    After a long journey from the west coast, Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad’s “New-Used” MLW FPA-4s have finally arrived and are ready to be delivered. In this video, I’ll take you along with me to see the interchange process, as well as other operations in the area. Featuring the Cleveland Works Railway, and NS 6333 with its one of a kind Nathan K5LLE horn!
    The second half of the video will focus on the new Positive Train Control (PTC) Installation along the Cleveland Subdivision around Parma. The classic Baltimore & Ohio Color Position Light signal and the accompanying Conrail Trilight (G Type) signals are soon to fall due to this installation. Watch as Maintenance Of Way crews hoist a relay case up into the air, and load it onto a truck!

    I got a cab ride in a CN FPA4 from Walkerville to Toronto , Ontario in about " 76 , we had a rolling meet outside London and it was sheer joy to experience . Both trains at track speed , snow flying and time for just one frame ..... It is probably my favorite cab ride EVER !! ALCO's RULE. Ok , MILW's .

    Nice to see that those FPA4s are being preserved. I remember watching them pull VIA passenger trains in the 1980s. Nothing like a set in A-B-A formation pulling hard on a long passenger train, with black smoke at the stack and the ALCo designed prime movers giving their all to get to the 79 mph track speed.

    I have not seen a FPB-4 in ages. I recall them on CN and CPR/CP rail and VIA Rail. Wow.

    I grew up just east of State Road (RT 94) west of Broadview rd. and just north of the east west main of what is now CSX ( formerly NYC, formerly Big 4) in the 1950's and 60's. I played on and around those tracks as a kid.
    I haven't lived in Cleveland for 46 years now, and don't remember much of where you filmed (Parma Yard) In my day that would have been C&O trackage.
    Thanks for some great shots. I wonder, was the ethanol train on that east west line? I was a bit surprised by a dear being in that area.

    I guess that's still good (PTC) if it's placed on that sector (It means the customers expect to remain dependent on rail)... but I'm confused. I thought PTC was used on main lines (Class-1) only? Some of those rails, I walked from point A to point B, when I was younger and more foolish (and gogglemaps wasn't much a thing yet)...

    • @northernohiorailfanningpro8899
      @northernohiorailfanningpro8899  Месяц назад +2

      PTC is used on Class 1 mainlines yes. But recently a lot of Class 1s have been equipping some of their smaller lines with PTC if they see it fitting and worth it. In the example of the video, CSX has been installing PTC on their Cleveland Subdivision because they suspect an increase in traffic levels for Clark Avenue Yard. While it is not a mainline, it still is a branch line with a lot of potential.

    • @Messicrafter
      @Messicrafter Месяц назад

      @tehpw7574 PTC can, and will when needed, be put in on smaller Subdivisions, as it is required for certain commodities like Chlorine. There is several sections of "Mainline track" on CSX without PTC, some examples are the Big Sandy, Kingsport, Blue Ridge, and Charlotte Subs, which are all active "mainlines" but primarily run coal and mixed freight, but don't deal with PIH/TIH commodities like Chlorine.

      @@B83024 Thank you for the kind words! Most recently Norfolk Southern has been leaving Campbell yard around 10am, with CSX getting there around 11. When NS returns and when CSX leaves is all dependent on how much work the train has on a given day. Hope this helps.
