Our new banknotes that are now in circulation include 2 nation heroes or national figures on the notes. The new $2000 note has historical political rivals to display unity.
I'm curious to know why the supposed Chinese kid was so controversial. There are Chinese people living in Indonesia. Any Indonesian viewers here? Please help to explain.
Indonesian here and i try to answer as much as i know that The controversy start when some one tweet on Twitter accusing the boy wearing Chinese traditional attire and consider Indonesian government not nationalis, because Mainland Chinese are minority and not native to the island so it's weird seeing them on our money meanwhile there over 300 native ethnicities thats supposed to be represented on the money and the Indonesian Chinese itself who are already asimilate with local culture has their own uniquenes that different from those in the mainland so that's why it is becoming controversy.
In short, Some Indonesians have negative sentiments towards china and its culture. Plus, these people don't have broad insight, and think it's Chinese culture even though it's native Indonesian culture which just happens to be similar to Chinese culture. Actually, a lot of Chinese culture has lived in Indonesia for a long time, whether it's food, culture, dance, or people. In conclusion, they are fools, lack knowledge, and easily provoked
