There are plenty of signs at 3, 2, and 1 mile out that clearly state that there is a divide in the freeway for you to choose which split to take. Obviously this person was not paying any attention to that until the last second. Combine that with 90+ mph and people not wearing seat belts and this is what you get. The smallest bit of responsibility prevents stuff like this. It has nothing to do with it being dark or being a dangerous road. The road is wide and well marked with signage everywhere. It's one person's fault and that's it. That being said, I feel bad for the survivor because I'd never want to survive that and be a vegetable.

Well I’ll say this, to give the complete benefit of the doubt, excluding impairment and whatever else. LA’s freeways are incredibly hectic, with exits in every direction, and can be extremely confusing even for residents. But at safe traveling speed and full concentration, you are able to manage. But going 90, it’s very understandable how an exit barricade planted as a divider can catch a speeding motorist off guard. Rest in peace to the victims

A long time ago, after years of not wearing seatbelts every time I was in a passenger seat, but always wearing one when I drove, I thought "I trust my driving more than anyone else's." and started wearing one in every vehicle.
These people never had the experience to teach them the lesson in time to save their lives.
Lawyers will be fighting first chance to get the families to hire them and sue the highway department and driver's insurance company.

Last month I was in LA on the 5 and was about to merge left when I saw a car flying by at high speed. It's not your personal; race track people. Had I not looked and just moved into the left lane, that driver would probably be dead as well as passenger and myself. It's super scary on the roads in SoCal because people are either "distracted", drunk, high, or hauling asps!
