    • @G0DofRock
      @G0DofRock 5 лет назад +73

      Was just looking for this comment to point that out.. Homelander was being quite realistic about that crash incident where Maeve was like "Can't you lift the plane?" Uh no not with the physical structure of planes. It's not like in Superman Returns or anything Superman has ever caught/saved lol

    • @Nerdiness1985
      @Nerdiness1985 5 лет назад +40

      That is only one of reasons Homelander stated.
      He does also mention that not being on solid ground is also a problem.
      And that chances are he'd either obliterate the plane entire or go straight through the entire thing all together.

    • @MikeBNumba6
      @MikeBNumba6 5 лет назад +66

      @@Nerdiness1985 I also like the part where he said he couldn't take the passengers off the plane back and forth. He wouldn't have enough time and the passengers wouldn't survive being that high up and moving that fast to the ground due to air pressure.

    • @ZombieWilfred
      @ZombieWilfred 5 лет назад +69

      Was looking for the structure and speed points being commented on. You guys are spot on. The scene doesn't show his limitations, it points out the limitations of the plane and people to survive his speed and strength.

    • @guts1258
      @guts1258 5 лет назад +29

      He also mentions how he would just flip the plane because of the imbalance of him trying to lift it.

  • @travisala8152
    @travisala8152 5 лет назад +191

    Correction; homelanders strength is unknown, the scene with the plane doomed to crash land Homelander says that he cannot stop the plane as it would tear apart if he would try slowing it down. It seems quite clear. And makes perfect sense as the shell of the plane could not support his small(perspective) hands from simply tearing into the aircraft.

      Terrell Littleton he expands his personal field of energy to objects he lifts keeping them solid. Homelander can’t do that. And true his limitations are a physical thing. The closest he could get to saving the plane would be to show more control hitting the terrorist with the lasers, maybe. If he could increase his surface area cover as much of the front of the plane and try slowing it down by flying towards the direction of the plane, or the only other thing that might work would be if homelander were to bend the pitch areas on the wings to try and generate a little lift to keep the decent slower.

His best bet was likely to fly along the underside the plane to catch up to its speed and then try to stabilize it to get it to a landing, but he'd still have the problem of how the heck he was gonna slow it down, and yea, he definitely wasn't gonna do all that shit haha.

  • @slothful2039
    @slothful2039 5 лет назад +1

    He's like a dark mirror of superman. Superman isn't a good person just because he's "special" or something like that. He's a good person because he was nurtured and raised by two good people.
    Of course there are other factors like personality, experiences, etc but the core reason is because of his environment. The environment someone is born into and what they are predisposed to heavily impact their psyche especially at a young age.
    Homelander was raised in a cold unfeeling environment. Which led to him being well... Rather sociopathic. Not to mention he's mainly haughty because that's what vought was building him up to be, he was forced from the moment of birth to be "the strongest, most amazing superhero" unlike superman he didn't choose to be well.. "a hero".

  • @emergenceproxy

    Amazing video, as usual! As a person who doesn't mind spoilers, that was a good ending. I believe Homelander says it's not that he couldn't "lift" the plane, more so that at those speeds he would just go through the plane. Implying that IRL superman could never catch an airplane because they were never designed to handle those kinds of stresses.

    About super strengh... it's not that he has limitations per se... it's abour physics : you can stop a plane with a hand no matter your strengh because of presure. There's an episode of Because Science about it precisely.
    And that's actualy a bonus point for this show imho. Since it wants to depict a "what if" super heroes were to be in a real world

    Hey Niat(I think that's how you spell it), the reason Homelander had issues with the plane wasn't because he couldn't use his full strength in flight. It's that the Boys pays attention to physics in ways most hero shows/comics/movies don't. Unlike Superman, he doesn't have the bio-aura that lets him pick up heavy things without them being destroyed by their own weight. So if he tried to stop it, the plane would probably shear in half or flip over from all of that force and momentum suddenly being stopped by an object the size of a human. It's the same reason A-Train ran into someone at full speed and they exploded like a can or soup, instead of just flying through the air like when Quicksilver runs into someone at Mach 21 or something.

    Big error at 5:34. You say he can't use his full strength in flight but no such thing was said or even implied I those scenes.
