I was actually going to do a video myself on these (on my Stock and Finish channel) because there's a lot of misunderstanding even in the collector community. There are actually THREE variants of the "OG" Studs, and not all of those are super thin cars stock that made these famous. Here are the three variants: 1) What you have. White letterbox style stripe border on top and bottom of tuck. "For Particular Players" on the bottom. The 2nd thinnest of the three, slightly thinner than USPCC thin crushed stock today (.268mm vs .273mm) 2. No letterboxing white border, huge UPC in the middle of the back design on the tuck, blank bottom, blue seal. These are the ones you want if you wanna know why these are famous. They are even thinner than the previous variant, similar to same thickness as Cartamundi's B9 Slimline (.259mm - .263mm) This makes them ALMOST as thin as the 1970 Jerry's Nugget decks. These are considerably softer, though. 3) The last variant is the least desirable because they're thicker than USPCC thin crushed and are a cheaper card stock. This variant does have a seal, but not UPC on the back (If memory serves, the UPC code is on the bottom of the tuck by now. This is the last variant made before they changed to the new tuck - and there's even less appeal to the new style. The key feature to look for on the most desirable variant is the huge UPC code right on the back of the tuck.
As I know, the more older Stud decks was also printed by USPC, but it had a different back design, and Hoyle courts as well. Then it still USPC, but usual Bicycle type faces and this back design, and somewhere Arrco did the Studs.
Hi man I love your videos. I wanted to buy my first ever deck of cards and I was really undecided. I wanted to buy either the new jerry’s nugget or a classic cherry. Which one do you suggest me to buy?
