I've been playing for over a year and your close combat advice in the beginning was something yet again I have been able to learn. You're doing great stuff!
Another great instructional video Brian. I've only had the game a couple of weeks and watching your various videos has taken me from getting my arse seriously whooped most of the time to now holding my own even against a couple of ferrals. Thanks mate you saved the game for me as I was nearly at 'uninstall' point with it due to frustration......now?.....well now I can't stop playing it.
Thanks for the guide bro! Made me better at combat! One detail that I learned is that crouching boosts your stamina recovery significantly, so crouching to recover your stamina speeds things up!
Great guide! Super late to the party but I didnt know you could squish them against a wall. I wonder if it also works on fences or burned out cars (terrain). My two cents you can use: 1) the kick is more effective if the zombie Is downed. You're character will initiate a curb stomp, which has the capacity to kill. Its great for striking/swordplay if you're finding the executions long. 2) if you press the kick action and have a heavy weapon equipped, your character will instead do a crosscheck move, pushing the zombie back. It's actually quicker than the kick frame wise, but less range.
Hey Brian! I never knew of the static dodge and counter till I saw your videos. I'm building it into my gameplay with decent success and maintaining control of the distance whereas prior I was dodging out of combat and had to re-engage and risk damage. Chur!
Good content man. I been playing for some weeks now, finished my third legacy in nightmare action (map and community in lethal, as you adviced in one of your videos) and seeing this I realize been using just a fraction of the tools available for fighting
Mines marathon discipline and swordplay. Execute standing zombies and tou can leg sweep them to cut off the legs and if you're light carrying capacity you run for FREE! I do like close combat as well w resourfulness and backpacking and the acrobatics and striking for blunt weapons is fun af I love the running jump attack w blunt weapons
I want to do the dodge-grab-push with a controller. Dodge is B. How do I grab and then push? Also, how is he bringing in zeds to practice on? Ok, finally found the info I was looking for. It's B to dodge, hold RT to grab, then A to push. Bonus, its A to kick.
I consider myself a pro player & yet I don't know how to perform most of these very useful action moves. It's too late for me to change my gameplay style. All my playthroughs are similar. But for new players they are 💯LIFE & 💯TIME SAVING instructions. I wish today was my 1st day in SoD 👌
The AI controls the other characters your not personally controlling during a base under attack quest.. what combat build is best for the AI effectiveness rate 🙌
an auto shotgun/timberwolf and a blunt weapon with high knockdown or a bladed weapon with high letahlity..thats what i give mine ...but i think the meleeweapon doesnt make much of a difference if they do their ai stuff
One of the first things you do try to avoid hordes 8+ but if you have a character with swordplay there’s a chance you could take care of it quick but don’t try if you’re not experienced enough in evading bites
Hey Brian, great guide, I've watched all your SoD2 videos and they're the best I've seen, by far. One question, on the Heavy Weapons, what are you doing to do the heavy attack on the plague heart? I've looked at my settings but can't even find the option to do like a "heavy" attack. Can you only use it if you have Powerhouse? I want to begin using your recommendation to phase the plague hearts before I blast them. Thank you for your time.
Great guides Brian. I am very new and there is so much to learn. I have not yet seen the Stims you use, how can I obtain them please. I have been watching your guides more than playing atm. I am poor at combat but practice the push which I find awkward to manoeuvre atm on xb. Keep up the excellent guides and all the best to you and your family. 👏
I love the close combat skill but i got a problem every time i want survivor to learn close combat skill it doesn’t show like it just shows striking skill and endruance skill i always use close combat fighting type for this survivor and it always doesn’t show close combat skill in the skills list pls i need help with this how can i let my survivor learn close combat skill do i have like when every time i see i zombie do i have like to do some move to show close combat skill or what?
Great guide bro but for 1 thing...you are explaining things like "you grab the zombie and then you throw them"..etc..all good but you need to include what keys you are using to do what. Most people don't know the different keys or what they do. especially if you are just starting out. Most people come from console to PC and they are two totally different controls.
I don’t play on controller that’s why I didn’t say I have no clue what the grab button and stuff is for people and my key-binds are custom so I don’t remember what the defaults are either 😂
@@BrianMenard oh god sorry bro..now i feel bad..maybe i should be like a reporter interviewing a celeb..you know give a list of questions i will ask so you look awesome with your responses...lmao.BTW i love Brian Menard he is just the bomb..he is good to the elderly and donates to the world wildlife fund to save endangered animal's,How was that bro..lol
@Brian - What difficulty did you capture these techniques on bud? Just wondering if the timings would be shorter on lethal mode. Keep up the amazing work. 👍🏼
how to push the zombie ? i hold X button to grab zombie and if i press right click, the character will execute the zom or if i stop holding X, the character will free the zom
Wicked guide, finally someone actually included everything that I was looking for. I can't do the push, my characters got powerhouse but I changed the key to alt so I'm thinking that that's the problem, gonna change keys and see if it fixes it. 👍🏻
2022 - I don't know if this is working as intended but my dude just keeps kicking instead of melee attacking ever since I got the shooting ability assault and I'm not even aiming.
I can do everything but the kick. I play on console, and I don't understand if it's because I'm holding a melee weapon, or if it's because I don't have powerhouse or close combat. Day 45 and I feel stupid af.🤣
I must be missing something. In sod 2 I can never grab a zombie until I level up fighting to specialize it. The only attack I can do right off the bat is normal melee and the y execution. Are you playing modded?
No mods now if your referring to grabbing a zombie from the front yes you need upgraded skills to do that but from behind any survivor can grab a zombie and hold them
Well i just bought the game and i searched on net and keybinds and every where it should throw zombies with space after grabbing them but its not working for me ! Can someone explain or help ? Couldnt find the solution ,
I have a real problem where to put my hold zombie hotkey, x is too hard to find in the heat of battle. And dodge is assigned for my mouse side button. I have another free side button and its slightly further away than the first one, not sure if thats convenient enough too. And what about you, Brian, do you play on pad or keyboard ?
Thanks for this video. A request. Could you indicate the controls or speak a little slower when explaining such important things? I don't speak English well and although I learn a lot from you, I don't understand some of the things you say.
@@BrianMenard ok nice. Which one? You have a couple. I've listened to them both but tbh I was playing too so I kinda didn't pay a lot of attention unless something specific caught my attention. So I try to do both. But I won't die if I ignore you a bit. Can't say the same about the game. Here's a question I asked fox and he gave me suggestions I'm gonna try. But I don't have much time to try games anymore. So what are some games similar to sod2? I'm not into 1st person games. My favorite part of sod2 is the begining, starting out and building something, increasing in skill and equipment. I like the randomness of the survivors and recruiting to the community but that's not a necessity. I like building and crafting but I don't like to be bogged down by it. From the very start of the guide even with the super basic stuff. I get that this is for new people but even still... if people really want to see it again they can just rewind the video.
