    Being an avid chess player Go has always fascinated me but I had never taken the time to understand the game mostly because it has always been portrayed as a deeply strategic and complicated game. It's rather impressive that in a few minutes you were able to help me understand the basic concept of the game; and while I understand there are much deeper nuances to this game I feel considerably less daunted by it now. Well done.

      You know as they say about Go - a few minutes to learn, a lifetime to master. There's no need to put all that lifetime wisdom into a few first minutes, that's for sure =)

      @@GoMagicI'm a regular chess fan and I find go fascinating because of anime called *Hikaru no Go*, NOW I bought a 13x13 board game, and I hardly learning the ropes to it after playing an Go App....... I Would say it's alot confusing than chess.......

    • @NotMeJustborrowed
      @NotMeJustborrowed 8 месяцев назад +2

      @@GoMagicwell everyone has to find their feet in new discovers, I'd hope I'll master both chess and go before I die........ Id think even if chess has more distinct pieces, it's very straightforward, just defeat the opposing side by checkmate....... Yet go it's a little bit more complex since I hardly identify when does it ends...........

      My question for you is weather you think it is more strategic or not ,what your opinion and why?

      @@NotMeJustborrowed How is your learning? I started about the same time. Go has simpler rules than chess, but is much more confusing for novices, because is much more elusive.

    I thank you for this crash course on Go. I love games of strategy like Chess and Sequence, so this one is a good strategy game in a different sort of way. The game of Go brings to mind the Battle of Dyrrhachium in 48 BC, where Caesar's legions built a wall to trap Pompey Magnus against the sea. Pompey's men also built a wall to try and enclose Caesar's men, and it was a race of whose wall could trap the other first, much like Go. Caesar's men trapped Pompey, cutting off access to fresh water and Pompey was up against the clock. Sure, Caesar lost that battle and had to regroup where he ultimately won that civil war one month later at the Battle of Pharsalus to make up for that, but if the Battle of Dyrrhachium was a game of Go, Caesar would have won.

This video is just pure quality. i. swear i wanted to check the view count on this video so many times and was massively dissappointed at how this works. i can't blame youtube because go is not a very popular game it seems. However, this is the kind of tutorial any topic in the world needs.

    - execution of the tutorial = 100%
    - visual appeal = 100%

    Very well done indeed! I especially liked the various animations - they livened up the topic and keeps the viewer engaged (yes, we are all goldfish :)).
    The one point I think the video can improve upon: Summarize the rules (or the talking points) at the end in a short list. This way the viewer can see everything at once and even write them down in a concise way.

    My favorite size of board for go is 11 by 11. It is a nice "bite sized chunk" that does not take as long as the larger boards but it is still significantly larger than the 9 by 9 board so its a little less cramped and I find 11 by 11 to be a very pleasant size. It is also a great size for GONNECT which I have already said is (in my opinion) a better game.

    Years ago, I both read the manga (and watched the anime) about Go titled ‘Hikaru No Go’ by Yumi Hotta, Takeshi Obata, and supervised by Yukari Umezawa 6 Dan (presently but 5 Dan at the time). I wish I’d started to watch your videos prior to having begun the series! I believe it would’ve made reading and watching it much more enjoyable! Thank you!

    Was introduced in Go last 2007 cuz of the Anime Hikari no Go and never bothered to know who the game works, I was like (ok that happened and he win) now after decades I finally grasped the logic of the game. Too bad its might be a board game that doesn't or extremely rare in my country. Still glad I finally understand how Go works. Great video btw

    😂😂you know watching martial arts movies and seeing them play go always gave me stress. They usually showed them playing it for 100 years and when i saw this video i was hooked instantly. Surprisingly it's not complicated and i dont need 100 years to actually play and enjoy a game. So thank you. (Please pardon my english)
