I just want Savathun to come back and it turns out her “cunning” and “deception” in the plan was actually just plain honesty. Based on how Imbaru works, truth is as powerful as a lie, moreso if someone believes the truth to be a lie. Their belief in a lie feeds Imbaru, and Savathun proving her cunning by being honest the whole time also feeds Imbaru. Having her return as an ally of existence over non existence instead of as an ally of humanity or a sudden last antagonist before The Final Shape would be much more powerful for the world of Destiny as a whole. Yes, Savathun has done terribly awful things. She’s also been playing such a long con that she fooled the Witness, Nezarec, Rhulk, and has a plan for Xivu Arath. All she wants to do is LIVE and LEARN and she can’t do that when nothing exists at all. And I think she’s fascinated by the concepts of light/dark and wants to study them as in-depth as possible, and can’t do that if the Witness wins. TL;Dr - Savathun should come back as an ally of existence and the power that helps her is her actual honesty, not some long-con of us.
Savathun loves to conceal the truth in just a twist of misinformation away, remember, she had 2 truths 2 lies in the Savathun puzzle reflection mission of every week of witch queen. Her Parasite also loves to unveil lies that have grown too large to try and trick us into fighting eachother Remember when Parasite said 'The awoken queen plans to kill you' and Mara then said that she merely has protocols to kill us just in case we go haywire
I would love an ‘honest’ Savathun as well. We’ve always known her as the Queen of Lies but she only used lies and trickery because she was forced to by her worm. Now that she is free from her worm and empowered by light, she can be as honest as she wants.
I was raised in the southern black church. We said 'AMEN' in the exact way the hive say 'Aiat'. I understood PERFECTLY the first time I heard a hive say it, as well as anyone that grew up COGIC. AIAT!
My prediction of Eris' last words of she really does bite it this season: "Devotion inspires bravery. Bravery inspires sacrifice. Sacrifice leads to death. Aiat."
Eries and Ikora are 2 most knowledgeable vanguard leaders on the Hive. These 2 unfortunately being manipulated by Savathuan too I think. Savathuan is so much more smarter, clever then Ikora andEries combined it seems. And that tells me that even dead Savathuan is actually directing this production.
@@jamieharper1051 There is the dark future where Eris bind Savathûn to her will and becomes a hive god that way, but that is a different timeline. How I see it is that every version of Eris has the potential to be that powerful.
I love how inescapable the Hive Gods' tithing systems are. If you fail, you strengthen them through the Sword Logic by proving yourself inferior to their machinations, but if you succeed by engaging with that which falls under their domain, that success is taken as a tithe and also strengthens them.
It’s why you have to fuck them up by imposing other concepts in them. Like how if xivu killed Eros out of revenge for oryx, she would strengthen Eros instead of killing her
Savathun describing whats going to happen as just "weird", is maybe the single most intimidating line in the series because WHAT DO MEAN *THATS* WHEN IT GETS WEIRD!?
I’m kind of intrigued by the micro-detail of the relation between Savathûn naming her cunning version of the sword logic “Imbaru” and then naming her ghost “Immaru”, like that can’t be a coincidence
Imbaru and Immaru are both summerian words, one meaning "mist" and the other "light". considering its canon that Savathun likes a good pun, it could be intentional !! especially as they're both ""devices"" that keep her going in some way.
@@inquisitorius427Immaru is the light in the mist. Like the glowing sac that serves as a lure to fish for a deep sea fish to eat. Anglerfish, deep sea eels, etc. Savathun is the anglerfish, Immaru is the bait, and we are the fish.
Wasn't his name Immaru before he became Savathûn's ghost? I feel like I remember Ghost telling us he recognized Immaru's voice from when he tormented other ghosts in the Tower.
When Byf started to show the ikora transmission to start the week, he said "listen to this:". I proceeded to get an add about dishwasher detergent. I have listened well to it, and now I'm drowning in dept and tons of laundry detergent. Aiat
I'm really enjoying the story telling this season. I wasn't expecting the Imbaru Engine, but like Byf said, it's a terrifying revelation. I hope they do more with it this season and possibly next season since Savathûn will probably be resurrected by the end and we'll interact with her much more next season.
The only winning move really is not to play. Imbaru is the name of strength derived from a *failure* to *understand*. Broken down, this requires three things: 1. Something to understand 2. The attempt to understand it 3. The failure of the attempt #1 is crucial because Savathûn can't, for instance, simply invent a word and grow strength from an audience that doesn't know its meaning -- otherwise we would never know what she's saying and she would have infinite power. This means that in order to be effective, any one thing Savathûn does or says has to reasonably be interpretable to have at least two different meanings (intentions, motives, what have you). Just from the get-go. THEN, she has to convince an audience (because, presumably, she cannot misunderstand herself for cheap power) that it is in their interest to understand so that they can respond to it. This *tends to* be easy with us as we believe that not understanding means not responding, and not responding will lead to not existing. Finally, the audience must mentally confirm/assert the untrue interpretation as the truth -- which we'll just assume as given that simply doing so (not even acting on that understanding) is an automatic satisfaction of the Imbaru condition. So this brings us to the Imbaru Engine. Note that though there are multiple chests, there are only two choices: fail and succumb to Imbaru, empowering Savathûn, or succeed and *conjure* Savathûn. Savathûn's definition of "cunning" is "the use of thought to predict the function of a system." In the Imbaru Engine, she demonstrates the prediction of Guardian behavior on two different orders of magnitude: in the micro (Chest Choice), making the wrong decision demonstrates a failure to understand the presented system, which satisfies Imbaru -- but making the right decision demonstrates a success to understand the Chest Choice micro system, and thus demonstrates Savathûn's definition of cunning, which, in turn, *conjures* cunning, and as demonstrated in the Books of Sorrow, may serve as the mechanism by which she is resurrected... potentially without the use of a Ghost. Failing to understand this is a failure to understand the macro system of the Imbaru Engine, which is *also* a subtle grant of Imbaru. What was that thing Nokris said? "There are no gods. There are only chains, and those at either end." We are not the only ones working both Light and Darkness. Savathûn still has a Throne World, an Ascendant Plane, and she also happens to have a Ghost who is still alive. Because a death in the Ascendant Plane might still be undone by a conjuration of the Ascendant Plane's demiurge, Savathûn may have simply figured out another redundancy around death itself, one that doesn't even necessarily require her body. But Imbaru, and its Engine, still require following all three steps -- and even failing all three steps, may cause her conjuration through the action of interacting with the system as understood. So the least dangerous option is not just ignorance, but willful ignorance, to foil the system at step 2 and negate the third entirely. And that also means not interacting. The only winning move is not to play.
She trusts that we will eventually play right into her hands, even if immaru is incapable of controlling or bargaining with us. For sure, she does trust us more than she trusts her own ghost.
@@meanerminnermina7333 In other words, she trusts that Guardians will do the one thing they do best - steamroll over everything through as many deaths and revives as needed in order to accomplish our goal. She just took care to make sure the best paths towards our goal will all benefit her at the same time.
@@S3Cs4uN8What we can say for Immaru is, at least he's not deluded into thinking he's particularly clever. (This, incidentally, is why he keeps harping on about Eris having no plan; she absolutely does, but she's not sharing it because the walls have ears, he's not smart enough to figure out what it is and that just grinds his chitin something fierce.)
@@pcachu Once again showing that the Traveler certainly had a thing for pairing up Ghosts with their personality opposites, certainly not a universal rule but definitely a trend.
I've long since given up playing destiny because life doesn't allow for the time required to enjoy it, but these videos and your passion for the lore are the reason I still know about and care about what's going on, and I thank you for that
Not like it does anything for her now, she doesn't have a worm anymore so she can't draw any power from it, at least if Bungie's writers don't forget that part of the whole deal.
@@sylo1568 Eris can use powers of the Dark for herself. Savathun however, cant. This was described in the WQ glaives, that she no longer could use deepsight or powers of the Dark. She can relegate the Darkness stuff to other wizard's but the power itself doesnt flow to her. On the other hand Eris has always been able to use hive magic to an extent thanks to her experience in the hellmouth.
@@sylo1568 Savathun can't gain tribute that way anymore because not only has she lost her worm, and thus can't make any real use of the Darkness, but her entire Brood's Tithing system now flows backwards ever since she gained the light, ie: Power travels down from Savathun and not up to her. So even if she had come up with some way to draw power from that it would just end up coalescing in the lower ranks of her brood.
You know, for a while I was kinda sad that Oryx was the first to die, he seemed the most interesting to me(I'm still a tad sad) but bungie is really making me be more interested in the remaining two, it's really nice to see that Xivu is not the only one who can make all our choices bad, but Savathûn as well, really hyped to see where this goes
If the GotD armor says anything, Oryx isn't very dead. He might be "braindead" but he's slowly reforming, and could very much play a crucial role if the reformation was sped up. Will they do anything with the drop that he's still somewhat alive? Probably not, but there's always the possibility
my assumption with the imaru engine is that it's how we get a new exotic. my guess is that because maintenance was delayed, the actual secret in the secret was timegated till thursday, I'm hoping.
Thank you for the video. Honestly feel like I wouldn't be half as interested in Destiny without your videos. They help build the lore and world so much and help my own understanding, and things I miss playing myself.
It's probably just me, but Immaru sounds like the one girl in high school who pushes everyone away but writes in her diary about how pissed she is that the school heartthrob is dating the head cheerleader and not her. I think Immaru is mad that Moth Mommy loves us more.
Every time Eris says Aiat, it empowers Savathun. If Aiat means that you know that the previous statement is True, and said statement is in fact not true, you are being bewildered, and as such, generating Imbaru. Although we are in fact strengthening Eris through the rituals, since we are invoking vengeance with each ritual, by not understanding completely what we are doing, we are also strengthening Savathun. Remember: Savathun is a Hive God, and they don't need ghosts to be immortal. Not only that, but we also have evidence that point to the possibility of hive being able to communicate with their ghosts when they are dead. Maybe we are all playing on Savathun's hand, and even the fact that we killed her, is part of her plans.
I love that when Eris and Ikora debrief you, Ikora worries for Eris, but she warns YOU to watch yourself and watch Eris. The fact she still doesn't completely trust us is shown here, and for good reason. I love that detail.
@@zashimi1345 The Witch Queen lore confirmed she doesn't completely trust us (the Guardian) as we have multiple Hidden agents keeping a close eye on us. I think that distrust is pretty significant.
@@jaredtherock5692 Probably for the best too. If we didn't have immunity to corruption by being player characters we'd be mega evil by now. Apparently Dredgen Yor was basically the player Guardian of his time.
There's definitely an old lore tab somewhere that states Aiat means "This is the way it is, because it can be no other way." Which is essentially just a different phrasing of what Eris says here.
I like how this season has made savathun out as less a pure antagonist and more like our version of the baba yaga a witch that would as soon turn us to soup as she would give us magical items
I seriously do start to question the logic some people are following that "playing into Savathûn's plan" is somehow a worry? Why is that such a BAD thing? We're getting GOOD THINGS DONE, are we not? We're wiping Xivu Arath off the board, we're teaming up against the Witness. Why are we so worried JUST because it's Savathûn we're teaming up with? Focus on the results, people, which are GOOD results. The ends DO justify the means at least here in this case.
Simply because savathun can’t be trusted. How plan may seem good but there is almost always a darker side. Trust me I wish we could just go with her plan but you have to be careful
@@kyeda Yes she wants to stop the witnesses but it’s a personal motive. All her plans have a personal motive. Yes we did kill her but I don’t know if I would consider us stronger saying she is a new light bearer and that the only reason we stopped her is because we made her overly emotional
I think the reason most people are worried about is that this could end up being a monkey's paw. Sure we might get exactly what we wanted, but what will Savathun get out of it? Will we be in potentially deeper shit after she gets what she wants?
Well because Savathun only plays to her benefit, and had a history of extremely effective double crossing right at the very end. She did this with Oryx when she manipulated crota. She did this to crow when under the guise of Osiris. Did this to the entire city once again under that guise. And she did this to the entire coalition when she tricked us all to remove her worm so she could get the light. And every time things she was doing were at first appearing to be for our benefit, of out of a common goal. But right at the end she would sweep the rug, making sure that she would benefit far more. And if a plan appears to be beneficial to us, it is always with a catch. For example Savathun released Osiris when she escaped Mara's prison. Technically she didn't have to, but she did it because it accomplished two things: - Osiris would catch a part of the tower's attention and hold off Saint-14 at the very least. - Osiris was Savathun's insurance policy in case of her death, someone that could learn of the veil and kick off the process to get to the point we are at currently. And this is the case for everything she ever did. Any perceived benefits just exist to fuel more of her plans and therefore one must always be cautious
A point that may be significant: xivu wants revenge for her fallen siblings. Does that mean if she goes to war against eris, xivu will be tithing to eris through her war? It is semantics... but could be significant. Eris does not want war. Xivu wants revenge. Xivu must tribute to the eris for her goals. Eris does not need to tribute xivu.
I'm half expecting Savathun to go "Oh I had no idea what was gonna happen lmao" and that's gonna be one of the hooks. Interesting, but less so than a full fledged plan imo.
So wait, how does Savathûn benefit from the Imbaru Engine despite the lack of her worm? I thought the bargain with her worm is what granted that power. (Ignoring the fact she’s dead atm)
Since it's in her throne world, at this point it's more of a law of the universe(or at least of her universe, the throne world) With paracausality, things get kinda funky, but it does seem that one can influence the world to work as they desire, so even without the worm, her nature is cunning, and she feeds off cunning
There are times when I really think that Savathun,at the end of it all, just wants us to have an understanding of her. I know that sounds weird but think of it. The praise, the guidance, the older lore where she has interactions with humans, the leaving us bread crumbs to follow along. I dont know it sometimes just seems like she wants us to have a better understanding of her. Like to know thy enemy is to learn to love them.
The week-by-week progression triumph for the seasonal quest has 7 parts, so Week 7 is the conclusion of the story quest. I'm hoping that when time come for Immaru to uphold his end of the bargain, we have Light-suppressing tech ready to hit the little bugger and depower Savathun, then hold him hostage to extract her knowledge before killing both. But that's just wishful thinking on my part.
one thing i haven't heard anyone speak about is Finch's implications. He states that he can still hear his hive knight guardian screaming at him to be revived. He even has animations when you approach him of him basically throwing himself at the guardian in a NO kinda way. That being said i wonder how much of what Imaru is saying is his own and not him repeating what savathun is telling him to say. Because its confirmed that guardians can still communicate with their ghosts despite death we cannot rule out the possibility that savathun is way more involved here than we think. (Written prior to video, its been on my mind since last video)
Aiat in my understanding kind of means "Amen". Amen is an old word and therefore may have multiple meanings but from what I understand its meaning is "It is true" and "Let it be so". I truly believe its meaning is final.
@@danmorgan393 The Darkness is a thing of the mind, and Oryx wants knowledge to find and keep, so I would say it’s the transfer, gain and recollection of knowledge that would empower his…..thing. Whatever you call what the Imbaru is.
He wouldn't have one. Hive don't actually gain tribute from acts of their nature. Xivu does, because Hive gain tribute through war, and war is her nature. But Savathun and Oryx do not. Bungie forgot that Imbaru doesn't actually work. It was Savathuns goal, but we stopped her from making it real.
@@danmorgan393 Their natures can be invoked in rituals, such as the rituals Oryx used to bring them back from their Throne Worlds, or the ritual Savathun used to summon Xivu's armies to Torobatl. But this is not tithing. They specifically only get tithe from conquest. Everything Savathun has ever done has been because of that. Her attempts to escape it. Another quirk of their natures is that they are required to always embody their nature. If they don't receive sufficient tithe from conquest, they will starve, but also if they don't embody their natures, the worm will just straight up kill them. I suspect Bungie has gotten these features mixed up, coupled with spending a while writing for Xivu, who's nature as the hive god of war naturally gives her this "lose-lose, if she wins she gets tithe, if she loses we invoke her nature" scenario, so they forgot that Savathun cannot gain power from trickery. If you're unsure, ask yourself this. Why did Savathun want the light?
I find it interesting that Oryx was once female who was transformed into a male to become the Taken King with his plan that envies the sword logic. Now Eris who is female is in the exact path that Oryx envoked of which Xivu calls her a “sister”. Kinda make sense of a weird reincarnation.
It's entirely possible that more unique dialog, and other changes, were planned for the missions this week. But, many voice actors in the U.S. are members of SAG. With the current strike, they may have been unable to complete line recordings. 🤔
doubt it, seasons are completed more than one season ahead. that's why this is the first season that could have been written and designed with lightfall's feedback
I had legitimately no idea what I was doing when I first entered the Engine, but somehow I slammed it out first try with no mistakes. I guess my intuition is better than cunning.
Did anyone catch the subtle hint that Ikora gave us in her final line to us? That we are in control of this and can stop it, as if directing us indirectly to stop Eris if she goes too far. By any means necessary. Just a hunch from reading behind the lines.
Let’s go a byf video AIAT. Also since oryx conjured savathun with cunning could the engine be used to control/corrupt Eris and maybe make savathun the god of cunning and vengeance ?
I suspect the imbaru engine is actually Savathun's hint about how to overcome Xivu Arath, and one that shows Savathun is less clever than she thinks. Xivu is scraping our tributes to Eris by definition abuse. Fight -> do War -> invoke Xivu. However, Savathun's creation of Imbaru creates an alternate method - do something Xivu can't understand. This, of course, has the disadvantage of feeding Savathun... *if we play by the version of the rules that exists in Savathun's head.* There's a way to not only legitimately bamboozle Xivu's Sword-Logic-addled mind, but to do it without a drop of cunning, and even strip away the Hive God of Vengeance to boot. It's for Eris to show genuine mercy. The question is whether or not anything in the Sol system can convince her to.
Maybe once we separated Savathun from her worm, all of the imbaru she has generated has been storing in the engine waiting for us to come along with our hive powers. This could be what helps us and Eris to defeat Zivu's brood/Zivu.
i said as i logged in that this week is probly going to be a filler week. Was kinda chuckling to myself when that's exactly what it was. Not in the structure of it but in the sense that it didn't tell us anything new. I can appreciate that it was to familiarize those less familiar with the lore with the sword logic and such, but was also kinda hoping for something a lil more for those of us who already knew.
When I played through all of this during Reset, I was (understandably) freaking the fuck out. It drove home the belief that Savathun has been playing us like a fiddle since before Forsaken home.
Um Byf I hate to break it to to but the altars of summoning was important. When you start one from the beginning you can choose to channel one of two symbols. Choosing the one with only 3 gives you the lucent blessing. Those same two symbols show in the imbaru engine. The correct one is the same in both.
They feared her ways and knowledge but kept her on side, now that she's got powers to match her knowledge you fear her. You fear what you don't truly understand nor control, the comfort they had knowing they had the power to stop her at anytime is almost gone and that scares them.
What I don't understand, and what I'm also a bit surprised to see nobody else mentioning, is if Imbaru is Savathun's own twist on the standard Sword Logic/tithing system, which she no longer derives power from since she hasn't had her worm for a while now, how is deception and trickery still empowering her? How could Imbaru possibly still even be working since...Season 15 ended?
I personally feel that The Engine popping up with literally no... prior dialogue talking about it before it does is more scary and interesting than having Eris freaking out (unlike her IMO) over it showing up like it did. I don't think Savathun having this in her arsenal to only now be revealed would come as a surprise to Eris at all.
I think no weeks during a season should be a busywork season. The exception being COMMUNITY busywork to unlock something. I’d adore if we had a counter for tithes to Eris.
@@SnyperMK2000JclL Or Corridors of Time, or Seraph Towers to unlock Felwinter's Lie. They've been cool, but they're just hardcore grinds that get completed by people who play all day, and there's not really a 'community involvement'. Didn't they complete the Eliksni quarter for us or something, I remember one event being finished/made easier.
@@AyyFuji Niobe labs was auto completed... no one could figure out the puzzle/finish the encounter before Bungie had assumed it would be solved, so they just opened the Niobe Forge before like a week before it was solved...
@@AyyFuji I mean, bare minimum, this would be the season to do it. Lore wise tithing to Eris would get us somewhere. Have two endings/rewards to the season based off completing it or not.
I think it has changed since the last mandatory run right? New shrine that lets you purchase stuff inside the instance and new boss content plus I think they want you to remember the look of it before the imbaru run. I dunno…I might be wrong.
Respectfully, I think the critique section here is overly negative. It used to be that every week started with you doing 1-2 runs of the seasonal activity, and there was only a very loose attempt at story justification for why you should have to do that (i.e., defeat nightmares on the Leviathan to...sort of charge the seasonal artifact to use in the story mission, I guess?). Both last season and this season have done an excellent job of reworking and streamlining that structure. I think we can grant them one week of running some Altars of Summoning (especially since they've done a much better job of tying the need to do that into the story). Plus, IMO the regular, matchmade Altars of Summoning where you can increase the difficulty is more fun than the bespoke ones where they take you on rails through a watered down version of the activity solo. (I'm still looking forward to whenever we get to go into that cathedral/castle in the Altars of Summoning though.)
I was very disappointed that we don't stick to the *floor* in the imbaru engine, surely that would have been more confusing, but i guess the engine cant do it
I find it hilarious that we could literally LEAVE before finishing the puzzle, so we continued potentially tithing to Savathûn and making her more powerful for no actual reason except loot! It's the Leviathan all over again...
I had a dream last night where my ghost got shot and I had to find Eris in the hope that tithing to her would grant me immortality to take revenge for my ghost. I need to take a break perhaps
What if the Leviathan-Eater is being sent to specifically to crown Eris as part of the Patheon. Killing a being with that level of energy could completely overflow the tithes and it's what springs the trap. Xivu keeps on welcoming Eris, like she's already won... what if she has?
I do wonder what "Aiat" means in the context of Caiatl's name. Or the star, for that matter. The Imbaru Engine is huge, scary, but huge. It's existence alone is a bug oh no. While I wish there was more to it this week, its week one of the engine. It can only grow from here, right? I wonder whether the engine has any kind of relationship with the curse and its continued maintenance.
As a hearing impaired person the lack of subtitles is a detriment to the video quality. I'll continue to ask that Byf includes subtitles in his videos until it happens
Beginning of the season I don't mind having to run the seasonal activities as part of the weekly quest, they are still new, fresh content and I'm chasing red borders. Though having to run 5 Altars when I'm kinda sick of them and have everything I want from the season felt bad
Just a small feedback related to moments where dialog that happens in the game is being shown. You can please enable the game's subtitles? My native language is not English, I LOVE your content and watching it helps to improve my English skills, but without subtitles, sometimes can be hard to understand what is being talked. It's not really a problem, just a small thing and if it can't be done, it's ok. It will NEVER take the shine away from all your great content!
I had to immediately come to you and myelin's video after I finally got to do the story today because I just couldn't on reset and so on, because I was like... I heard that "This is the power of her brother" and I was like Oryx?! So are we actually dealing or generating taken energy? What even is imbaru? Wouldn't it be Immaru? Then my friend told me somehow that this is Savathun's energy I don't know how she figured that out because there was no mention of it. After the mission I was like "THAT'S IT? WE JUST DISCOVERED AND GENERATED PURE ENERGY TO *SOMEONE* WITH THIS ENGINE THAT WE DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT IT IS!" I was like this is WAAAAY TOO BIG OF A DEAL to just let it slide with no exposition after the mission wtf.
Seasons would be better if there were *full* story missions. Like the type of missions you get for DLCs. I know that's asking for a lot (because development requires time, money and resources that Bungie doesn't seem to have) but that would make the storytelling a lot better, and make the story more immersive. Hopefully that's what we're getting post-Final Shape. Also: These weekly stories need to be fulfilling. Like how Game of Thrones episodes were when it first started. The story progresses enough per episode that you feel like you went on a narrative journey.
I agree. Too many of these weeks are feeling like filler and they shouldn't be filler. They should all be moving us closer to the final shape and revealing more of Eris' plans.
Nothing to do with the video, but my headcanon is that the weapon crafting glitch was caused by Xivu as a way to bring about more war and death than usual at a greater speed XD
Logged on excited to do weekly story, went to helm listened to ikora, got told to go to altars of summoning and immediately logged off, just wish they would let us play the season at our leasure and not wait week upon week for little tid bits of information
So if we brought back Savathuun via conjuring cunning, would she still be separated from her worm? Would she still be the same Savathuun that was resurrected by the traveler? After all it was her worm that was fed from cunning, not her
Im pretty sure she Lost all her Hive Magic. If I remember, i think the wellspring is the (main) thing keeping It together. But Savathun herself is not anymore the "Goddess of cunning". Shes now just the Witch Queen, Who is also very cunning
Imbaru Engine: Maze, puzzle, problem. So to beat the Engine is to solve the problem. If you prove yourself more cunning than the creator of the puzzle by solving the puzzle without help, then you would gain power over them. The real question is: how long would that take? The longer we stay stuck in the Engine, the longer we empower Savathun.
Honestly i want to play the story but im broke and havent been able to buy the season and dont think i will till the last few weeks of this season so may as well watch byf recap it for me because im sure as heck going to forget after today
“They say there are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn’t true. The other, is to refuse to believe what is.” Savathun has lied so much that truth is now the deceptive option.
Byf Byf Byf please Also! Given imbaru is all about finding the right runes.... I noticed in altars, when you're invoking to begin summoning, there's a whole multitude of runes, well two flavours, one only has 3 alike and so every time I try to encourage guardians I play with to stand in those 3 spots. Now think of this! It's the same rune of the correct chests in imbaru.... Are we tithing to savathun too when we invoke the wrong runes?
I just want Savathun to come back and it turns out her “cunning” and “deception” in the plan was actually just plain honesty.
Based on how Imbaru works, truth is as powerful as a lie, moreso if someone believes the truth to be a lie. Their belief in a lie feeds Imbaru, and Savathun proving her cunning by being honest the whole time also feeds Imbaru.

If you fail, you strengthen them through the Sword Logic by proving yourself inferior to their machinations, but if you succeed by engaging with that which falls under their domain, that success is taken as a tithe and also strengthens them.

Savathun describing whats going to happen as just "weird", is maybe the single most intimidating line in the series because WHAT DO MEAN *THATS* WHEN IT GETS WEIRD!?
the fact that the Imbaru engine is a lose lose situation is so cool and so fitting for Savathun
I’m kind of intrigued by the micro-detail of the relation between Savathûn naming her cunning version of the sword logic “Imbaru” and then naming her ghost “Immaru”, like that can’t be a coincidence
It reminds me of tia and tamera for some reason...
Imbaru and Immaru are both summerian words, one meaning "mist" and the other "light". considering its canon that Savathun likes a good pun, it could be intentional !! especially as they're both ""devices"" that keep her going in some way.
@@inquisitorius427that sounds exactly like something she might do.
I swear that Sav is now just giving us mixed signals for the kicks.
@@lonewolfhero3526 Oh, she's rolling in her grave, having a hoot. Chuckling at us trying to not play into her hands.
The only winning move really is not to play.
Imbaru is the name of strength derived from a *failure* to *understand*. Broken down, this requires three things:
1. Something to understand
2. The attempt to understand it
3. The failure of the attempt
#1 is crucial because Savathûn can't, for instance, simply invent a word and grow strength from an audience that doesn't know its meaning -- otherwise we would never know what she's saying and she would have infinite power.
MAY THIS CHANNEL GROW FOREVER! AIAT! AIAT! AIAT!
I have a feeling that Savathun puts more trust in us than her own ghost. But like not in a good way?
I chalk that up to Immaru being wholly unable to get over himself alongside how narrow-minded he is.

The seasonal activities this time around are actually fun enough that I don't mind running them repeatedly.
Aiat is actually the third person form of Aio, which itself means “I say” or “I assert” in latin. Basically Eris is saying “Eris has spoken.

Famous last words....
Technically she didn't have to, but she did it because it accomplished two things:
- Osiris would catch a part of the tower's attention and hold off Saint-14 at the very least.
- Osiris was Savathun's insurance policy in case of her death, someone that could learn of the veil and kick off the process to get to the point we are at currently.
And this is the case for everything she ever did. Any perceived benefits just exist to fuel more of her plans and therefore one must always be cautious
A point that may be significant:
xivu wants revenge for her fallen siblings.
Since it's in her throne world, at this point it's more of a law of the universe(or at least of her universe, the throne world)
With paracausality, things get kinda funky, but it does seem that one can influence the world to work as they desire, so even without the worm, her nature is cunning, and she feeds off cunning

The praise, the guidance, the older lore where she has interactions with humans, the leaving us bread crumbs to follow along. That being said i wonder how much of what Imaru is saying is his own and not him repeating what savathun is telling him to say. The Darkness is a thing of the mind, and Oryx wants knowledge to find and keep, so I would say it’s the transfer, gain and recollection of knowledge that would empower his…..thing.
@@ASpaceOstrich Oryx resurrected Savathun by a great act of trickery and empowered her so I’m not sure that’s correct

The strangest part is that you hear her laughing... How is that possible? [Tithes Imbaru to Savathûn]
A recording?
Conceptually- the existence of the Imbaru engine is such a complex catch 22 that it truly displays Savathun's godhood has a god of deception
*if we play by the version of the rules that exists in Savathun's head.*
There's a way to not only legitimately bamboozle Xivu's Sword-Logic-addled mind, but to do it without a drop of cunning, and even strip away the Hive God of Vengeance to boot.
We already separated her from her worm back in Season of the Lost
i said as i logged in that this week is probly going to be a filler week. Was kinda chuckling to myself when that's exactly what it was. Not in the structure of it but in the sense that it didn't tell us anything new. I can appreciate that it was to familiarize those less familiar with the lore with the sword logic and such, but was also kinda hoping for something a lil more for those of us who already knew.
i like how the Hive have their version of “Amen”
Aiat is basically Hive for Amen.
For reference “Amen” means “This is the truth” as a declaration.
Thank you for trying to teach the devs every week. It’s not off-putting at all.
The hubris!
So aiat is basically the hive way of saying, “on god” 😂
Your work is amazing. Aiat.

I personally feel that The Engine popping up with literally no... prior dialogue talking about it before it does is more scary and interesting than having Eris freaking out (unlike her IMO) over it showing up like it did.

I actually liked this week better. It's nice to actually DO something to earn story progress rather than doing nothing like last week.

Yo you gotta do this weeks new lore big fan it’s very interesting
Thanks for the skip!
Nothing to do with the video, but my headcanon is that the weapon crafting glitch was caused by Xivu as a way to bring about more war and death than usual at a greater speed
XD
Just last week I thought about how characters always seem to act like we dont exist, then suddenly both characters are speaking directly to us.
The other, is to refuse to believe what is.”
Savathun has lied so much that truth is now the deceptive option.
Byf Byf Byf please
Also!
So Aiat basically is Senator Armstrong's "It has to be this way" condensed into a word.
if its right then I think the imbaru engine might be a big key in how savathun will come back (aside from immaru)
Honesty, I feel like Zavala checked out a bit after Season of Haunting(?). He trusts Ikora and will defer to her.
The way to conquer the engine is with Bomb Logic: Blow it up.
