It's a pretty cool rom hack, and it's very impressive to see Sonic move so fast on (emulated) Genesis hardware. However it's very trial and error'ey. There's no realistic way to react to obstacles when you are moving that fast so the only way to do it is trial/error/memorization.
Sorry Rise of Lyric. Sonic BOOM was already taken.

I´d gladly pay for a full Sonic game like this... Animations and physics look top notch, and feel really Sonic. The idea of having a ring-cost to perform unique moves is also really cool. It reminds me of how rings were literally used to power Sonic up in SatAm.

They could have sold this 5 minute ROM hack in stores and it would probably be more well-received than Rise of Lyric. It seems like a good game, but also abysmally short. Granted, it looks like a demo.
Agreed. The third act alone sells it for me. We don't see many intense Sonic chase scenes in 2D.
This is the most amazing Sonic hack I've seen thus far. Love those bosses, completely unforgiving.

I just played this earlier today. What took you a little over 7 minutes to do took me a little over an hour. I love it though. The frenzied panic that third act gives you can actually make you sweat.

Holy shit that was epic. Definitely a promising look at the future of Sonic hacking! I laughed a bit when I saw the door and rotating platform included in the "cast of characters". I disagree with the idea that the level design was "meh", but there is always room for improvement IMO.

I played this on my Sega Mega Drive on the Everdrive cartridge. This hack is so awesome.
The best hack of Sonic so far. Good graphics, very hard difficult, good sound, good animation ... and bosses are great.
This game still has the best speed and best stage tracks for a sonic game. Sonic moves helps keeping the steps.

Still, great playthrough though. I have been playing this for about a month and it's only recently that I have started to not resort to savestates to assist me. I probably will never play as well as you, though - I'm more of an explorer-type Sonic player.
oh, you're serious? well, i could be able to do that, but would it require text, or just images that link locations? (like sonic getting shot out of a cannon to the next stage)

This is perhaps one of the most advanced Sonic 2 hack with really gorgeous soundfonts from different games, mainy Mega Man X games.

But when you watch as many TASes as I do, you can't help but to notice things like high efficiency.
I even had other TAS buddies think the non-boss parts = TAS, just from the overall efficiency of play, you know.
It does make sense know that I know how long he's been play testing.
It's just that you know how entertainment sections on TASes are.
And what I saw in that video just screamed "Entertainment TAS!"
If you notice, Sonic's rings decrease as time goes on so maybe Sonic is in super Sonic mode?
I see Sonic's been playing fan games again....
