Oh, man, these two were my favorites (along with this quiet dude named Rodney) from WAY back and this series tells me they still are. Why give us new footage? Because it's like having a conversation with a favorite cousin who lives across the country, I guess. Same face, same voice, new setting and topics... We just want to keep geeking on the dudes who helped define and fuel this mysterious flame that we couldn't back away from if we even wanted to. Yeah, these two shoulder a LOT of pressure from all the skate junkies who saw them skate and said "that, that's my kindred". Watching this series and learning where these guys are at and knowing that they're happy is enough for sure. Do I want to see them skate? Yep, but I think skating with them would be the ideal and watching 'current' interviews is as good as it gets otherwise. They know what they did and they know what it meant and still means and THAT is what's important to me. That and maybe skating with one or both of them sometime ;)

Natas is self conscious, lol, the dudes a legend. Both of them are, here we are just stoked to get an interview and hear their voices.

as a skater turning 40 soon , it would actually be cool to see new footage of TG or Natas just rolling

I agree, I'm 39 and I started skating when I was like 9. I'd love to see a video with Tommy and Natas just cruising around. Pushing. Ollie over a parking block or doing slappys, anything. I get just as stoked, maybe more just watching someone with style just "ride" their board than someone doing something crazy down way too many stairs.

I know this is an old video, but in high school my nick name was oldschool. I came skating in the mid to late 80’s, pre kicked up noses. My first real board was a hand me down Mike McGill. But I moved states in the early 90’s. It was right as small wheels, extra baggy pants and skinny boards. I had the baggy pants, but an old Rob Roscop face 2 with goldwing trucks.

Thanks TG. Love the Natas interviews. I want to add, the reasons why I would like to see Natas or TG, or anybody else of that generation, have some footage. It's because at this point, I am not looking for you to prove yourself, or do better. I don't mind if you are hesitant or not as confident. I understand you are self conscious and feel like you're not how you used to be, but we don't blame you. If anything, we apologize for putting that pressure on you even after all that you've done for us. I just want to see if you still love skateboarding like I still do. Because now that I'm 40, all I want to do is roll around, slappy this, and try to carve some tranny. And I feel like the way I enjoy it now is closer to how I did when I first started. I just hope to see that you still enjoy it too, thats all. I'd be really pumped to simply see TG and Natas film each other janky bro cam style on their cell phones. That's all that I really want to see. Thanks TG and Natas.

Definitely agree. This is why I like seeing new footage of Gonz, because you can really see that he's having fun, being himself.

I'd love to film these too
Also, it's kinda funny to see them cringe at their footage while we lose our minds over seeing them simply push

Haha, love this one: Natas gets philosophical saying that stacking clips of skating and skating mean the same thing to some of us sometimes. This is what philosopher Alfred North Whitehead called “The Fallacy of Misplaced Concreteness,” i.e., the error of mistaking the abstract (eg an image on a screen of skating) for the concrete (a thing that stands before us in the REAL world - eg a skateboarder, a curb, or a handrail). I think the Gonz has spoken about this too, saying that "if it isn't documented, it didn't happen" - and I guess that what TG means about how 99% of it is not really worth documenting, because it's not pushing skateboarding's evolution or part of it's history.

well spoken and stoked that you pulled some philosophical insight into the idea. Essentially, we now go by a postmodern system of skateboarding. What you do in real life isn't real until it's documented. The media is the conduit to reality.

John Coltrane was quoted as saying the most of the best music was never recorded. Think about all the epic stuff Blender and Lucero invented when they were pioneering street that we will never see, or the Gonz stuff that he filmed just before starting Blind

Because Skateboard Madness, because Skateboard Kings, because Endless Summer... Watching any or all of them will immediately make it clear as to why... Because it looks damn good on screen.

Rodney Mullen is super humble. He doesn't even like taking credit for the things he pioneered/invented
