Hi Peggy,I love watching and learning so much from your videos and I'm going to give leca a try with my poor little 2 leaf Ficus Teneke plant. I've never used leca before,so if this goes well, then will put many other plants in it as well. Thanks for this awesome video! And I was shocked to see your Raven ZZ looking so great in leca! I may have to do mine in it as well!
Leca has made my life so much easier when it comes to watering and I seem to have fewer pest issues. The ZZ Raven is loving Leca and is growing like a beast! Best of luck!
Hi Peggy, first of all, I love your Scindapsus videos, unfortunately I also have no luck with them and I killed a few, but I'm not giving up and will soon try to put them in Leca following your instructions so fingers crossed.
Thank you for showing your plants growing in leca, such a great video and so interesting. I can see how perfect it would be for traveling. I debated about buying larger plants that required hand watering because we didn’t want them to be dead every time we traveled. I think I will try your setup. I need to watch your other video now on how to use leca. :)
Leca is the perfect medium for people who travel, in my opinion. I use to be so worried about what condition my plants would be in when I returned home after being gone a week. Now I only have to worry about the plants that are in soil.
I will do my best to incorporate that into a video. I simply use the same treatments and add to the leca. Good luck with your pest battle. I can feel your pain!
Leca fixes a lot of problems. I’m going to purchase some pots like yours. I use a lot of glass too. I have just ordered my first grow tent. I need a light, so I’m definitely going to check out your link. 🥰
I agree! Leca has saved so many of my plants. I love my grow tent and hope you have the same experience with yours. No matter which grow light you buy, I highly recommend one that is dimmable. Thanks for watching!
Oh, wow! All of the plants that didn't handle the move very well are looking so beautiful. Now, about that Kentiana; mine is giving me a quite a few problems. Maybe, it's time for her to have a go in Leca. Thanks, Peggy. Great ideas.
So I'm not the only one who has done battle with a Kentiana. I have two others that I will be converting to Leca based on how much better the one in Leca is doing compared to the ones I have growing in soil. Best of luck with yours!
Your plants are doing so well in Leca unfortunately it’s not sold here in the Bahamas 🇧🇸 where I live so I have been experimenting with perlite. It is affordable and very light weight. My Hoya are loving it so far 🍃 After seeing your Ficus Tineke doing so well I think I will see how mine does in the perlite. Thank you for sharing 💚
I've rooted plants in perlite but have never actually left a plant in it to grow. Now I'm going to have to give that a try too! Happy growing and thanks for sharing!
Must try this with my Monstera Adansonii wide form -it is always dry/always yellowing , but on the flip side its cousin the narrow form stays beautiful. Trying to create nature in the home is a change.
Mine was almost dead prior to putting it in Leca and also on a moss pole. It has been growing like crazy since converting it from soil. In fact, I have another one that is still in soil that I've had much longer. It is growing much slower so will be converting it to Leca as well. Best of luck!
I can see you like those self-watering pots. I might have to get some of those. You shared some STUNNERS in this vid. Lovely collection! I love leca, but I can't figure out how to grow string of hearts in leca.
Thanks so much 😊 Self watering pots are my new best friends! With the number of plants I have, they make my plant care much easier. I've never grown string of hearts in Leca. I have some in my grow tent that I am propagating. Maybe I will give that a try!
Hi Peggy I saw your step by step Leca video . But I’m a little confused as to the self watering pots . Do they come with those open nursery pots ? If not glass can you see when they need water ? What is the little thermometer that sticks up in the pots? Where can I buy the pots? Where can I buy the leca ? This must also help with gnats! I hope can do this because there are some plants that I can’t please ! I hope you are enjoying your new home ! Thank you for this video , has really helped me! 🙋🏽♀️🌺🌸🌹🌼
I list links of most of the items I use in the description box. Yes, the self watering pots come with the net inserts and the thing that sticks up is the meter that shows the water level. For pots that don't have the meter, you just lift the net pot out and check to see if there's water in the bottom. Hope that helps!
I've only used Leca in my potting mix before to get better drainage. I am def gonna try to grow some plants in just leca now. It looks really nice too. Thanks for sharing.
I love growing in Leca. It really simplifies things for me. Here is a link to my step by step video on the method I use. ruclips.net/video/uj6UM-Jr9SU/видео.html Best of luck!
I just got extremely lucky and found a Monstera that had its own Monstera Thai in it. Well, i’m not even sure yet what it is but it has 4 leaves on it right now with a GREAT amount of yellow variegation on each leaf. I immediately removed the plant from the Mother and potted in a nice chunky soil and added a moss pole. Now i’m nervous and wondering if I should switch to leca. I’ve never used leca as of yet. I wish you could see my plant to tell me what it actually is…….I don’t want to lose this beauty 😩
It sounds like you stumbled on a nice variegated monstera. My suggestion would be to decide what you want to do with the plant and then leave it. Continuous change while it is acclimating to your home could be risky. Best of luck!
@@PeggysPlants Thank You! I’ve been subbed to you for a long time now……I absolutely love your collection, your home and you seem like the sweetest person ever. I enjoy your channel so much! I am almost certain I found an Aurea from my research, but I emailed Legends of Monstera from here with pics for one last confirmation but am waiting on his reply! In any event…..I’ve found a “QUEEN” amd cannot wait for my journey with her to really take off! Thank You Peggy 😀😀😀
I used PON on a couple of my plants but most of my plants are in Leca. My preferred self watering pots are usually the ones that are cheapest. 😆 However, I like the ones that have a water meter or that allow me to see the water level.
Hi Peggy PJ here, wat & where do u get those white pots with that little thing sticking out, is this a water meter? And next question, wat so u use to stakes up ur plants, I don't want to use a moss pole, for many reasons. Thanx Peggy
Hello PJ! There is a link in the description box to the pots and yes, that is a water meter showing the water level in the reservoir. I use anything to stake up plants, honestly. If I see a stick outside that will work, I grab it. Thanks for watching!
May I ask exactly what pots you are using? I clicked on the link you shared but it just took me to the Amazon web site. I definitely would love to try leca again and I really like your self watering pots.🌺💚🙃
It is fine to use glass without holes but the holes make it much easier not to over water and to flush the LECA when you have mineral build up. However, you can grow in LECA successfully without have holes in your vessel. Thanks for watching!
In self watering pots I see the roots came out , do you have problems with Roots sitting in water at the bottom of the pot? Because in the clear container you try to avoid that
Because I'm growing the plants in Leca, they grow water roots. They do just fine once they reach the water reservoir. I do repot the plants if there are a lot of roots. Thanks for watching.
i love love love leca! once i tried it i haven’t really gone back, i try to put anything i can in it 🤣
Same here. My plants seem to do so much better in Leca. Thanks for watching.

Some of my begonias, all of my alocasias, some anthuriums and some philodendrons are doing really really great in leca.
Leca certainly has been a game changer for me. It has made my fussier plants easier to deal with. No problems so far! Happy growing!

Hi Peggy, thanks you for being so helpful.
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching.
Your plants look amazingly healthy and the Vivosun seems incredible. Thanks for sharing Peggy 💚🌿
You're very welcome. I'm loving the Vivosun. It's so nice to be able to adjust the intensity. Thanks for watching!

My scindapsus are doing much better since I put them in leca. Hopefully you will have the same outcome. Thanks for watching!
Thanks Peggy. You could grow plants in rocks. They look great😊 Thanks for sharing. 💕
I don't know if I could grow plants in rocks, but you know I'd try! 😊 Thanks for the vote of confidence and for watching!

Yes Peggy I too love leica as medium for my plants. Since all my plants I grow outdoors I have no problem getting them to grow.
I use to be able to grow mine outdoors year round, but can't do that here. Thanks for watching!
I would love to see a video on pesticide treatment in leca. The spider mites and thrips are killing me D:
I will do my best to incorporate that into a video. I simply use the same treatments and add to the leca. Good luck with your pest battle. I can feel your pain!

It does make life easier once you've figured it out. Thanks for watching!
Peggy do you water root your Pothos prior to transferring to leca? You have such an amazing collection & a very soothing voice 😊
Thanks for the kind words, Jennifer. I actually root my plants in Leca.

Hi Ms Peggy
One quick question…is it ok not to put hole/s on the glass with leca?
Would appreciate your response

And you forgot to mention how much cleaner plant care is with leca!
I actually mention that in my step by step video. I agree, it so much cleaner to work with. Thanks for pointing that out.
Just curious, have ever grown a dieffenbachia in leca and if so what were your results?
I actually don't own even one dieffenbachia, so I have never tried them in Leca.
Hi where did you get those metal racks?

Will the green ZZ plant grow good in Lecca.
I don't see any reason why it shouldn't .
Hello! How do I switch my zz and my Swiss cheese from soil to leca? The last time I tried they died😫
