I’ve had a hoss double wheel and the stand alone seeder for 2 years and LOVE IT! They also have a GREAT RUclips CHANNEL!! Awesome company ❤️❤️ Excited to see more videos with their products!
Thanks J. I was so impressed with your first video of the Earthway. 5years and still strong is awesome but Hogg looks sweet...Love the product reviews.
Hi! Cog Hill! Well ok so I'm 3 years behind, but got a great education from Part 1 & Part 2(I watched Part2 first, yes I'm a little backwards). My 3 siblings were born on the farm. I was a hospital baby. My parents tore down the old house and rebuilt it more In the city. Dad had a good sized garden that I helped with growing up but nothing like the farm. I ended up with the Plow! And the Corn planters. My plow has just about rusted through. It's a yard ornament now. I have used it many times in my 60+ years, no clue how long it's been in the family. Seeing You using one in these "modern times" made me smile and have memories I hadn't had in a Long time! Just had to comment! Thanks Jason! Congrats to You and your family on the move to the New Cog Hill! It's Because of I'm a Survivor that I have been watching your page and enjoying your Adventure!
Passer by here who seen your comment...im surprised at the price of these tools...and it appears im not the only one unable to justify the price...when we can have the kids do the job for free..with supervision.. Hahaha..fun video....happy gardening friend...
I put cedar wood chips into my garden before I plant, and I mix them up with the dirt, and it helps quite a bit to keep away bugs AND weeds. there's just something about the smell of the cedar, something in that that keeps weeds down and bugs away(at least the crawling ones).
I just found your site and this video. I must say that I was leaning towards buying the earthway until today. Hoss will get my business. Thanks for the video.
Love that hat, would love one! Not sure about the plow as we may have raised beds. Hoss does have a picker bag(basket) that goes over your shoulder that I do want! Great demonstration on the two plows, thanks😊☘️💚
Really useful and well done video Jason! I'm glad you got a cool new toy for yourself. Myself, I use a wire weeder from Twobadcats, which only works when the weeds are tiny. So, I weed 2-3x/week. But if I ever get a big, more traditional garden, I will get me a Hoss.
I think it was about a week ago I saw your vid with the earthway. I had just seen the Hoss stuff on you tube and I was thinking "man I wonder if Jason has seen these?" That's really cool that they sent you one. The Hoss stuff looks like it is top quality. Maybe they will send you some of the other stuff too! LOL! My garden is already in this year and it's a little small to use one of those but I could have a really big garden if I had one of the Hoss setups. Best thing about it... no gas!
PS- I just bought a single tine cultivator from Hoss. It's just a skinny one tooth hoe. I think it will be perfect for weeding around beets and carrots. It's definitely quality. You can tell as soon as you grab it.
Hoss tools are superior. Love the way they style their tools to the vintage predecessor. (Planet Jr) I use a Earthway seeder but would like to try their seeder. Jang seems to get all the buzz but their needs to be a true test.
Yep, the Jang seeder seems to be the buzz for sure! I just recently got an earthway seeder from the flea market...thing has never been used until I used it the other day. I agree about Hoss!-Thanks for the feedback!-Jason
Wheel hoes have been around since the 1800s or perhaps earlier. When I was a kid my Dad had a two wheel version made of all metal. That was 60 years ago. I used to turn it upside down and push it along pretending it was a bull with the cultivators up like horns. That was a whole lot more fun than cultivating the rows with it. That one is upstairs in my barn now. Last year I got lucky and found one of the vintage original single wheel ones at a flea market in mint condition. It was equipped with the sweeps. I look forward to trying it out this year. In my opinion these tools are too much for a small garden and not big enough for big garden where a tiller would work better with a whole lot less sweat. They do however have a use in some situations. I'm going to try to find those uses and dig that one out of my attic. I bet my grandson will enjoy playing bull fighter with it at least.
This was a GREAT comparison video Jason! I hope HOSS says you did them proud! I've been thinking on getting their double wheel high arch hoe for sometime now, just kinda saving up. Anything I've ever gotten from them has been AMAZING quality and I'm really happy w everything. Minus the garden satchel I just got, but whatever. Anyway, great job! I watched it twice 😂😂 Jenn Stone Seven Sprouts Farmstead Nicholls, Ga
Would say that Hoss is most likely better, but I can’t hardly justify the price comparison between the 2 right now. Don’t have the kind of money that Hoss wants for their tool as good as it is. Will be trying earthway until I see how it goes. Maybe one day I’ll make the switch. Good video though!
But Jason, ma and pa used the Earthway, that's the first selling point, familiarity is a big one. Price will be the next one, cause if the weeds are in tbe okra you can always hand pull and feed weeds to the pigs. I've fattened many a hog on weeds and corn. Matter of fact that pretty lady in the video looks like she's eaten plenty of weeds. Have a great day and God bless.
I love gardening and these little plows are so awesome ..I know for a fact I've thrown 2-3 of these away helping clean out old garages as a kid growing up...I had no idea what they were or how wonderful a tool they were...as a kid you don't know these things.. the people who could have shown me the importance of one of these tools were now dead....leaving me to wheel it around the drive way out to the curb for trash pick up...hahahaha.. You know what..some one always came along and took them before trash pick up...I should have paid more attention 🙄
I just bought the Hoss High Arch Wheel Hoe and it has cut down the amount of time it takes me to weed my garden in half. They are a little pricey. If I hadn't of had to spend so much on the wheel hoe I would have like to have gotten the seeder as well. It looks like it would be hard to assemble, but it only took me maybe 10 minutes or so to put it together.
Boom!! Awesome to know about the seeder! Thank you for sharing! They are a little pricey, but man they are so well built. I was honestly shocked at the quality, & from what I gather, their customer service is even better than their product.
If I could recommend you do a video on one tool from Hoss it would be the push pull hoe. I just weeded my garden in no time. Well worth the money. I never recommend anything, but this will help you tremendously and save you a ton of time.
Depth of till is directly related to the pressure you apply. I've been using the Hoss Double Wheel Hoe with cultivator teeth for years and it's quite easy to just make a quick pass without applying much pressure to knock out those young weeds without bringing up new weed seed. The oscillating hoes really shine in that application for me. I can do some serious weed damage with a 12" stirrup hoe and shallow passes! Adaptability of the Hoss platform is amazing. I'll use the spreader bar, put an oscillating hoe (various widths) in the center and either a sweep or single cultivator tooth out on the ends and run down the center of the rows. I even space rows in accordance with wheel hoe configuration distances. I've got a lot of garden tools I really like, none more so than my Hoss wheel hoe!
Life in the Gila Wilderness I've been using the Hoss double wheel hoe for years in addition to a broadfork and that is usually all I need to get my beds in shape. I generally cover crop my beds in late season and either overwinter it or let the frost get it depending on the crop. I will tarp all of my beds in late winter and kill off whatever cover is left (and weeds/weed seed), pull the tarps and work the beds with my wheel hoe and rake them out, pull the tarps back on to kill any weed seed I disturbed working the beds. Pull the tarps off then I'm ready to plant and go! I will till a bed once every few years or if I am incorporating a large amount of material (leaves for instance) into the bed. Other than that, I'm able to handle it with my wheel hoe and broadfork. Manual labor! Also, my wheel hoe never fails to start as my tiller did this spring!
I use both. The hoss goes deeper But earthway is easier to push. for plowing up my garden and after a hard rain I use the hoss to loosen the soil, For weeding, I like the big wheel better for my clay soil the small wheel of the Hoss does not like to go over big hard clods. But I use a single wheel, Maybe a double wheel might work better.
Hi Jason, I am from Bangladesh. Your video is wonderful. I love very much hoss wheel tools. I need to a full set, but I know its very difficult or costly to send it to Bangladesh. If you send me the specification the full set of Hoss wheel tools, Its very much helpful for me. Please....
Just watched the video. Once again Jason you have done a great job. Excellent job in explaining them both. I do have to say though that Ms. Peaches looks very lovely in her summer body she is showing off. She heading to the beach and working on a bikini body???? So glad she helped in giving her opinion once again. She is so good on the farm....
The smaller wheels actually let you transfer your power to the attachments. The larger wheel uses more power from you to get it turning vs the implement attached to it. It’s pure physics. The smaller wheel allows for more power to the implement.

I really enjoy your video's Jason! I usually watch youtube on Roku, so commenting is not optional there, or I would feedback more often. Was curious what editing software you were using if it's not a trade secret?! Thanks
Thank you!! No trade secret at all...I use Filomra, but, it does make me frustrated at times....I would like to step up to a more professional editing software but learning a whole new program is no fun either LOL....thank you again!-Jason
I've been really looking at Filmora, and Nero Premium 18. I have always liked Adobe products, but I don't do much with them anymore as to stay current is fully subscription which I really don't like, pay all that money, and if you don't continue then no more. Kind of like blackmail in my opinion. Thanks for your honesty, keep up the good informative videos with the awesome family friendly humor included! We have a total of 9 children, and I don't like worrying what they might pick up, so I am careful what I watch and listen to!
pretty awesome vid. Hoss makes some great items. Too bad you live so far away, as I have a whole room full of the real high and low wheel hoes, and the dozens of attachments, one could have bought for them, a 100 yrs back. You would dance for hours playing in my 1/4ac sand box here.
Hoss tools other send me one of them they want somebody to try a product while I have a 1-acre garden and I still use the old one wheel I could really put it to a test
LOL...don't think it didn't cross my mind, but...way too many parts for me to try & keep up with that crazy nut getting into it all! Thanks buddy!Jason
I would hVe like you to compare apples to apples, basically single wheel to single wheel. Everybody knows that two wheels will balance better then one. Hoss makes good products but as you say they're pricey.
a little late to the party but to be fair you are comparing a 150 dollar product to something over 500. The one wheel Hoss would be somewhat fair comparison but still a hundo more than the Earthway.

Awesome!!! They do have an amazing channel!! And have been just super to work with! Thank you!-Jason
I vote for the Hoss, it just looked like you were fighting the Earthway all the way!
Thanks J. I was so impressed with your first video of the Earthway. 5years and still strong is awesome but Hogg looks sweet...Love the product reviews.
sorry thinking of peaches lol *Hoss

Ok, you convinced me, I am going to order one of the Hoss two wheel hoes and the planter as well! Great video!

Great job all-around. Loved the side-by-side.

Really great demo and you made it fun as well.
Thanks!!! So glad you enjoyed it!
This was a great video. I am so glad you did this one. Thanks!
Thank you Nana!! So happy that you enjoyed the video-Jason
TFS I've been wanting one of those Hoss plows.........Sharon
You’re welcome Sharon & thank you!-Jason
Depends on your ground with clay I have to go with the high wheel to break it up then I can use the hoss.
It would be interesting to see a follow up I wonder if because the hoss is getting deeper that the garden will need less maintenance over time
Good idea!!! Thx

Thank you Jan :)
How long did it take you to film this video? Wow it was well done and edited. Probably worth the value of the Hoss. Thanks for all your work! ~Smile!

Really enjoyed the video . What kid If hat are you wearing and where can I buy one ? Thanks
As you land is so hilly have you thought of using permaculture methods and plotting awales on the contour to prevent erosion wtc
Хорошая работа, отличное изобретение.
WOW how nice. I wonder if they would send this old lady one of those? :) I could show how an old lady could even use it.
I use both. Just watched the video. Once again Jason you have done a great job. Excellent job in explaining them both. The smaller wheels actually let you transfer your power to the attachments. The larger wheel uses more power from you to get it turning vs the implement attached to it. It’s pure physics. The smaller wheel allows for more power to the implement.
That “Hoss” is pretty impressive!
It really was! Exceeded my expectations big time
When I see a box full of pieces and parts I feel my heart rate increase, my stomach knots up and shear panic sets in. I'm sure I'd close that box up and send it right back. For me, assembly required means I probably can do without.
Ha! It’s always intimidating for sure! What I always tell myself is don’t look at the whole picture and all those pieces, just start on step 1 and only focus on the steps. It works! Thanks buddy!-Jason
VERY simple setup on their wheel hoes. Takes all of 5 minutes.
The Hoss looks like a good tool
I honestly was very impressed with it
Love the video. "Go Hoss"

pretty awesome vid. Hoss makes some great items. Too bad you live so far away, as I have a whole room full of the real high and low wheel hoes, and the dozens of attachments, one could have bought for them, a 100 yrs back. You would dance for hours playing in my 1/4ac sand box here.

i like one tool which has loads of attachments !!

Where did you get the HAT?
How much muscle do those things take?
It does give you a work out but it’s not extremely difficult at all. Honestly, not much different than using a tiller IMO

I would hVe like you to compare apples to apples, basically single wheel to single wheel. Everybody knows that two wheels will balance better then one. Hoss makes good products but as you say they're pricey.
Half way through the vid I was thinking shut up and take my money!
Since you like the hoss over the earthway you can send me your old earthway and I'll put it to use lol
😂😂😂
a little late to the party but to be fair you are comparing a 150 dollar product to something over 500. The one wheel Hoss would be somewhat fair comparison but still a hundo more than the Earthway.
