Hi, could I ask you, or anyone here actually, a question? I have a chipped mug (on the outside bottom part) and I also have the porcelain chip that broke off. Would it be better to glue on that part or rather work with miliput? I think somewhere I read that those epoxy glues are not heat proof? I wondered if one can still use a mug that gets hot with a glued on part? I would be very thankful for answers! Greetings Liv

Very useful video, but if you're going to make videos for public viewing you should have all your materials prepared and ready to hand, otherwise your video will look very unorganised and amateurish. The nearly empty glue tubes are a no no! Good luck with the next one.

Do you just use tape to keep everything together while it’s drying? I’ve definitely had that problem but don’t know any other way to keep the joins tight while all the pieces dry.

Better using super glue

I was trying to tell somebody about your videos. I wanted to show them the before and Afters and I’ve looked at seven videos and all I see is you filling in chips. I don’t see any of the before and after amazing painting jobs that you do when you fill in cracks and fix chips.I saw seven videos and none of them were finished. I don’t have any more time so I guess I won’t share them with her.

hi, just wondering about Rustins Ceramic Glaze. Ive seen you use it on your channel before. I used some by airbrush - diluted with a touch of water - to put a gloss finish over an acrylic airbrushed porcelain figurine repair, but the sheen still is not high gloss and somewhat matte textured. It says you can oven bake it for while , will baking give it that smooth high gloss look? Or can you recommend any clear coat that can be airbrushed on for a rock hard high gloss permanent finish?

Hi, Time says 0: 12- but it is 4 PM here in Michigan. Thank you for these terrific videos. I have a BFA in Studio Arts, with an emphasis on Ceramics. I worked as a designer/ Creative Director / Ceramic Engineer in CA, but have retired to rural Michigan now. I am buying, selling antiques Ive picked up. Many are ceramics, porcelain, and some are quite valuable, but may have a tiny chip. Ive always wanted to learn to repair these correctly. But now I live in a rural area, not close enough to any classes. So glad to find your You Tube repair studio. Im just starting in, but plan to to watch everything. Thanks again!

Hi Alison, absolutely fascinating what you can learn on RUclips these days! A week ago my wife was disappointed to find (nothing to do with me, honest) her Winstanley cat had a chipped ear; I am her normal fix it guy so I figured out it would need filling, sanding, painting and glazing. If this was wood that would be fine, but I had no idea how to even start with ceramics - my word your videos are good. Everything I need in one place. One problem, I have showed them to my wife and she has now started to search boot sales and charity shops for damaged items for me to repair; my first order of Milliput has not even been delivered yet!

Great video, thank you !! I have one beautiful bowl I got free because it has a chip in it but I don't want to buy all these products I wouldn't use again. Is there something else I could use; I would only be displaying some beautiful faux fruit in the bowl so it won't be washed thus wearing away the repaired section which is about the size of a dime and unfortunately on the very edge of the bowl. Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated !! 😊😊

I learned about Milliput in 2021 when my sister (who was at the end of her cancer journey) had a fall in her garden. She'd broken her fav ornament. I asked my aunty, who i knew makes and sells pottery, down in Devon. If she knew if it could be repaired without using that awful glue that goes yellow. She recommended Milliput. Wow! The things i have repaired since then is endless. It's amazing stuff. I just didn't know about the Ruskins glaze product. I'm looking forward to trying that out.

This method is obviously used on asian porcelain, which usually contains lead and is meant for decorative purposes.

I keep my various grits of sandpaper in file folders, so 40-100, 120-320, 400-600, 1000-3000.

Is the bowl food safe after the repair?

I think maybe if you'd taken pictures before soaking the pieces apart, you'd know where the pieces went. Maybe they weren't supposed to be glued together if they don't fit now. They fit before somewhere. 🤔
