A few things to note for the Monsterverse going forward: 1. The red-haired ape's official name is Suko. Not sure why they didn't include it in the movie itself, but that's the name he's been given by the director and his crew. 2. Kong's arc has wrapped up here. According to Wingard, the director of both GvK and GxK, he's done with Kong's story for now. He intends the next movie to focus more on Godzilla and giving him the same treatment he gave Kong in the last two movies, meaning fleshing out his character more and expanding on his lore. 3. This comes from the book, but apparently Kong thought he and Godzilla were cool after GvK, but Godzilla, not so much. And also, it's said that both Godzilla and Kong sensed a common bond between each other and Mothra after her interference.

@@jfjvmdvbdcndkj It's funny that you see Kong on Skull Island, and he's not that much bigger than the trees, and you see him in this, and he's literally stepping on them while Suko is still having to work his way through them. I also love the fact that Kong has actually aged during the series, it's been like 70-80 years since he was on SI, and he's clearly in that silver gorilla stage.

Even though Godzilla keeps humanity safe from hostile Titans and won't directly attack humans, he still pretty much does as he pleases without regard for their feelings or safety.

Godzilla: Dominion is a comic for this series that is entirely from his point of view and shows he _can_ think that way, he just doesn't really care.
I like the running fan theory that the Roman Colosseum reminds Godzilla of his home that was nuked in King of the Monsters. Which is why he lives there now
It's not a theory, it was the film's novelization itself that confirmed this.

He actually is KING Kong now. And when Godzilla blasted his atomic breath up into the sky at the end, he was unfreezing what part of Rio De Janeiro that Shimo had already frozen. I love how once Shimo was free, she looked at Godzilla almost like asking permission to freeze Scar King and he commanded her to do it. I love how Godzilla understood what needed to happen so clearly. Just run interference on Shimo for Kong and let Kong have Scar King. If there's going to be a sizable ape population, Godzilla knows Kong is the one who needs to rule. And to do that most effectively, he needed to be the one to kill Scar King and establish his dominance over him in a dramatic way. I love this movie. Just pure badass fun with gorgeous visuals. Sure it's not Minus One but there's room for both flavors. And once Shimo was freed she was actually adorable. Just look at that face she makes watching Godzilla's magenta atomic breath light up the sky..
He is not called King Kong in these movies! Universal owns the rights to the name King Kong. Unless they buy the rights or license it from Universal, he will never be called King Kong in the Monsterverse!

Skar King is such a sick villain. His first confrontation with Kong is so good. He's actually a bit smaller than Kong but he is not scared of him at all. He straight up points and laughs at him in his face
They're already working on the next Monsterverse installment, it's being written by Dave Callaham who helped on Across the Spiderverse, wrote Shang Chi along with the original script for Godzilla 2014

MonsterVerse Godzilla doesn’t really protect us humans, he doesn’t care about us, he just protects the earth and nature, fortunately, that’s in our favour.
That's why Godzilla is a protector of nature. But Kong, Mothra and Gamera are protectors of humanity.

Top 10 moments before disaster
Fun fact: Tiamat(the dragon snake titan in the artic) and Scylla(the giant squid crab titan that Godzilla founght in the beginning of the film) had appeared before in the prequel comics of the movies called Godzilla Dominion (a prequel comic to Godzilla vs Kong) and Godzilla X Kong the Hunted(the prequel comic to This movie).
They also appeared in King of the Monsters, but Tiamat only appeared as a name on a tablet.

It’s not that godzilla is a good guy and he’s protecting us. He just wakes up whenever he senses a threat on his territory (Earth) just like any normal animal. He doesn’t go after humans because we’re basically insignificant to him, he doesn’t see them as a threat to his territory. If humans ever did become a threat to him he would take them out no hesitation (as you saw when he was powering up)
That's not true, he's not just "a normal animal."
Godzilla, like Kong, is a Sapient being (as you wouldn't be able to reason with an animal attacking you, like Mothra was able to with Godzilla).
Godzilla just _really_ hates The Apes. And, if you look closely at how Godzilla handles himself, he's been slowly getting more and more annoyed with Humanity.
@@VelociraptorsOfSkyrim i never said he’s a normal animal, i said he’s like one. as in he does things that normal animals would do. like protect their territory, fight off other “animals” that he senses as a threat on his territory, etc. And yea godzilla does get annoyed at humans but he never feels it’s a necessity to outright eliminate all of us (well not yet). because we don’t threaten him. It’s like humans with mosquitoes, we only really kill them when they land on us but we don’t make it a mission to kill every mosquito we see on sight.

@@VelociraptorsOfSkyrim the distinction is that godzilla acts more like a normal animal than kong does. kong does protect his territory but he also has the ability to reason and communicate, just like humans. A good example of this is when kong went up to earth to call on godzilla for help. He was trying to show godzilla that he wasn’t there to fight him but all godzilla saw and heard was another threat to his territory. he needed jia to telepathically tell him that they needed his help.

The reason kongs gauntlet is conveniently the arm he has frostbite on is because kong is right handed. He put his dominant hand closest to the blade of the ax to stop shimos blast and the ice caught his arm

When it comes to scale, especially hollow earth because its a place that exclusively houses titans and mega fauna, we are seeing everything through kongs perspective, like how a fly sees us as slow yet we dont see ourselves that way

I think it’s funny that a main plot point is that Kong has a toothache, which is how we’re introduced to Trapper and how the characters get to hollow earth.

There were soooo many fun little throwbacks to the original films! The combo attack where Scar King got tossed to Godzilla and he bumps him back with his tail. Mothra trying to get Godzilla to realize that Kong wasn’t the enemy. I feel like Jia takes the place of the original “twins” who always called Mothra to help with their song. (I feel like it would be amazing if we found out that she HAS a twin!) I’m really going to need a Mothra focused film where we get to see her more in her larva state Mothra is more powerful, I feel, than what we’ve seen in these newer films so far. ❤ Still - I loved this movie!

Godzilla x Kong was superb this film place Godzilla and Kong back on the map this movie show off Godzilla and Kong true fighting skills you wont see these titans dying from a simple plane to the mouth like you seen in Godzilla Minus One film
This movie was quite different than the last Godzilla vs Kong. What stood out to me the most was the non dialogue scenes when the Titans where all you have to do is read the body language with the titans. Kong scenes fighting Scar King in Hollow Earch was such a stand out scene. No human dialogue just straight monster scene. The movie creatures need to do more expanded scenes like this. It was the best parts of the movie.

I think he is so cute, but I guess he was raised with no love so hard to be good without an example. But, Kong is a good soul and in the end when they were atanding on that ledge and roaring happily, Suko was so excited and his facial expressions were hysterical. Cool thing is finally Dear Kong, is not alone now. He showed his kind character with the other Apes and now he gets to live with his kind and show them a leader who is good and kind unlike Skar. I would think the need a follow up film to see what happens next! I WANT MORE! LOL! I only saw you'r preview, IS Suko Skar Kings Son? UGH! Gotta rent this movie. A lot of what Gia's adopted Mom was cut out about the history of what happened and Skar. Thanks for the funny review! Again, you'r reactions/comments had me rolling. Take care and thanks again!

GXK did so well that they're already a new one!! I'm already hyped. I'm guessing 2027. I know this is going to be a Godzilla centered story instead of Kong this time, and the plot is going to be heavily influenced by Godzilla vs. Destoroyah, so I don't know if Destoroyah is going to be the next villain, but I hope not because he should be saved for last. Spacegodzilla makes a lot more sense right now due to him being teased for years now, and it'll work, and that's who I want to see right now. The writer for GXK 3 wrote Shang-Chi, co-wrote Across the Spider-Verse, and co-wrote Godzilla (2014), so I don't know if this will be a serious sequel or be goofy still. I hope it takes itself more seriously, but the goofiness can stay. I won't have a problem with that at all. Adam needs to come back.

I’m so proud of the fact that this film was shot only a couple of hours drive away from my own home. I’ve lived in Far North Queensland for 10 years and instantly recognised the Daintree Rainforest when I saw it in the film for Hollow Earth

I loved this movie. I saw it in IMAX with my gf and we had a blast watching it. And it was her first Monsterverse film in theaters so that was sweet.
