    Hello MotorInc!
Just wanted to give my 2 cents on the bike since I was one of the first few guinea pigs who bought the Mach 1. Will try and add points to what was already discussed in the EP.
    Upgrades:
    1. The software upgrade is FREE for all the previous owners which is a positive, however, you do have to change the aux battery for 3k in order for the security systems to function when the bike is not armed.
    2. The added REGEN levels are a big boon considering the first iteration was not noticeable between different modes. Also, the ability to change it on the fly (no pun intended) is helpful when you are entering city limits from your highway rides or vice versa. This was not available earlier.
Regen levels 7-8 works best in the city and 2-3 on the highways. If you want to do the occasional lavasa twisties, ballistic and regen 9 is recommended as it mimics a stronger engine braking setup.
    3. For Mach 1 owners, it’s a 24k upgrade if you want the panel/color upgrades to Mach 2. I did not go for it considering the color combos look good. For reference, I have a Shadow color scheme which was earlier 2 shades of grey but now has red for an amazing contrast. The plastic quality as discussed has improved significantly. Earlier it was prone to scratches a lot, now not so much.
    4. During the upgrade they also changed the chain (free of cost), better quality for sure.
    Usage:
The bike has two moods, one in the dry and the other in the wet. It’s fun, fast and efficient in the dry (totally how you want to ride it). In the wet, it changes character to a dirt bike because of the design flaw in the rear mud guard. If you ride hard, the spray from the rear soils the motor, the rear seat, your back and also goes over your helmet. If you are really careful with the throttle you will still ruin your rear seat. So if you don’t have a raincoat handy, good luck with your laundry bills!
    1. As discussed in the EP, for anyone buying this for a sports bike experience shouldn’t. It is a really fast accelerating commuter (in the right mode). Can you tour on this - Yes you can! But your patience is tested when you are charging after every 180-200 kms.
    2. Charging times from 20-90: ~3 hours (Don’t recommend charging beyond this especially when touring). A boon, most hotel owners don’t ask for money for charging if you have an accommodation or when you have stopped for lunch. I managed to do a 1000kms ride from Pune to Konkan and back for Rs.400
    3. Maintenance is affordable as service cost are in between 2-2.5k per service.
    4. Riding is effortless, love the whine from the engine. My friends complained it sounds like a really sophisticated food processor. But WTH!
    Response to feedbacks:
Team UV has been very responsive to clarify concerns, however, the resolution time depends on the problem.
    1. Software glitches: gets addressed immediately. They can monitor your riding and precisly pin-point what the issue is.
    2. Software errors related to hardware components takes a bit more time due to part availability (usually shipped from Bangalore)
    3. Other parts such as the rear mud guard design is flawed and the feedback given 1.5 years earlier is still not addressed.
I hope this helps someone wanting to own this bike. But as Shumi says, Test Ride and then evaluate.

    • @ishaanijk5822
      @ishaanijk5822 Месяц назад +7

@@HarishBabuM EVs don't have engine (ofc) and hence do not have engine braking like normal bikes do.
So without this regen if you close the throttle then the bike just continues going ahead and only natural physics (air drag / friction etc) would slow it down.
EV Companies now give a regen/regeneration option that basically intentionally slows your bike down when you close the throttle.
      This helps in few things.
      1. the feel of engine braking
      2. Bike slows down without the need of using brakes
      3. Bike intentionally slowing down actually regenrates some power (hence the name) which will actually increase your range
      TC is traction control
Basically if you accelerate and due to whatever reason maybe you give a bit too much throttle / maybe there's gravel or its wet or due to any reason if while accelerating, the back tire spins more than the front, this means it is sliding and can be dangerous especially if the bike is at a lean.
Hence TC monitors the tire speeds of both the wheels and while throttling if the back tire has higher speed than the front one, it reduces the throttle input till the two tire speeds match.
Levels will just adjust the intensity
Higher Regen will give a higher braking once you close throttle
This would be good in city as you'll use brakes less
This would not be convenient in highways as you'll always have to keep throttle open else you'll slow down fast
Higher TC level basically means you're bike is extra sensitive to the back tire sliding
It will reduce the throttle input whenever it thinks that the back tire will spin
This is good for safety but this might intervene a lot and can annoy the rider.
Keeping it at a lower level means less intervention, rider feels like he/she has more control over the vehicle.
And you allow the back tire to slide a bit while accelerating, which can be fun as well.
IG burnouts can be possible only if TC is off (not sure)

Thanks, Motorinc, for this awesome video! I just wanted to add a few thoughts from my own experience.
I used to own this bike before I sold it. My thinking was that if I’m spending over 4 lakhs on a bike, I should be able to do some touring with it. But that turned out to be pretty challenging with this model. For city riding, it’s great-you save a lot on fuel, and it’s super easy to commute with. However, once you take it outside the city, things get tricky. To really maximize its range, you have to maintain a speed between 30-40 km/h, keeping the kWh usage under 40. Plus, things like road elevation and wind resistance can really eat into the range, increasing power consumption a lot.
So, if you’re thinking about getting this bike for both city riding and weekend touring, I wouldn’t recommend it. The charging stations are pretty far apart-most are at least 100 km from Bangalore. I actually had a bad experience when the Supernova charger didn’t work. Thankfully, I had brought the standard charger with me, but it took forever to find a local shop to plug in. It was a huge hassle, especially with no customer support available on weekends, so you’re pretty much stuck if something goes wrong. The standard charging time is about 9 to 10 hours for the Recon model, and even the boost charger takes 7 hours.
Also, the numbers claimed by the manufacturer are really hard to achieve in real life. One more thing-the bike uses a Type 6 charging port, which is the same as Ola’s, but I tried using their charging station for the F77 out of curiosity, and it didn’t work. I really think they should switch to a CCS2 charging port, which would give us access to a much broader network of car charging stations across India.

I have no plans to buy an electric bike any time soon nor am I into sports bikes in general, but listening to Shumi and Karthik talk is so captivating that I'm hooked :D Regarding the conservative limits for the various ride modes, why can't they simply let the user configure it? Maybe set the defaults to 30% and 20%, but let the user go into the settings and change it based on their preference. That would give them an additional data point for how their customers are actually using the bike.

Hi, I want to share a few insights as an Electronics engineer and a long term EV user and enthusiast.
    1. Power = Vtg × Current. As the battery pack discharges, the motor has to draw more current to generate the same amount of power. So, the limit for top performance modes being limited when certain discharge happens is NOT just a range issue. It is also to protect the motor and the cells because high motor and cell temperatures are directly related to higher current draw and causes shorter life of those components.
    2. Never charge your new EVs and phones partially, whatever any youtube video tells you. All the optimisation of additional spare capacity and minor current cell balancing is all done internally. Once you start charging, always let the charger auto cut off. If your usage is extremely low, you should still ensure your battery pack charges to full and auto cuts off atleast twice a week. This ensures the state of charge reading does not go awry.

Loved your episode, but I also love and I may agree to the idea of UV F77 being a street bike rather than a sports bike. I however, love the aviation marketting thing and especially the stickering and all, because of my huge affinity to Aviation in general, and I find aircrafts really cool. On a bike, it may not be Shumi's taste but, it's kinda mine and I take it in a light-hearted fun manner.
Since, I'm not a pilot, but have watched Top Gun and Top Gun:Maverick and spent a few hours on various old school Combat Flight Sim games like Novalogic MiG-29 Fulcrum, F-22 Raptor, F-16 Falcon, DID:Total Air War, and some new school sims like DCS:World (much more complex and realistic for what you see on a computer), I think I may or may not be qualified for 'schooling' you (while using wikipedia to confirm my knowledge 😜, and this is just for fun and in light-hearted and jovial terms) on what Fox Codes are in simple terms.
It's not the number of pylon/hardpoint from which the missile is fired. A Fox code represents the type of Air-to-Air missile a combat aircraft is firing. This is used by NATO(Western) air crafts, as a standard procedure, depending on the rules of engagement. There are 3 Fox codes -
    1) Fox 1: Semi-Active Radar Homing. This kinda missile only receives Radar signal reflected from the adversary aircraft, which The Attacking Aircraft uses it's own radar to "light up" the adversary aircraft, and the missile homes into the site picture painted by the aircraft. Here, the type of missile is dependent on the Attacking aircraft and its radar picture, for guidance.
    2) Fox 2: Infra-red Homing. These are the missiles commonly known as Heat-seeker missiles. They are fired from the Attacking Aircraft, and these type of missiles home themselves (hopefully) into the adversary aircraft's Engine's Hot Exhaust's Heat Signature. Here, Radar isn't involved. The missile is guided by the heat signature.
    3) Fox 3: Active Radar Homing: These missiles have their own radar tranciever, that is, it can emit and receive radar signal. This is a smarter type of a missile, into which the Adversary aircraft's info is fed into by the Attacking Aircraft electrically before firing. This missile autonomously tracks and hits it's targeted then. There's a mention of Guns as a Fox 3 code in the olden days, but now, it's the Active Radar Homing missile that stands for Fox 3.
This is what these 3 basic types of Air-to-Air missiles are designed to do. They can be countered with different counter measures that it, by maneuvering the target aircraft (if they are aware that they are a missile's target) and/or by dispensing flares and chaffs. The Attacking Aircraft may also lose their apparent stealth factor and announce their presence in situations, for example, they use a Fox 1 and use their radar.
You never know, when this info could become handy! 😉
Also, If there's a real pilot in the comments or some who knows better than me, do correct me.
    Cheers!

As a f77 rider what was mentioned about the bike are facts.
    1. Power train/motor Performance is next to lag free unless you drive like a maniac.
    2. The weight is an issue, atleast for a person who is more than 90kg, as the whole weight tends to fall on wrist & palms. Also because of the weight, the bike suddenly jerks forward even after hard braking, happened with me often. ( complained to UV waiting for reply since 6 months). And if there’s a pillion expect pain in wrists and palms for an hour once you get down the bike.
    3. The parts which might give you trouble is chain & sprocket rattles a-lot once used for 10k kms and still left with some life, sometimes screen freezes, if its Mach 1 then tail fender which will loosen overtime, depending upon where you live switches/buttons on bike turns hard to press which will be irritating neither service centre guys will be able to do anything about this issue, the plastic flap is so flimsy that it will lift during pressure wash and then the water gets into charging socket and as the service team is relatively new so now and then they forget to tighten the bolts so please be aware.
    4. The headlight feels inadequate and stressful on an highway, auxiliary lights from the company would be really helpful.
    5. DC charging network and facility
Good bits: Aesthetically good looking in few angles, performance, hydro phobic screen, less maintenance in long run, prompt response from team, works flawlessly even in knee deep water, provided with good charging network and less charging times this could be a great tourer too

As an f77 Recon Shadow owner (done 15k+kms) which got Mach 2 software upgrades for free.
I really felt that REGEN with a hand lever would prove much more practical & efficient.
Also it would’ve been nice if they’d replaced the Charging lid and rear number plate holder for free because they’re the cheaper bits on Mach 1 and tend to wobble a lot.

There are so many aspects that didn't get covered in a 50min video which is quite crazy. As an owner for over a year, I think I should write this. I've covered 18,000km on the F77(now M2). I also know the team at Hangar in Bangalore because I fast charge there frequently.
I still own my R15 but last year I gave up my rc390 after several long test rides of the F77 and there is no buyer's remorse. It is a great vehicle. I also own an ather but this one is my daily ride.
Modes - you're right. They are cautious on new untested stuff.. but known to unlock capabilities after validation.. I'm waiting.
Traction Control - T1 is the real deal.. t3 is simple and intrusive. Not sure why you even used it even in rains, it is made for noobs.. T1 allows for controlled slips and that is refined.. . Infact that's my default setting because you get a taste of that torque every time you get some smooth surface or gravel ..ans it's got you covered and you retain control ..
IMU - the vehicle has an IMU I wouldn't be surprised if they unlocked cornering tc and abs
Ergonomics - lower body wraps around the bike.. and it is built for that.. infact this ergo is way better than my older rc390.. and the handlebar is even higher than my r15. To each his own but it is aggressive and fun
Committed riding position yes.. but most sports bike owners know that you hold your core and wrap your legs to the vehicle then the strain is on your palms is less.. this is very basic.. also helps with maneuvering and CG control
Incognito Mode - it's a giant switch in the left menu of the App. Not sure how you missed that!! Been there for over a year.
Battery charge limits - great feature. With charge limited 90.. regen is always there and I toggle to 100 only when I'm doing a long trip
ACWS.. 😆 😆. They definitely went overboard with that name for sure. I've disabled the motor armed warning.. but the regen active warning is useful since I'm always at the highest level of regen
I'll stop now since this is really a long comment. I think people don't fully appreciate what Ultraviolette has done here.. look at the BMW CE04. Similar features at 230kg and 14.9L and the recent CE02 at 4.5L...a joke...
It is incredibly hard to get this right and i think UV has done a kickass job...

One doubt if the vehicle is a blunt instrument isn't that kinda tangent to what Schumi said at the beginning about the going over the crest and feeling heavy. One thing i would like to add is about the charging infrastructure. Ofcourse they are setting up “fast chargers” on highway routes and the network would soon expand but unless the fast chargers for two wheeler evs are standardised (as they are for four wheeler evs) so that third party players can also setup two wheeler fast chargers, it doesn’t give much confidence to tour on f77.

    • @motorinc
      @motorinc  Месяц назад

Agreed @satyabratapal8977, this is a catch-22 because EV motorcycles have to become feasible for third parties to consider this and EV manufacturers have to absorb losses to keep making the motorcycles, which isn't always in their control.

Couple of questions for you: what is the weight of the bike? A hypothetical situation, but would like @shumi to pitch in. If i were to take the F77 recon Mach II to MMRT, what will the laptime be close to? A duke 250? an RTR310? I am sure it is not coming close to the d390, let alone the rc390.

We'd be very surprised if the F77 had laptimes in the same zone as the 31-35bhp bikes. Even if it did manage these early in a session, heat management as the session progressed would come in the way. And finally, we did have one student who came to the school shumi teaches at on the F77. And he had to charge his bike everyday at lunch and if Shumi remembers right, missed one of the sessions to charge not being enough. At which point, the F77 as a useful track tool is still, to shumi, a bit of a hypothetical situation.

Stickers!! Precisely the reason why the Ducatis are beautifully beautiful in a league above the rest owing to their minimal sticker work. I often wonder why designers have to rely overtly on stickers to make a machine look more visually appealing, rather than acknowledging the fact that automotive styling and beauty is/or should be more of an intelligent play between the effects of lights, highlights and shadows (like how a light reflects off the edges and curves of the chassis in contrast with the darker, shadowed areas).

    • @motorinc
      @motorinc  Месяц назад

But we haven't seen anyone else who uses these many stickers either @oshisles! And just so if any manufacturer is reading this, this is not a challenge! 😄

Wait, is it supposed to be like a fighter jet or a space ship? They should call the dealerships, hangars. They can also offer 'mid air refueling' where a truck comes alongside you on the highway and you ride alongside while charging your battery. That will finally make it cool!

Shumi, how would you compare this suspension to let's say mavrick? Just curious 😅

    • @motorinc
      @motorinc  Месяц назад +1

Not even close. The Mavrick - in its role as a comfy/retro/odd-naked bike - is far superior to the F77M2 - in its role as a sportsbike/electric.

In all honesty, even more than a street naked, a proper, large sized electric tourer (not even an adv, something akin to a cruiser, or a Honda Goldwing) would make far more sense. I know it goes completely against the whole fighter jet marketing shebang, but hear me out:
    1. An anyways large and heavy format, wouldn't nearly suffer as much from having an electric powertrain and batteries
    2. Considering the monstrous amounts of torque Ultraviolette's motors seem to be capable of generating, it would be perfect for load and luggage carrying
    3. Massive saving of expense considering it's an electric, where putting in the miles is the best way to maximise return on investment.
    4. bit of a stretch, but novelty factor. A PROPER all electric touring-bike (not like the komaki ranger) is an almost non-existent format, so a brand offering something like this, especially considering the advantages, as well as the way UV has managed to tune their Power units, it would seriously give the brand and bike a serious USP, especially considering its ambitions to compete in international markets, where expectations from touring motorcycles are extremely high.
    just my opinion tho :)

5:20 You guys have said this a lot of times where you say you will know more about a vehicle when it comes for a detailed story, but i dont seem to know where these stories actually come. I have only seen motorinc firsts. Where can I see them? Do you guys have another channel or something? Basically, give me more content lol

Shumi, Karthik Just one question, Can this be my first bike for city commute mainly and very occasional weekend rides; the base variant, not the recon one (as it's 10 kgs lighter).
Also, I would have loved to see a comparison between the 2 models for instance how does the less weight affects the driving as compared to the recon model? And any other points - you get my point. Please assist.

    • @motorinc
      @motorinc  Месяц назад +1

Yes, definitely it can. Less weight means less range and slightly less performance but that trade-off might work for you. But will it mean a magical change in how the weight affects the feel? We would say no. And is this first bike of yours a good representation for a what 2024 sportsbike is like? Unfortuantely, no.
