    That they would do it again is extraordinary. These remarkable souls were born with the right stuff. They should be honored for saving the Arctic for the world, not imprisoned.
    Ever in mind,

    In a world where the corporation is this powerful, independent organisations like Greenpeace are essential to restore some balance. And boy is there an awful lot of balance to be restored.

    If the governments of the imprisoned activists do nothing, then it is time to agitate for the Russian winter Olympic games to be boycotted.

      The homophobic Olympics you mean? Put pressure on the sponsors! Coca Cola etc. We need to get down on them like bricks for two reasons now! No, three! To release the 2 Pussy Riot women as well, Nadeska is missing at the moment being transported to Siberia for protesting and hungerstriking against terrible conditions in prisons.

      They ARE peaceful activists standing up against ongoing ecocide in pristine areas on this Earth! They have done nothing wrong, we have the right to express our opinions when big industries are threatening ecosystems worldwide!

    • @roberterkelens3735

      A boycott of the Olympic games never works. Russia will win more gold medals and that will only be used by Poetin do show the Russian people how good he is for Russia. News in Russia is manipulated (not only in Russia).
      And most important: if a government is deciding to boycott the games, there are no better then the Russian Government, then they use the athletes for politics.
      The only message that understood everywhere in the world: money.
      If you want to do something around Olympic Games, you need to boycott sponsors. (i am not convinced it will directly help)
      Just buy Pepsi for a week/month, so Coca Cola will see their sales drop dramatically.

    I actually have respect for these people. They stood up for what they believed in, fought for a good cause, they were brave enough to do what they did knowing the danger, and they did not hurt anybody or commit a big crime. When I watch this video, I think about the people who fought for equality for the African Americans during the 1950's.

    You do the crime, you do the time.

      Organisations as Greenpeace need publicity, not just for funding, but publicity will make more people aware of bad situations.
      (i don't believe Greenpeace makes the changes, but the public opinion, which is feed by the publicity around the actions of Greenpeace, is making the real changes)
      I do hope and expect a soon release of the Artic30.
      Personally i expect surprising and positive developments on the day(s) before the 22nd of November.
      And in a strange way we should be thankful to the Russian Government by their stupid actions, it will make Greenpeace stronger in every way.

    #Aquariel Charm Attacking the oil rig of Russia is indeed an extraordinary act from Greenpeace, since they knew very well that Greenpeace captain Kuiken had been sentenced in 1993 by Norway for a similar action, entering the 500 meter safety zone, endangering the safety of the oil rig workers. Saving the Arc, everybody wants. Greenpeace tried to achieve this goal by illegal means, climbing on the rig, with the purpose of occupying the rig as long as possible, rammimg the coast guard dingies, neglecting the orders of the coast guard, trying to prevent the coast guard from boarding the arctic Sunrise.

    It is horrible to hear and read the story of those imprisoned Greenpeace activists, after only 2 months jail, and knowing their future is probably at least 5 to 20 years workcamp.prison in Siberia. Pussy Riot got 2 years workcamp for only singing. The letter that Greenpeace designed to bring the activists home is extremely arrogant and teaching the Russians. That letter will certainly not bring the activists home sooner. On the contrary.

    • @roberterkelens3735
      @roberterkelens3735 11 лет назад

      Sorry, but the action of Pussy Riot is not just singing!! But their punishment is to much/hard for the crime they committed.
      I disagree with your opinion about Greenpeace's letter, but the letter is not 100% correct, it contains some errors and should be updated.

    • @vrederik7
      @vrederik7 11 лет назад

      Robert Erkelens The letter is arrogant, Greenpeace assumes too much authority for themselves. The letter dictates Russia instead of asking. It reads that the Russians broke sealaw in international waters, while in fact Greenpeace broke the law by entering the safety zone of 500 meters around the platform in the Russian economic zone. The letter only mentions hooliganism, and "forgets" piracy. The letter says that the indictment hooliganism is an exaggeration. GP better starts with first excusing. Don't misunderstand me. In my heart I am a Greenpeacer, but I do not like agression, or feeling superior to Russians. That is an Ubermensch attitude, which was basis for Unternehmen Barbarossa.

    • @roberterkelens3735
      @roberterkelens3735 11 лет назад

      vrederik7
      Actualy they forget to mention piracy once, but some futher it is mentioned. Hooliganism is mentioned twice and piracy is mentioned once. That is one of the errors i was referring to in my previous comment. The other: Moermansk is stil mentioned as the location of inprissonment, while the crew is in St Peterburg for 5 days.
      The rest of your comment shows, you do not know the actual facts and the laws.
      1) 6-8 crew members entered the safety zone of 500 meters our the platform, not the rest of the crew
      2) economic zones are international water = international maritime laws
      3) only piracy could be a reason to capture and arrest in international waters, but the Russian State will be unable to proof piracy, all lawyers on international maritime laws in the world agree on that, therefor the arrest is illegal
      4) the Russian government did NOT have permission from the Dutch government to board, to capture and to tow the ship.
