Iv'e bought several Old Wheel Hoe's,some with a lot of Attachments At Sales/Auctions.They all work well.Their Good for Gardening, simple and easy to use.THE BEST ONE, I BOUGHT IT FOR A DOLLAR AT A AUCTION.IT HAD ALL OF IT'S ATTACHMENTS,SOME STILL IN THEIR BOXES IN OIL WRAP PAPER WITH INSTRUCTION MANUAL.IT WAS A LATE 50'S PRODUCTION.I USE IT,WORKS GOOD!!! I HAVE THEM ALL SET UP WITH DIFFERENT ATTACHMENTS.I JUST GRAB THE ONE THAT I WANT TO USE.
Got my HOSS Double Wheel Hoe yesterday. What a tool! I'm way old and this is way easy for me to use! Why didn't I buy this thing years ago?? Thanks for the video, Alan.
Used the cultivator plows first. A bit hard on a weak 71 yo man, but they do a good job after all the rain has softened up our garden. Looking forward to mounting and using the sweeps today. Thanks again for the video, Alan.
I just purchased one of these a couple weeks ago to install my tape irrigation. I love ❤️ how easy it makes everything. Sorry I did not see this video sooner or I would have used your link.
I would get the Double or the Single . The High Arch is limited when it comes to cultivating (and adding other attachments) You could get the Single and convert to Double down the road if you wanted to. The conversion is cheap Here's my Hoss Associate Link: bit.ly/homesteadadvisor I'd appreciate it if you could use it when ordering anything from them
How do you think it would it do on Bermuda grass that I let grow back in a tilled area? I tilled it up before planting my corn but it rained so much for so long and now the grass is all grown back and about 3-4" long and thick. Just wondering how practical it would be to use for that?
Actually, the sweeps are the perfect tool for cutting through Bermuda grass. All the other tools, like the cultivators, would just clog up with grass, I think. The sweeps cut it off below the surface and should do a pretty good job. If you want to try them, I would appreciate it if you would use my associate link below the video. Thanks.
Sure, but sometimes they can get away with you and you wind up running through your veggies. Trust me... I used to have a TB Horse. With this, first of all there's no noise or gasoline. And, you can get closer to the plants because you set the pace, not the machine. I like it better than a tiller... but some may not.
Probably. I have hard clay soil, but amended it till I got really pliable soil now. Here's how I did it: ruclips.net/p/PLutBw50GI1zzFzOmlcsVZZUOoz5rCRNnb
I like the winged sweeps. If there are a lot of weeds they work well. Easy to push through the ground. Also the Oscillating Hoes work well, but maybe not as good as the sweeps if the weeds are heavy. Here's my HOSS TOOLS Associate link: bit.ly/homesteadadvisor Thanks, alan
It's amazing. So easy to keep a garden weed free. I know you won't be disappointed. I like the sweeps best, but the Stirrup Hoe does well in tough weeds too. I would suggest the Single or the Double Wheel Hoe, not the High Arch. Here's my Link to Hoss Tools: bit.ly/homesteadadvisor
It would be a little harder. Like any cultivator, the pliability of the soil has a lot to do with ease of operation. My soil was hard red clay, but I transformed it into what it is now by doing this: ruclips.net/video/vBzrxvVI9o0/видео.html
Not sure if they offer discounts or not. You could always start with a Single Wheel hoe and convert it to a Double Wheel Hoe later. This is a High ARCH. It's pretty pricey. I don't really see any reason to get the High Arch. The Double or Single will do just about everything this one will do. Check out the different models and their prices HERE: bit.ly/2IeemYo
Great video and demonstration...new to your channel and also in Texas! Headed to E. Texas to build my homestead. Curious on the pros and cons and things you would do different if any with regards to the Back to Eden gardening.
BTE is great for making bad soil into beautiful soil. I'm not sold on doing BTE for ALL my gardening, but it really worked to transform my hard red clay soil. Where in ETX are you moving?
@@BIGALTX Upshur County and I live in Dallas. I plan on spending the next few years on the weekend developing the land. It is 95% wooded and will take some time to build my idea of a good homestead. I plan on youtubing the whole thing.
Nope. What you are seeing is the remnants of mulch. A few years ago, I put down a thick layer of wood chips to change my hard clay soil into this nice dark rich soil that I have here. Still got a few pieces of bark and sticks and such. But no rocks… Or at least not very many.

Being a prepper, using man power is good, but I have found Ruth Stout method is the best & all the new comers are hang on her shirt tail, & doing a poor job of it.
I followed Ruth Stout for several years, and yes, it's a great way to garden. I prefer wood chips to hay or straw, but I have used both... even piles of leaves too! 😎

You're mistaken. It's not the first time I've used it. As I said in the video... "I've enjoyed it using it so much, that I had to force myself to leave some weeds so I could make this video"... Hence... I've used it successfully before. Even if I hadn't, it's pretty simple. Not brain surgery.
I bought the single wheel with cultivator attachment a little while back. I love the workmanship of the tool and will be branching out to get the sweeps. The important thing to know with this tool is that you have to be proactive and can't wait until the weeds have taken deep root to use it. I run it up and down my walking rows a couple times a week and it works great. Thanks for the video TexasPrepper2.

Just asking: wouldn’t a Troy Bilt tiller set at a cultivating depth do the same thing?
Sure, but sometimes they can get away with you and you wind up running through your veggies.

With this, first of all there's no noise or gasoline.

I wonder how that will work in hard Georgia clay?
Yes, but it's a little harder to push for sure. And, you'll have to KEEP it cultivated so it doesn't get too hard
In and around Valdosta it works very well
