- Thats right! I go over the steps I take to remove the 1.8 liter turbo engine with the 5 speed transmission attached. This video works for most mk4 Volkswagens (e.g. Jetta, Golf, Jetta Wagon) and it works for all the different engine classes (e.g. 1.8T, vr6, TDI) give or take a few steps. I tried to do a commentary video on this one so hang in there, trying new things! Ill say I need a new mic before you say it 😂

Making this timestamp list for myself, but might be handy for anyone else studying this video!
01:00 Remove wheels

03:13 Empty coolant, disconnect radiator + wiring, remove front support

04:45 Disconnect wiring harness + move aside (note to self: label everything)
05:57 Remove intercooler tubing from turbo
remove shift cable bracket/slave cylinder from trans
06:41 Remove power steering lines from pump + trans
Remove dogbone mount
disconnect fuel lines
06:59 Summon Trevor to help get engine on hoist
Disconnect motor mount bolts
Carefully remove engine...
Thanks for making the timestamps! I should of done this.
Happy you went more into detail than most
Thanks, hopefully the video helped you out in your situation
I appreciate all the info! I got a built motor in my 04 that I wrecked and I bought a 04 GTI golf that has a broken stud in the head so I’m wanting to swap everything over but it looks so challenging especially with the hex’s and allens along with all the crazy vw stuff. My old one also has Raxels.
Thank you! Very humble video, I like it :)
Nice job thanks👍 I need to remove tdi
Great video !
Excellent video
Thanks for the help !
Excellent video. Thanks for sharing! Any videos of a Jetta 2.5 removal?
Go back and listen to the video again. There are several places that will give you the answer to your question.
Great video man super helpful 👍🏼
Brehhh! I need help. Watch the video but looking for some more details I work on fords which are my personally vehicles and they are trucks😱 so removing a compact turbo diesel is foreign to me. If you have any advice please share!!!
what size is your long extension please when you remove the axles tia 😊
Need help with a vw 1999 golf oil pan replacement cant get the two 10 m screws that are near the gearbox
Try using a ball head 6 mm Allen key socket with a universal joint, preferably with a 1/4 inch ratchet. Also make sure to remove the dust cover on the transmission, held in by 2 13 mm bolts
How many hours to remove engine and reinstall?
hey man did u remove your condenser too?
What year is this car, manual or automátic?
Can you not drop the engine from the bottom?
I did this on a Mk5 - I seem to remember I could just unplug the loom from the ECU rather than disconnect all the individual sensors etc. Is that not possible on the Mk4?
Yes it is 😊
Great tutorial, man. I just have to ask, did you not have an air conditioning?
I do not have air conditioning. The refrigerant was taken out with an AC machine at some point in its life. MUST REMOVE REFRIGERANT BEFORE DISCONECTION OF AC LINES.
That's so unfortunate this is the one step I'm stuck on lol
Well this work for a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta 2.0L TDI 4d sedan?
This will work for 1999-2005. Slight differences between vr6, 1.8t, and tdi but relatively the same
What power are you running and what manifold are you using?
I made over 400whp at 25 psi of boost on a built engine and gt35 turbo. Ebay t3 manifold
