    The 2010 away jumper is my favourite jumper ever, and this is coming from a swans fan

    As a hawks fan, I wish we brought back the 2008 clash jumper but keep the stripes as the home jumper

    as an nrl watcher, this is a horrible take. Teams in the nrl swap designs every few years and some are awful. It is just a way to squeeze money out of the fan base. Have a standard home guernsey and do what you like with the away

    Hawks away should be a very dark brown jumper with gold narrow pin stripes. They can just have dark brown panels of normal width with narrow yellow pinstripes. Fans would love it and hopefully if the brown was dark enough it would encourage them to buy merchandise and jumpers of that colour. Hawks could also consider having brown and black panels in stripes with narrow yellow pinstrpes in between. That may also work and please fans.

    • @mattn1
      @mattn1  11 месяцев назад

      That could work, I guess it depends on how well their brown away jumper with gold stripes sold previously

      @@mattn1 They have a brown jumper with gold stripes. But have never worn dark brown with yellow pin stripes. By pin stripes I've referring to 3mm width and the dark brown panels at 10cm. That would sell pretty well, keep the stripes that are so iconic and provide alternatives. I'd go for darker brown too. The fans don't want to wear the normal Hawks brown shirt, so you see jackets and polos in grey blue and black. That's a big issue for a team that's brown and gold. So I'd go darker brown (like a navy blue tone)... Also as I said investigate going for brown and black panels and then in between yellow pin stripes. So that's what I'd be seriously investigating. Not gimmicky but also traditional because it keeps the stripes. Of course they can also play around with other patterns with stripes, such as having different width stripes at the front... That could be worth playing with as a designer.

      @@mattn1 I'm suggesting normal size brown panels (maybe a bit wider), but with very narrow yellow pin stripes. I'm honestly quite surprised that the club hasn't done it before. Its actually incredibly simple idea for them to come up with. Hawks have managed to scuttle most of their alternative jumpers over the years. Even at the back of their strip, they had an absolute winner in the 1980s of being all gold at the back. Then suddenly they brought back stripes at the back and a white numbers patch there. Why??? Craxy times when you have all kinds of advertising and the all yellow was so iconic for them.

    I reckon just simply swap out our clash Guernsey for the retro big hawk top.

    Personally the thing I love most about footy jumpers is their history, it provides a strong continuous identity for the club over time. I think clash and gather round jerseys are a great opportunity to play with design, but the home and away should remain the same; I much prefer this to what happens in soccer leagues with constant design changes that remove any strong visual identity of a club.

  • @FFelxi

      I reckon they should wear a striped jumper away. But have darker brown stripes of ahout 10cm width and then narrow yellow pin stripes of 3 millimetres... wear brown shorts probably. If needed the jumper could have white and yellow pinstripes so white shorts could look ok. Assuming that Hawks would be wearing the all brown in order to avoid a clash with a yellow based team! Hawks must wear stripes really as its iconic Hawks. But they can play with the width and numbers of stripes and whether to go for a north type striped alternative. But really, must always be stripes. I'd go for the all dark brown with very narrow pin stripes myself as an alternative. They also need to convince their fans to wear the club colours more often. I reckon a darker brown may work.

    The Hawks head jumper. Which one would you wear yellow shorts. The mainly brown or mainly gold jumper. I would have liked to have seen the graphics of that, instead of white shorts. Line up both jumpers with the brown and gold shorts. 4 variations. Then see what to go for.

    How about a video for Eagles to bring back ochre / orange. Or at least a Wallabies rugby style gold-orange as an away strip. What would it look like? Should the AFLW girls wear it. Could they wear all ochre with with ochre shorts plus blue wings on the jumper?

  • @BDub2024
    @BDub2024 11 месяцев назад +3

    Hawthorn is brown and gold stripes. Simple. If they stuff around with brown Vees or hawks heads, then they may as well change their colours. Brown and gold are a poor combination really. But the stripes are an iconic jumper. So only alternative is to play with the stripes. Vary the width of the panels, have all brown or all gold at back. Use brown or gold shorts. I'll come up with some suggestions shortly. But they honestly must remain stripes in some form.

  • @BDub2024

    A left field view, is to wear a lighter camel brown with dark brown, a bit like Northern Territory jumpers. But skip on the white. You would hopefully get the fans embracing the camel/coffee colour. But time would tell. It worked with NZ one day cricket outfit in the 80s, but will it work for Hawks? As I said a left field view. They could even have ochre and dark brown... to reflect the colours of the outback.

  • @BDub2024
    @BDub2024 11 месяцев назад +1

    I like Hawk to keep their mainly gold one at home. You don' want to switch jumpers too much. Certainly they can wear dark brown when they play Eagles Suns Giants Sydney. It would be silly to wear mainly brown at home and force opposition teams to then wear alternative strips more often.

  • @BDub2024
    @BDub2024 11 месяцев назад

    Hawks should never wear white either home or away and shouldn't wear white shorts. White shorts with a yellow jumper looks bad.

    are you serious? just about everything you said was wrong. its keeping the traditional guernseys that make the AFL GR8. This game is about history and tradition... its the games core and new editions are great examples of the worst guernseys in the league. Port Adelaide, Fremantle, Gold Coast and GWS are the leagues worst guernseys and they are all the newest Clubs. I actually cant believe you made this and then said everything the opposite to what works - there shouldn't even be an away guernsey.

      Some of Crows alternatives have been shockers like a white jumper with a few stripes in the middle... I think they did that with a yellow jumper too. Really basic. Crows are stripes... Its their iconic look. Though I like the Crows head. I think Crows could also play with the size and width of stripes.

      @@Croweaterrr Yes the mainly red one with stripes. Agreed that looks good. I'd wear the red shorts with it too. Be quite striking.
      Then the other jumper you go for traditional home, but cut down on either red or gold, so it doesn't blend with Suns Swans Giants as much...
