- We've had GT Sophy for a month on the PS5 and it recently ended... I decided to give it a good old try and shared my thoughts and feelings around Sophy... The GOOD, the BAD and what I would do to improve it!!..

I hope we will get full GT Sophy integration in GT7 through a future patch....it would make GT7 single player experience unrivaled in terms of quality of racing....and more importantly, I hope they increase the credits for custom races if you chose Sophy difficulty to at least 1.5 million per hour
The main change I’d love to see when it comes out in its final form is how it controls performance
Right now sophy is just “optimum” and you can only scale it back by giving yourself a car advantage
What they should do is customize how good she is depending on how good you are.
I imagine there are a bunch of metrics and they’re currently all turned to 100%
Eg
- braking at limit
- getting on the throttle at the early possible point
- maximizing corner speed
- controlling weight xfer
- perfecting line up to track limits
Etc
They could have variables in the code whereby sophy learns all these maximal performance figures but then in a race, the program takes some of the edge off. Eg, against this driver, she might wait an extra 0.2 seconds longer than necessary to get on the throttle and so on.
That was my thought also.
It would be great to see differences in driving styles
Remember how we were promised reactionary driving AGES ago when the PS2 launched with its so-called "Emotion Engine"? 🤣🤣🤣

No, you goof. Nobody thought the Ps2 was going to have AI with emotion lmao. The marketing was a graphical jump to further immerse you. Emotions are immersion. But who knows, maybe if they'd had you as their lead hardware engineer, they'd have cracked it in 1999.

@13:00 or therabouts, I do 1 race a day for money/warm-up/tuning session for the Daily Ticket(LM 700PP very wide range of vehicle selections, and fairly unique weather each race). Anything I do past that is just more tuning or racing or liveries. But yeah, grinding to at least get afloat in anything sucks.
Wish they would put at least a partial version of this into their regular ai, as it is now not only do the do not recognize you they actively crash into you. Never hear any of the RUclipsrs talk about had bad the ai is in this game cause they only care about multiplayer content but as someone who mostly does custom races this is what disappoints the most about the game
I disagree we have talked about it, in the very first stream on GT7 I talked about it. I mentioned it in this video to, but it's also been a known fact for quite some time in Gran Turismo that the A.I. is just bad.
Sophy has the advantage of... "seat of the pants feel".... where we plebs do not in sim racing.... 😢😂
I'd like to have a Sophie-ish AI between the hardest current AI and the current Sophy. Or at least a Sophy that somehow scans and mimics my own abilities. To be honest, on some tracks I struggle with the current AI, but that's okay, I just need to improve my driving. But seeing them do laptimes 3+ seconds quicker than my quickest when they are MILES behind me, or seeing them do laptimes 10+ seconds slower when they are miles ahead (for me to catch up), is beyond me. I hope, Sophy is not like that... (will find out once I got a PS5...)
Sophy has access to all the knobs at once.. let that sink in.. this is why Sophy is so competitive.
For me my preference would be world circuit tracks with Sophy, you select from Verte, Rouge, Bleue & Violette with a volume noob to turn then down to 80% or up to 120%. Either way we need her ASAP

In addition to the points mentioned in the video, I would like to see scalability of the AI that can be be manually adjusted or automatically adjust to your skill level.
Secondly, as per the video, changes in how Sophy drives based on interaction would be great. It would also be good to see interaction between AI drivers also influencing their emotion or driving style

Agree with pretty much everything you say, I would love it if GT-sophy was matched to player ability + a bit, help us all improve and perhaps you have to beat Sophy before joining online races. I am currently stuck in Driver class D - and get punted so much it drives me nuts, perhaps Sophy can be used to ensure quality...
I think gt8 is a good moment to buy a ps5 or a ps6 for that matter.on ps4 for now.

Good question, I suspect yes I don't expect a PS6 for quite some years (My guess would be 2026) and I would hazard a bet of GT8 being 2024/2025.
Given the years between numbered GT titles, I hope we aren't waiting that long to see Sophy in the game; will we see GT8 before 2028?
Isn’t there a middle ground between the very slow GT AI and Sophy which is tough even for World Tour drivers? Assetto Corsa AI are hard but not superhuman.
Tidg something i also thought of for sophy, in online racing, sophy could be used as a filled in opponent for when people back out or disconnect just to keep the races full with maximum capacity of players. What you think?
Very good idea to be honest, not sure we could use it in world series situations though due to points etc.
@Tidgney very true. Yeah definitely just limit it to daily races, mainly daily C since its more longer, and not in GTWS because of the points and stuff.

Tidge stop ramming Sophy, you'll make Alexa jealous 😂 , yep I enjoyed Sophy but I'll be honest the 1v1 Alsace and Trial Mountain I had to use underhand tactics they were just too fast for me and if it wasn't for the nature of both Suzuka and Sukuba Sophy would have cleared off into the distance. I thunk Sophy A.I will feature in GT7 more because there wouldn't any point in having a few sample races now if it's to be fully implemented in GT8 because that is years away imo, I think we're looking at at best 2026 for GT8 and depending if it will require a PS6, if that's the case it could be 2027/8 , I have mentioned this ages ago but if you recall GT3 with the B-Spec races well using Sophy for an updated version of that would be cool where you have an A.I that has learnt your style of driving and then can be entered into a race!
In Toca you're talking about rival BTCC drivers, the main ones were Alain Menu and Jason Plato, also Grid had that same sort of thing to. Cheers Tidge

I kind of wonder if they will do a GT8? Kind of take all the new tech they've built and then make it PS5 only with a huge bump in visuals, something like 3 years from now.
That's what I expect if I'm honest. GT8 being GT7 but working and solely for PS5 so better optimisation

I just don’t understand where this is going. I enjoyed it, but like you said you’re in the top percentile and you had to be on your game. I’m not horrible and couldn’t win every one. So all this hype and development and we got a timed event that most people couldn’t overcome. Seems strange to me. I’d love to see Sophie as the ai in all the races, with difficulty tunable.
Edit- I’m talking about racing legitimately. Running Sophie wide or narrow made her run off and then you can win easily.
I bought GT7 expecting this to be part of the game. if they dont add it in until GT8 I will never buy another GT game again. They are drip feeding us a game we should have received from the start

I don’t like the idea of Sophy emoticons impacting their driving. IRL you want to hide your feelings. Never let the competition know you’re nervous, scared, or any other emotion that they could exploit for an advantage. The whole emoticon thing is gimmicky imo and I’d like to see it go away. If they want to show off the AI emotions they should do AI drivers’ meetings after the race. Any display of emotion during the race should come from the way she drives (eg when her emotions betray her and she can’t hide it.). Maybe a finger out the window 😉 but the emotions stuff they’re using now is lame. Love sophy overall tho
I notice something on your video that I have noticed in game on my system. The accelerator bar doesn't go all the way to the line anymore. There a mechanical problem there or is that the new norm?

What are you talking about? @10:39 is one of the countless moments where the power bar is at the max.
@@sportbikejesus6297 there is a little gap between the top of the bar and the meter reading that is 100%. I never noticed it before. Before, if this was happening, it usually meant it was time to clean the potentiometer and your pedal was maxed to 99% until you did so.
