Same as young people not being able to understand how you don't know the music of today. People listen to what's going on when they're young and usually stick with it for the rest of their lives.
Part of this movie was filmed in my high-school, and all throughout my home state of UT, this dance scene was filmed in the Lehi roller mills.
I live in Utah too, but was in AZ when the film was made. I didn't know for a long time that it was filmed in Utah. I'm in Pleasant Grove, so not far from Lehi. I've passed by the Lehi Roller Mills many times. Great song on a great album with other songs like "Danger Zone", "I'm Alright", "Pooh Corner" and others.
What was it like growing up without popular music?
Lehi roller mills were such a landmark. My grandpa lived in Lehi and always looked forward to seeing them and knowing we were close to seeing him.
Footloose is based on a true story about the small town of Elmore City, Oklahoma where it was forbidden to dance because of a not-forgotten ordinance from the late 1800’s that forbid dancing within the city limits. The Seniors of Elmore High School wanted a senior prom, and it 1979 the city council agreed to LET THEM DANCE! ❤️😀
@@valogden I remember my Grandparents lived close to the Heath plant in Illinois. I always knew we were close when I saw that candy bar on the side of the building.
Back in the '80's we danced in heels & didn't falter. It was awesome. Today at damn near 60, I can only look at heels. Aaaah the memories.
Yep, there were a pair of white strappy heels at the beginning. I had a pair in red. They were awesome. Still in my closet and I can only look at them now. Classics! 🤣

You have to watch The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. Kevin Bacon was a guest and he did a reenactment of the dance scene for the movies 35th anniversary. It was awesome.
I remember the little 8 years old me asking mama to buy me that Footloose movie on VHS. The year was 1992.

It's from this movie where a great hero, named Kevin Bacon, teaches an entire city full of people with sticks up their butts that, dancing, well, is the greatest thing there is.

@drag0nfly_girl kinda sad that a leader of that community can impose their beliefs, no matter how crazy and over the top, on any member of that community. Did you even see the movie? The community took what the preacher said too far... Book burning? Nice. The kids just wanted to have a dance, like every other school does. If that destroyed their Christian community, then it wasn't very strong anyway. BTW I am Christian... also dance.

I've seen Kenny in concert many times and you wanna seen a crowd jump to their feet and dance- "Footloose" is that song. No offense to Blake Shelton, but certain things should be left alone. Never remake a perfect song because it'll never measure up.

Did you just say you put your “British Clarks” on? It has blown my mind that you can get Clarks shoes in the US if that’s the case. I grew up with those shoes, all my school shoes were Clarks.
Those were all we were allowed to wear ,one pair for outside , one pair for outside ,home made shoe bag ,only could afford one new pair a year ( and here’s me thinking Clark’s were uncool ! What do I know!
yeah haha they have clarks store here and you can also order them online. When I was in high school in Jamaica Clarks were all the rage because a huge artist here made songs about it so everyone wanted one.

My Mum would only ever let me wear Clarks shoes or Doodles when I was so young!!! They were expensive but lasted me the whole academic year (provided my feet didn’t grow 😂).
