    Things about this movie.
    Big props to how the movie actually made a clear winner.
    Most movies would’ve (as you said) halted their big climactic battle with a different big bad, forcing them to work together to defeat them. But no, they actually made a clear winner, with them literally saying Kong was going to die as a result were it not for them jumpstarting his heart.
    The axe Kong used is actually a Godzilla species dorsal plate
    Godzilla was actually exhausted while he was fighting MechaGodzilla, both from his fight with Kong and his “using his atomic breath to make a hole all the way to the center of the earth from (Hong Kong if I am recalling correctly?) where he was without pausing once, which immediately led into the battle with Kong afterwards”. It’s the main reason he lost the beam clash with MechaGodzilla, and if he hadn’t been exhausted from before, he might’ve actually beaten MechaGodzilla by himself.
    Overall, the movie was awesome

    • @ElderDarkWolfoftheNorth
      @ElderDarkWolfoftheNorth 2 года назад +26

      Yea I’m really happy that it wasn’t a draw or they just stopped fighting mid battle. Godzilla put Kong in his place and it still felt natural for the story, which most “Character VS Character” movies fail to do.

    • @Nyx_2142

      I also noticed that Godzilla never really aim to fight Kong, in their first encounter the Humans attacked Godzilla first wich made him attack them with Kong on the Ship and Godzilla creating that hole was not to fight Kong, how should he know about Kongs location, id say he felt the Power of another Godzilla when Kong place the Axe and created the hole as Backup against Mecha Godzilla/ Gidorah. From the Start Godzilla behaved different according to the Movie, by attacking certain People, mostly the people behind King Gidorah. He didnt even pay attention to Kong crawling out of the Hole and keeped walking towards Gidorah.

    Godzilla is 393 feet and Kong is 337 feet. Kong is obviously an adult now and grew more. Also fun fact confirmed by the director Adam Wingard himself, Godzilla never took Kong as a serious threat he was only toying with him in rounds 1 and 2. It’s only after Kong dropped the ax on him is when Godzilla said enough is enough and actually went berserk on Kong and when that happened it was quite clear that Kong never stood a chance.

      sort of like seeing a random dude taunt you with your death relatives' body part.
      don't know about you but I would take it seriously right there.
      in the second round he was trying but he kept spamming the breath thinking he would win
      when Kong smashed the axe, he knew his strongest weapon was being turned against him and won
      the laughing scene doesn't count since he also laughed at Ghidorah a bit, does that mean he was toying with him? no.
      in the first round he was playing with Kong.

    Something I love about this movie is how it intentionally plays with the viewers perception. Everything in the film suggests Godzilla is the villain and in the end it turns out he was the only one that actually knew what the bigger picture was; kong spent the majority of the film actually aiding the villians and is directly responsible for MechaGodzilla becoming a threat to begin with.

      yaah. Kong fans says Kong saved Godzilla but in reallity, there is no other way otherthan saving Godzilla. Because even Kong with his full strength can also not be able to defeat Mecha and Only Godzilla can beat Mechagodzilla in the entire world. Even at the end, his atomic breath is the one which made the difference. to put things in simple manner, if Kong dies there, world can be still saved bcz there is Godzilla.... but if Godzilla dies, Its over for them.

  • @clasher138
    @clasher138 2 года назад +93

    So I was team Godzilla because he was always doing the right thing in the last two movies. Also Serezawa believed in him to the very end. Although destroying a bridge was kind of a dick move. But his interest is in stopping the greatest threat to him and his kingdom. Also Godzilla is a good king as well. In one comic in the monsterverse he is patrolling the world and checked up on the giant mammoths (Behemoth's) territory. However Behemoth was being attacked by another ugly viney titan that wanted his territory. Godzilla was just observing at first but then he observed his surroundings. He took notice of how Behemoth's presence had restored much of a rainforest and that the humans were even building Behemoth a home. So Godzilla realized it was best to keep Behemoth around. He intervened, saved Behemoth's life, and scared off the other titan back into the ocean. While I love Kong, Godzilla is just the best fit to rule the earth as the alpha titan. People call Godzilla a dumb lizard in comparison to Kong but Godzilla is a lot smarter than people give him credit for. Also the reason he went after parts of Mechagodzilla so fiercely is because it gave off the same signature as Ghidorah which is his sworn enemy. And when the energy source was given to mechagodzilla it was so powerful that it awakened Ghidora's mind. So it easily overwhelmed the pilot
    Also they kind of screwed up with the trailers. In the first shot of the first trailer if you look closely you can see mechagodzilla in the smoke.

    Glad to see you're also giving 'Shin' a try. This franchise is all over the place in terms of tone and quality, but so much of it is pure gold, and I'm glad you were able to give it a try. But honestly, dude, I'd recommend you check out some of the older Godzilla movies too. Now, there's a LOT of them, and I'll be frank, some of them are total garbage (there's a few that even die-hard fans won't defend), but some of them are genuinely great.
    Personally, I'd highly recommend 'Godzilla Vs King Ghidorah' from 1991, 'Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla' from 2002 and of course, the original 'Godzilla' from 1954. Yes, the monsters are people in rubber costumes stomping around model cities, and yes, sometimes it's very obvious that's the case... but man, where else will you see guys in monster costumes knocking lumps out of each other like that? It's an absolute blast of a franchise.

Kong may be closest to human a titan can get, but "Kong bows to no one," gives me the sense that Kong will only do things for himself. He wouldn't be going around fighting titans to keep balance like Godzilla; just the vibe I got.

    Warner Bros. got a lot of understandable flak, and suffered big consequences with the day-and-date release strategy, but Godzilla vs. Kong not only gave the MonsterVerse hope after King of the Monsters flopped, but it arguably helped in cementing the 2021 release slate and gave hope to the theater owners that audiences will return to the big screens.

    The reason they put an enclosure around Kong is because the large storm created by Ghidorah in King of the Monsters came over to Skull Island. Plus several titans awoke on Skull Island when Ghidorah did its Alpha Call

    This was the first movie I went to see in theaters once theaters had reopened, and it was a blast. The makers of this movie finally got what makes kaiju flicks so enjoyable and they leaned into it so well. Basically, screw the logic and science, we're not slowing this advanced hover vehicle down! Just strap in, hold on and enjoy. Such a good time at the movies and one heck of an achievement for the Monsterverse. Hell, apparently so good that they're gearing up for a rematch. Not even going to bother with What or How, just Yes please! More of this in our faces, just like Kong downing that lime flavored monster Gatorade in the hollow earth.

    (At 7:31) Gorillas are herbivores and insectivores. So that kinda makes them omnivorous?
    To me Kong is not normal gorilla, because "normal" gorillas have a lot of weight on their shoulders and arms they can't walk upright, much less sprint.

    Most people thought Godzilla went bad for some reason but that isn’t the case, Godzilla only went crazy because he sense Ghidorah leftover in Apex’s facility and Kong went out of Skull Island then he sensed Kong again when he activated the Hollow Earth’s power source so Godzilla was literally misunderstood in this movie

    “I’m really surprised by how fast they can move” yeah. A lot of the times in sequels they try and make the action more intense by having more happen in a shorter (seen as well in pacific rim: uprising) but I think it just loses the scale because they don’t seem as big when they move so fast
