s utterly embarrassing. Men died before hitting their 50s because they lived like “men” and abused alcohol, drugs and never went to the doctor until it was too late. So many women died from back alley abortions, abuse and suicide that multiple laws were passed to ensure they were viewed as literal human beings and not livestock and property. The concept of marital rape didn’t even exist back then, meaning you could literally rape your wife and the law would protect you. The days you’re pining for didn’t exist; crack open a goddamn history book and stop taking taking moral cues from fictional movies.
while somehow I sympathize with this sentiment , I can actually sorta see the hue of red those rose tinted glasses you are wearing are. I think its safe to say there have been "rats" all the way back to ceaser getting shanked and likely much farther back and heroes and good men all the way up til the present. I think you are just noticing how when the population of humanity drastically increase so does the population of dipshits.
regardless sonny had C’s best intentions through most of the movie even if he had a job or sold drugs, that doesn’t determine what kind of person you are
meanwhile his dad didn’t want him to marry black 😂😂 yeah we really need more people like that around sonny was trying to protect c from the dumb friends and his dad was just being a idiot
You find out in the end joe pesce was the real boss and Sonny was more a captain … This one of my all time favorites a lot of behind the scene stories. The actor who plays Sonny this movie is actually based off his childhood he was the kid on the porch who saw a murder and came up with the movie script
@@MarsKidd27 the actor who played young Tony is Bobby Boriello the actor who played young C is Francis Capra. Not the same kid. I understand the confusion they do look similar.
You didn't mention the part that Carmine was the driver that Sonny protected that day when he shot the guy who was hitting him with a baseball bat at the beginning of the movie
If someone always gives you a good advice even though your neighboor tells you that person is a bad one but keeps giving you good advice, give them a chance and listen to them
the movie provides the duality of how you find lessons in life sometimes you got experience a hard life to get the hard lessons unless you have a harden teacher to share those lesson respect your elders
Damn sonny is a villain but an unlikely one a villain who doesn’t want the protagonist to become like him he helped c but eventually even sonny couldn’t let c hang with his friends and couldn’t let him be
13:25 C ran back to the bar because he was grateful with Sunny for saving his life by taking him out of the car and he was going to thank him before he got killed
Looking back at the totality of this movie, Sonny killing that dude at the beginning is so extreme for him . Plausible for his character? Yes but the probability is super low
i remember watching a really similar film with a tennager growing up with mobs around him in his dad dont liked that, but the different was that that kid got more and more stuck with that lifestyle and did more things like a mafioso.. can someone help me find that movie?
Joe pessci is a funny guy, especially in the lethal weapon movie as Leo gets,Joe's quick, funny and nails the punchline ,ok ok ok,what Leo wants Leo gets,he's also a funny guy in the restaurant scene from goodguys, about the same height as Danny devito and just as funny
Your basic rule of thumb is never disrespect the mob bar not that I've ever been to one but I just know if you going are you going there being respectful you be a proper English gentleman those people can have you shot in 2 minutes and you'll be sleeping with the fishes as they say
only complaint? the pronunciation of Calogero's name but still love the recap. "Calogerro. not Calojero " but still I understand its tough to say. still love it all
This movie is so good on so many levels THAT MOST CAN RELATE TO. ~~For me i relate to C leaving his friends right when they are about to get into serious trouble. ~Edit- i deleted all the details about why i declined the car ride where all my friends caught felonies in 1991 when we were 18+19...Best decision i ever made & i retell it to my kid & nephews..

Yup, now having conversations about whether they identify as a woman. Bet no man back then would even think of such idiotic things.

So sweet that Sonny could be so kind and loving to Cee, yet tough and violent as his role as a mob boss. ❤
He wasn't a boss but a captain.

Fun fact, Carmine is the guy that got hit by the bat for the fight between a parking space and Sonny saved him.

Excellent recap of a great classic. This is by far my favorite recap channel...and ive seen em all.
Thanks mate, cheers!🙌
Sonny seems Resonable... Shouldn't have killed a guy over a parking spot... Just sayin
No. A guy that got hit in the car before the shot started had said at the end of movie. He said it's not about parking spot.
The other guy was tryna hit/kill his friend with a bat. He overacted but anyone would defend their friend
The person in the car getting hit was a made man. According to mob rules, you can’t attack a made man which is why Sonny shot the attacker.
Guys dies for less
It wasnt about a parking spot. Gotta watch the full movie to catch it
You didn't mention the part that Carmine was the driver that Sonny protected that day when he shot the guy who was hitting him with a baseball bat at the beginning of the movie

Amazing explanation my friend.
I saw this in 1994 and you couldn't pay someone to watch it back then. It took decades for this film to catch on.
missed the part where carmine tells him he was the guy in the car
In what car?

Honestly this movie was cast so well
I think Calogero was the first person Sonny trusted, even if it was very little.
