Lately TFL has been doing a lot of Clickbaiting for views and comments. The now classic, "Driving impressions are embargoed, checkbook next week when we can actually tell you something." Then we have this type of vaporware comparison where not all competitors are present or woefully mismatched. Recently Ford fuelgate with no official numbers, just a rehashed A and B roll voiceover of a prior vid. And of course comment baiting (comment volume is also a RUclips $ metric) x brand vs. y brand, knowing full well the recipe to get the loyalist fanboys to bitch at one another.
I guess it is a business, a business with what now, seven mouths to feed plus other expenses? We always have the option to just not watch. But it kinda sucks, because I do like some of their content.

If the BMW N63 V8 which is notorious for heat soak and cooling issues doesn't blow head gaskets I doubt these will blow anything. I still wouldn't buy one though lol. If I had to have something reliable it would be a N/A option for gas and if I wanted a diesel it would be an older 5.9 Cummins in a Dodge Ram or an old Ford 7.3 Powerstroke. Heck, I'd buy an old Ford with a blown 7.3 and rebuild it versus ever getting myself into a new one because of all of that emissions nonsense.

The other engine that would be nice to see is an 3.5L I6 EcoBoost based on the 2.3L I4. Mercedes is moving back to I6 motors with turbos due to manufacturing economies of scale due to all the I4 production in their lineup. This might be the future for Ford too.

Any V8 twin turbo would be a gas guzzler; defeats the point of downsizing and turbo charging. Yes a 3.6L V8 is downsized, but not enough to save fuel on a 5.0 or even a 6.2. Turbo actually makes for more fuel consumption, so the displacement and cylinder drop has to be significant. Turbo V8s do not fit any strategy except for racing

I'm in for I6. My 2.7L V6 has virtually no engine braking. V6s just rev too freely and smoothly. A 3.0 I6 GTDI with 400 ft- lb would fit and ideal for a half ton. FCA is rumored to be bringing that exact size and arrangement to replace Penstar. They are claiming Hemi power, which I think would be tuned too much for that size. About 320- 335 hp would be just right. Right about where Ford's 2.7L V6 is should be their target but with a slightly larger inline. Perfect!

Absolutely wrong. It's the opposite. One can buy a stripped work truck F150 RCSB with no options but add only the 2.7L mated to the 10 speed (Chevy no longer even offers a RCSB). Including destination, the price is under $30K. Ford allows this option from that very lowest priced truck, all the way up through XLT for $1K extra over the base power train. Then at Lariat, it's standard.
Chevy turbo is available only as a standard engine in LT and RST. Starts just under $39K. Can't even option it above or below those trims.
Ford turbo can be had cheaper and in many, many more configuration and trim choices, even if Ford doesn't lie and call it a base engine. No contest.

GM is 4 years late and 2 cylinders short, and ends up with an engine that is 15 Hp and 60 ft*lbs behind the competition. Why didn't they just add 2 cylinders to the LTG 4 cylinder? Then they would have at least 390 Hp, 450 ft*lbs.

Why you would buy it over a 5.3 V8 is beyond me, but the fact that they made it available will only help they're nonsense EPA Cafe standards and that's probably the only reason it really exist anyway. I'm also sure this motor will eventually replace the 4.3 V6 in use now, so even in a work truck you'll hardly see them.

😂😂😂. I love how the 2015 f150 was still faster than the Silverado! As a ford family ( 2017 f350 platinum and a 2018 expedition max limited) this makes me laugh so hard. Put it up against a 2019 f150 and do new video. It should NEVER take 8 runs to even try and “come close” to beating a 4 YEAR old truck! In the future match the 2019’s, unless you are scared of the results.

So, 5 yrs later, alot has changed. GM 2.7 turbomax I-4 produces 310 horse & 430 ft lbs of torque compared to Ford 2.7 twin turbo V-6 produces 325 horse & 400 ft lbs of torque. With such close engine output numbers, "quicker" is all about transmission & differential gearing being closely comparative. When you get those 2 trucks together, do a real comparison, do towing also. May as well get a Ram w/ 3.0 hurricane I-6 also.

Do you guys even understand how turbos work? Having the 10 speed transmission and turbos make hauling my travel trailer a dream. Semi trucks use turbo and 10-18 speed transmissions for a reason. I also own 11 freightliner trucks and a trucking company. I suggest you guys do some research before you open your bias mouths about a turbo charged engine.Basically the common principles of their operation are the same as well as the way in which they intake air and exhaust gases, regardless if you are adding a turbo to a petrol or a diesel engine.

The power output is acceptable as most normal ppl wouldn't use 70hp on their intown 30 mph 15 min commute to work. I expect the intown milage to be better than any other truck other than a diesel.
