This is a wonderful channel. You are a very good instructor, clear and precise. I have never known how to repair china or porcelain but I feel I can now give it a go. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.
Hi Janet, many thanks for your comment i really appreciate it. I have almost completed the course and will be keeping you all posted. Are you working on any piece of pottery at the moment?. 😃
@@theceramicrepairstudio I have a lovely old lamp made from a Satsuma vase - one of a pair. The lamp was damaged in a move and has a crack. I don’t know how to support the body while I take it apart to work on it. I’m hoping to find the answer and reassurance in your videos. I’m not sure if I should try to make an invisible repair or go the kintsugi route. I’ve not made such a repair on something so large and valuable and I’m very nervous. I keep watching your videos hoping I’ll find one to encourage me! At this point I’m using the vase with the crack turned to the back. I have not found someone in Houston Tx to do the repair but after watching you work I am hopeful I can be successful myself.
@@janetbyrne7765 Hi Janet, if your vase is cracked and not broken in pieces I would just fix the crack, not create any more damage by taking it apart. 🥰
@@theceramicrepairstudio Thank you so much! I think you are quite right about that. I was hesitant to do ANYTHING because I was afraid I’d ruin it instead of repair it. But I can repair the crack easily enough, and stabilize it. It was a gift from a dear friend and I treasure it as I treasure that friendship! Which video do you recommend regarding the crack?
Hi Ali.....just discovered your channel. It’s brilliant, you are brilliant. Love love love what you are teaching...thank you. Congrats on getting over £1k subscribers. Well deserved x x
Hello Ali, A huge CONGRATULATIONS on reaching the 1,000-subscriber milestone… It is richly deserved… Also, good luck with the course you are preparing. Take care. Paul,,
There is a small instrument made for smoothing wall paper seams that would work well as a "rolling pin." Actually, it is about a 1 inch small roller. (It also works great for quilters as a quick seam press.) Love your informative, instructional videos, but where can one purchase milliput, Araldite, and that anti-yellowing powder ?
Hi there, many thanks for your comment much appreciated. Milliput and Araldite can be bought usually on Amazon, although you can probably also get then in an art suppliers. Titanium power is from Conservation Resources. 😃
Instead of being vases, is it possible that these are lidded pieces similar to ginger jars. Couild be the the reason so much damage to the top edges. Just a thought, and really enjoy your program!
Check out my latest course for beginners in the description box ❤

I am very interested in your modules! You are so clear, and nobody else does this kind of demonstration on pottery.

@@janetbyrne7765 Hi Janet, I will do a video soon on radial cracks as it depends on the material as to which glue to use.🥰

Hey Ali - another stupid question - what do you use to get the shiny clear finish back on after using acrylic paint?
I use a Rustins glaze. There is also a Winsor and Newton glaze which is easier to get hold of. 🥰
