It's actually kind of bad now, and I watch every video on this channel. The top weekend cars are made to speed in and not be comfortable, and the comfortable cars are mostly down the daily tally. It's becoming confusing because the top overall scores are going to things like a Ferrari or Lamborghini, so is this DougScore based on fast cars with some boot space?
Rolls-Royce for e.g. aren't practical, I get it as I know they couldn't score high on daily, too expensive and big in every sizing dimension.

I really appreciate how you keep your analysis focused on the type of car you are reviewing. Like you don't expect a McLaren to have the storage space of a minivan, or to tow a boat. Other reviewers, especially Consumer Reports, commit that sin frequently.

Yes, I've lost understanding to the DougScore. Why would everyone require a fast car with a large boot? Speed is meaningless to us and almost nobody can afford a novelty car as secondary.

This is the first supercar that Doug's reviewed that I haven't thought it was in line with my own ideals without too much compromise. Attractive exterior, engaging interior, decent technology bonuses for its age, plus a hard top convertible to boot? That's pretty awesome.

P1 is a Formula 1 (F1) meaning 1st place. Its interesting to see such a thorough review from one so ignorant. The F1 link and driver focus makes McLaren cool. The cool score was way off, why do so many RUclipsrs have them? It was still a nice unbiased review though.

AKzebraMiner Hypercars perform better and are lighter. No one knows exactly what a Hypercar is but many car manufacturers are try to define what a Hypercar is.
Hyper cars define the top 1% of super cars. Sure, they're the same thing.. but the point at which we've got a level above a standard supercar (i.e., 911, Huracan, 650S, etc.), there's got to be a way to label million dollar and even higher performing cars (the LaFerrari, P1, 918, Hyuara, etc.). I as well as most of the automotive industry would argue that "Hypercar" seems to be an appropriate label for them. Sure, these kinds of cars are relatively new which makes it hard to even categorize what type of car they are, but that doesn't mean we should group them together with all the other supercars.

I absolutely love how this car is a hard top power convertible. So many other supercars use that ridiculous soft top that completely ruins the styling of the car when the roof is up.

I have a bad back, souvenir of a big car crash, and I had the chance to get a ride in a MP4... That car was wonderful! A real efficient suspension on smooth road surfaces but when we came on a cobble stone portion, it had the comfort of a limo!

The 650S is just a refreshed MP4.
At the time of the MP4 they did not have a clear line up of offerings, so you can remove the MP4 and the 650S from the equation.
The lineup starts with the Sport Series, 540 to 600LT
Then there's the Super Series, 720S
The P1, the Senna and the SpeedTail are Ultimate Series, limited and special.

I don't usually comment but Jesus Christ Doug, that naming complaint section was so cringy. Do you research before complaining. MP4/12C comes from the naming convention of McLaren's Formula 1 cars like the dominant MP4/4 in the Ayrton Senna days. Also they used P in P1 because in Formula 1, P1 means that you finished the race in first place. McLaren is a Formula 1 team first, and a car company second, which makes it logical to name cars like they do.

The P1 came out before the 650s. People liked the front end look of the P1 so much McLaren slapped a p1 front end onto the mp4-12c and called it a 650s. The LT is a throwback name from the F1 GTR Longtail.

You know what? I let two of those guys take a few pics inside a McLaren F1 during Pebble Beach week and they had smiles from ear to ear. There is NOTHING wrong with passionately (and respectfully) going after your dreams...!
I like to think of most modern McLarens as different, modified versions of the same car, instead of different models. The 650s is my favorite though.

Great video and really enjoyed it. But note that ,,LT,, Stands for Long Tail which is a version used for F1 called ,,F1 LT,, because the rear-end of the car is a little bit longer.
And that circle button in the center console is not ''Pepsi Logo'' , it's actually the ,,McLaren Headquarter,, main building which is a cool detail.

It was, they modeled the 650 after it, but kept the tail from the MP4-12C. In the 675 LT, they switched it as the reviews for the 12C weren't the greatest. The 570S and GT used the same style language. Now we are on the 720S for the super series (formerly 12C and 650). Also, fun fact, the 650 and the MP4-12C are the exact same car with different body panels. The 12C sells for half the price...

Doug D. "P 1" is a reference to Position 1 that's how F 1 drivers/engineers/analysts/fans say they are in first place in the race or in qualifying. P 2 is second place and so on.
