      @@PhdAAA It's not that they weren't aloud. The issue just hadn't come up at that point because there hadn't been Gentile converts until then. And when it did, the revelation came about right away. If the early Church did it the way Mormonism did, they would have continue to deny Gentiles full membership and then conveniently had "revelation" if the secular Romans used their refusal to let them in against them.

      Throughout the Old testament, God has made a covenant with the jewish people and have allowed them grace amongst others.
      But God did say that one day, the blessings and promises they have shall be given over to the gentiles.
      Jesus fulfilled the prophecy by first offering salvation to the jews and then to the rest of us.
      Though there had been instances where Jesus spoke to Samarians, Canaanites and those outside of the jewish culture.
      Ironically, Jesus's message was well received by non-jews while the majority of the jewish temples and people rejected Him, thus leading to His crucifixion.
      God has made numerous statements throughout the Bible that the jews have been a stiff-necked people all the way who have barely been faithful to Him, that is why Jesus made allusions and parables like the wedding guests, the seeds and so forth.
      Some jews even today reject Christianity and believe salvation is only something the jews are entitled to and no one elses. Racist doctrines still exist.

      Jesus himself was black. Adam was black ( he was made of dust or mud). The whole Bible is a historical book of Blacks!!! Therefore, the priesthood according to the Bible ( Black people's book), belongs to Hebrew Israelites who are Black. In 2012 Gerd Muller discovered that the garden of Eden is between Ethiopia and Eritrea. It is the pink Adam and Eve who need to be explained to world that is so blind that they don't understand. Before Europeans came to Africa with Bible, most African Bantu communities were holding religious rituals that were 1:1 as the old testament. They were also circumcising their sons as is written in the Old Testament. The reason why they lost it is explained in Deut.28:15-65. These were prophetic curses that were to be befall Hebrew Israelites if they didn't obey their God. And these is evident with the Blacks in America today who originated from Bantu communities in Africa.

We grow or make it, gather it, get it ready, fly it where its needed before anyone else barely gets in gear, and we distribute it- and in distributing it we also find others we can help (and you don't need to be a member or invite the missionaries over)- and then we teach the sufferers long term solutions if we are allowed. The electricity of our buildings also costs money, as does their building, maintenance and upkeep. We pay property taxes (though we could get out of the) on our religious structures, and we pay all taxes on any non-exempt businesses the Church owns while other churches hide business revenues under religious exemption. This attitude is reflected in Joseph Smith's first literary work, the Book of Mormon. Joseph Smith claimed that in 1827, on a hill in upstate New York, a heavenly being delivered into his hands a long hidden record of the ancient inhabitants of the Americas. Over the next three years Smith worked on his translation of the record, assisted by various scribes and then returned the ancient plates to the messenger (see History of the Church, vol. 1, by Joseph Smith, Deseret Book, 1978, pp. 18-19).
    After convincing a neighbor to help finance the printing, Smith published his work in 1830, titled the Book of Mormon.
    This record tells the story of a group of Israelites who fled Jerusalem about 600 B.C. and came to America. They soon divided into two groups, the righteous Nephites, who were "white," and the wicked Lamanites, who were cursed with "a skin of blackness." Part of the rational for God making the wicked "dark" was to insure that they were less "enticing" to the righteous "white" people:
    And it came to pass that I beheld, after they had dwindled in unbelief they became a dark and loathsome, and a filthy people, full of idleness and all manner of abominations (Book of Mormon, 1 Nephi 12:23).
    And he had caused the cursing to come upon them, yea, even a sore cursing . . . wherefore, as they were white, and exceedingly fair and delightsome, that they might not be enticing unto my people the Lord God did cause a skin of blackness to come upon them (Book of Mormon, 2 Nephi 5:21).
    Behold the Lamanites your brethren, whom ye hate because of their filthiness and the cursing which hath come upon their skins . . . (Book of Mormon, Jacob 3:5).
    O my brethren, I fear that unless ye shall repent of your sins that their skins will be whiter than yours, when ye shall be brought before the throne of God (Book of Mormon, Jacob 3:8).
    And the skins of the Lamanites were dark, according to the mark which was set upon their fathers, which was a curse upon them because of their transgression and their rebellion against their brethren, . . . who were just and holy men . . . and the Lord God set a mark upon them, yea, upon Laman and Lemuel, and also the sons of Ishmael, and Ishmaelitish women.
    And this was done that their seed might be distinguished from the seed of their brethren, that [p. 7] thereby the Lord God might preserve his people, that they might not mix and believe in incorrect traditions . . . (Book of Mormon, Alma 3:6).
    Towards the end of the Book of Mormon one of the righteous leaders, Mormon, declares that in the last days the gospel will again be taken to the Lamanites
    that the seed of this people may more fully believe his gospel, which shall go forth unto them from the Gentiles; for this people shall be scattered, and shall become a dark, a filthy, and a loathsome people, beyond the description of that which ever hath been amongst us, yea, even that which hath been among the Lamanites, and this because of their unbelief and idolatry (Book of Mormon, Mormon 5:15).
    The Lamanites purportedly destroyed all of the Nephites in battle approximately A.D. 400, thus leaving only the dark skinned people in the land.
    While the Book of Mormon states that God "denieth none that come unto him, black and white, bond and free" (2 Nephi 26:33), it still embraces a racist concept that dark skin is a curse from God.

      So the Lamanites are todays indigenous people? I feel like the BOM belongs more to the indigenous people than the anglo people but sadly mormonism in general has been white washed for most of its existence. Before joining a faith do some research first because most missionaries don't know the full history of their religion or have been denied getting access knowledge of previous book editions that still exists. If the books say or said something about skin color that is considered degrading, then don't join the religion.

    I been doubt of all religions. I can understand someone having a need, calling, sense of fullfulment. Some claim they received answers from prayer. I haven't. Tried, once believed even when nothing came of it. I find inspiration from within, my belief that in order for all to live among each other, a morality is needed, a social morality. I meditate. So many ask my advice on life issues, yes, the religious, and they know I'm not religious.

      Throughout history of God and man the priesthood was always limited as to its membership. For example, with the Children of Israel only the Levites held the priesthood and fortunately today all worthy male members can receive this priesthood. The power of this priesthood is not in who holds it but the ordinance that can be preformed through it. For example only men with the priesthood can baptize but its not the man who baptizes that receives the blessing but the one getting baptized and that is the exact same for men and women.

      It's a Mormon Multiverse. Once you dig deeper ... It's exactly that. Belief in millions of God's. The God of this planet , Elohim, was once actually a man that achieved Godhood through the teachings of Mormonism on another planet. He has sex with Mary and had a son named Jesus. Jesus had sex with woman ... Was a polygamist. Jesus and Lucifer are brothers. I mean ... The intergalactic drama wreaks of a young Joseph Smith smoking a whole lot of shrooms.

    Some African men did receive the Mormon Priesthood when Joseph Smith was alive. Joseph knew about it and did not object to it. The restrictive policy of not ordaining African men to the priesthood was from Brigham Young. There is no recorded revelation that restricted priesthood in the latter-days. Brigham Young provided physical characteristics to identify those who were restricted, such as having a flat nose.
    There existed doctrines from other Christian churches of that era about the Bible's description of the mark of cain and what that meant. In Mormon Scripture, there is a verse that was speaking about the time of the Pharaohs, and that African men were stating that they had the priesthood when in fact they shouldn't because of their lineage.
    Later Presidents of the Church expected a revelation to end the restriction, rather than just changing the policy. This revelation occurred in the 1970s when Spencer W. Kimball was President. Some believe that this was a reaction to political pressure from the then President of the US, Jimmy Carter. The rumor says the issue was the Church's tax exempt status (if you want to keep it, change the policy about African men being restricted from the priesthood).
    Although the change has occurred, the African community of all nations are still wary of the LDS Church. It may take decades, perhaps centuries, to finally heal this rift.

      Colin Patterson You should keep in mind that Brigham Young, Joseph Smith and all their cronies were racist. At this point the conditions are worse than complicated, as so many colored people have intermarried white Mormons of good will who were also very upset against their own people, in the horrendously white supremacist state of Utah. Many white Mormons are leaving the religion where they were born and grew up, to wander around in the circles of atheism and humanism, since they don't find peace in the convoluted environment that the racist history of Mormonism brought up to them, historically. These white people are suffering for the odds that not themselves but their ancestors and culture have caused. For those who were not born Mormons, the return to their religions of origin comes in a smooth way, because they do have friends and culture to relate to. That is what happened to me when I discovered the Journals of Brigham Young and at that point I understood the nature and reason of the Virgin of Guadalupe, a black virgin in the Catholic religion where I was raised up.
      But, for those who do not relate in their childhood having been raised into a different religion where they may resort to in the case they face the contradictions of Mormonism, the stronghold fails, causing enormous pain and suffering to people who are not guilty of having been born and raised in the fanatical white supremacy of the traditional Mormon Church. For this reason, I strongly suggest you to consider compassion as the only spiritual tool that should allow all of us, no matter what color, to realize that even in the event that a religion was created and made by men who had their own shortcomings and prejudices, the people of this generation who are born and raised inside Mormonism are as vulnerable as the people "of color" when they face the contradictions that are contained in a religion that is desperately trying to make things right, in spite of all the historical wrongs. Please let keep this in mind and try to separate your anger and disagreement with the incoherences of the dogma, from the persons of all colors that are suffering today as much as any person of color does, at the confrontation of the wrongs that racism has brought to each of us through a religion that was evidently monitored by the racist hatred of those who created it. The quest is now not for destruction but for reformation.
      Let me give you one example of Reformation: Martin Luther, creator of the Lutheran Church in Europe, wrote most vicious statements against the Jews. Yet, the Lutheran Church has apologized and corrected their purpose and calling, so that today one can rest assured that when contacting a Lutheran reverend, the anti-Semitic part will have been recognized and corrected. The same has happened in the history of Catholicity, as we all know that some of the Catholic Popes were terrible sinners who used the religion to advance their egoistic ambition. Yet, the Catholic Church has recognized these errors and even the Popes today admit that not all Popes have been right. Let us pray for the Mormon Leaders to find Intelligence and come to similar conclusions in the treatment of the incoherences of their own human history. But, let's not blame them into total accusations, because they are not guilty of being born in that locus of history where they are at.
      Below the Luther's quotes that should give you an idea of how wrong the religious leaders can become, gathered under this link: www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/anti-semitism/Luther_on_Jews.html
      [Beginning Quote]
      The following are excerpts from Luther's work entitled "The Jews & their Lies":
      I had made up my mind to write no more either about the Jews or against them. But since I learned that these miserable and accursed people do not cease to lure to themselves even us, that is, the Christians, I have published this little book, so that I might be found among those who opposed such poisonous activities of the Jews who warned the Christians to be on their guard against them. I would not have believed that a Christian could be duped by the Jews into taking their exile and wretchedness upon himself. However, the devil is the god of the world, and wherever God's word is absent he has an easy task, not only with the weak but also with the strong. May God help us. Amen.
      * * *
      He did not call them Abraham's children, but a "brood of vipers" [Matt. 3:7]. Oh, that was too insulting for the noble blood and race of Israel, and they declared, "He has a demon' [Matt 11:18]. Our Lord also calls them a "brood of vipers"; furthermore in John 8 [:39,44] he states: "If you were Abraham's children ye would do what Abraham did.... You are of your father the devil. It was intolerable to them to hear that they were not Abraham's but the devil's children, nor can they bear to hear this today.
      * * *
      Therefore the blind Jews are truly stupid fools...
      * * *
      Now just behold these miserable, blind, and senseless people ... their blindness and arrogance are as solid as an iron mountain.
      * * *
      Learn from this, dear Christian, what you are doing if you permit the blind Jews to mislead you. Then the saying will truly apply, "When a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into the pit" [cf. Luke 6:39]. You cannot learn anything from them except how to misunderstand the divine commandments...
      * * *
      Therefore be on your guard against the Jews, knowing that wherever they have their synagogues, nothing is found but a den of devils in which sheer selfglory, conceit, lies, blasphemy, and defaming of God and men are practiced most maliciously and veheming his eyes on them.
      * * *
      Moreover, they are nothing but thieves and robbers who daily eat no morsel and wear no thread of clothing which they have not stolen and pilfered from us by means of their accursed usury. Thus they live from day to day, together with wife and child, by theft and robbery, as archthieves and robbers, in the most impenitent security.
      * * *
      However, they have not acquired a perfect mastery of the art of lying; they lie so clumsily and ineptly that anyone who is just a little observant can easily detect it. But for us Christians they stand as a terrifying example of God's wrath.
      * * *
      If I had to refute all the other articles of the Jewish faith, I should be obliged to write against them as much and for as long a time as they have used for inventing their lies that is, longer than two thousand years.
      * * *
      ...Christ and his word can hardly be recognized because of the great vermin of human ordinances. However, let this suffice for the time being on their lies against doctrine or faith.
      * * *
      Did I not tell you earlier that a Jew is such a noble, precious jewel that God and all the angels dance when he farts?
      * * *
      Alas, it cannot be anything but the terrible wrath of God which permits anyone to sink into such abysmal, devilish, hellish, insane baseness, envy, and arrogance. If I were to avenge myself on the devil himself I should be unable to wish him such evil and misfortune as God's wrath inflicts on the Jews, compelling them to lie and to blaspheme so monstrously, in violation of their own conscience. Anyway, they have their reward for constantly giving God the lie.
      * * *
      No, one should toss out these lazy rogues by the seat of their pants.
      * * *
      ...but then eject them forever from this country. For, as we have heard, God's anger with them is so intense that gentle mercy will only tend to make them worse and worse, while sharp mercy will reform them but little. Therefore, in any case, away with them!
      * * *
      Over and above that we let them get rich on our sweat and blood, while we remain poor and they such the marrow from our bones.
      * * *
      I brief, dear princes and lords, those of you who have Jews under your rule if my counsel does not please your, find better advice, so that you and we all can be rid of the unbearable, devilish burden of the Jews, lest we become guilty sharers before God in the lies, blasphemy, the defamation, and the curses which the mad Jews indulge in so freely and wantonly against the person of our Lord Jesus Christ, this dear mother, all Christians, all authority, and ourselves. Do not grant them protection, safeconduct, or communion with us.... .With this faithful counsel and warning I wish to cleanse and exonerate my conscience.
      * * *
      Let the government deal with them in this respect, as I have suggested. But whether the government acts or not, let everyone at least be guided by his own conscience and form for himself a definition or image of a Jew.
      * * *
      However, we must avoid confirming them in their wanton lying, slandering, cursing, and defaming. Nor dare we make ourselves partners in their devilish ranting and raving by shielding and protecting them, by giving them food, drink, and shelter, or by other neighborly
      * * *
      Therefore we Christians, in turn, are obliged not to tolerate their wanton and conscious blasphemy.
      * * *
      Accordingly, it must and dare not be considered a trifling matter but a most serious one to seek counsel against this and to save our souls from the Jews, that is, from the devil and from eternal death.
      * * *
      What shall we Christians do with this rejected and condemned people, the Jews? Since they live among us, we dare not tolerate their conduct, now that we are aware of their lying and reviling and blaspheming. If we do, we become sharers in their lies, cursing and blasphemy. Thus we cannot extinguish the unquenchable fire of divine wrath, of which the prophets speak, nor can we convert the Jews. With prayer and the fear of God we must practice a sharp mercy to see whether we might save at least a few from the glowing flames. We dare not avenge ourselves. Vengeance a thousand times worse than we could wish them already has them by the throat. I shall give you my sincere advice:
      First to set fire to their synagogues or schools and to bury and cover with dirt whatever will not burn, so that no man will ever again see a stone or cinder of them. This is to be done in honor of our Lord and of Christendom, so that God might see that we are Christians, and do not condone or knowingly tolerate such public lying, cursing, and blaspheming of his Son and of his Christians. For whatever we tolerated in the past unknowingly and I myself was unaware of it will be pardoned by God. But if we, now that we are informed, were to protect and shield such a house for the Jews, existing right before our very nose, in which they lie about, blaspheme, curse, vilify, and defame Christ and us (as was heard above), it would be the same as if we were doing all this and even worse ourselves, as we very well know.
      Second, I advise that their houses also be razed and destroyed. For they pursue in them the same aims as in their synagogues. Instead they might be lodged under a roof or in a barn, like the gypsies. This will bring home to them that they are not masters in our country, as they boast, but that they are living in exile and in captivity, as they incessantly wail and lament about us before God.
      Third, I advise that all their prayer books and Talmudic writings, in which such idolatry, lies, cursing and blasphemy are taught, be taken from them. (remainder omitted)
      Fourth, I advise that their rabbis be forbidden to teach henceforth on pain of loss of life and limb. For they have justly forfeited the right to such an office by holding the poor Jews captive with the saying of Moses (Deuteronomy 17 [:10 ff.]) in which he commands them to obey their teachers on penalty of death, although Moses clearly adds: "what they teach you in accord with the law of the Lord." Those villains ignore that. They wantonly employ the poor people's obedience contrary to the law of the Lord and infuse them with this poison, cursing, and blasphemy. In the same way the pope also held us captive with the declaration in Matthew 16 {:18], "You are Peter," etc, inducing us to believe all the lies and deceptions that issued from his devilish mind. He did not teach in accord with the word of God, and therefore he forfeited the right to teach.
      Fifth, I advise that safeconduct on the highways be abolished completely for the Jews. For they have no business in the countryside, since they are not lords, officials, tradesmen, or the like. Let they stay at home. (...remainder omitted).
      Sixth, I advise that usury be prohibited to them, and that all cash and treasure of silver and gold be taken from them and put aside for safekeeping. The reason for such a measure is that, as said above, they have no other means of earning a livelihood than usury, and by it they have stolen and robbed from us all they possess. Such money should now be used in no other way than the following: Whenever a Jew is sincerely converted, he should be handed one hundred, two hundred, or three hundred florins, as personal circumstances may suggest. With this he could set himself up in some occupation for the support of his poor wife and children, and the maintenance of the old or feeble. For such evil gains are cursed if they are not put to use with God's blessing in a good and worthy cause.
      Seventh, I commend putting a flail, an ax, a hoe, a spade, a distaff, or a spindle into the hands of young, strong Jews and Jewesses and letting them earn their bread in the sweat of their brow, as was imposed on the children of Adam (Gen 3[:19]}. For it is not fitting that they should let us accursed Goyim toil in the sweat of our faces while they, the holy people, idle away their time behind the stove, feasting and farting, and on top of all, boasting blasphemously of their lordship over the Christians by means of our sweat. No, one should toss out these lazy rogues by the seat of their pants.
      * * *
      But what will happen even if we do burn down the Jews' synagogues and forbid them publicly to praise God, to pray, to teach, to utter God's name? They will still keep doing it in secret. If we know that they are doing this in secret, it is the same as if they were doing it publicly. for our knowledge of their secret doings and our toleration of them implies that they are not secret after all and thus our conscience is encumbered with it before God.
      * * *
      Accordingly, it must and dare not be considered a trifling matter but a most serious one to seek counsel against this and to save our souls from the Jews, that is, from the devil and from eternal death. My advice, as I said earlier, is:
      First, that their synagogues be burned down, and that all who are able toss in sulphur and pitch; it would be good if someone could also throw in some hellfire. That would demonstrate to God our serious resolve and be evidence to all the world that it was in ignorance that we tolerated such houses, in which the Jews have reviled God, our dear Creator and Father, and his Son most shamefully up till now but that we have now given them their due reward.
      * * *
      I wish and I ask that our rulers who have Jewish subjects exercise a sharp mercy toward these wretched people, as suggested above, to see whether this might not help (though it is doubtful). They must act like a good physician who, when gangrene has set in, proceeds without mercy to cut, saw, and burn flesh, veins, bone, and marrow. Such a procedure must also be followed in this instance. Burn down their synagogues, forbid all that I enumerated earlier, force them to work, and deal harshly with them, as Moses did in the wilderness, slaying three thousand lest the whole people perish. They surely do not know what they are doing; moreover, as people possessed, they do not wish to know it, hear it, or learn it. There it would be wrong to be merciful and confirm them in their conduct. If this does not help we must drive them out like mad dogs, so that we do not become partakers of their abominable blasphemy and all their other vices and thus merit God's wrath and be damned with them. I have done my duty. Now let everyone see to his. I am exonerated. "
      * * *
      My essay, I hope, will furnish a Christian (who in any case has no desire to become a Jew) with enough material not only to defend himself against the blind, venomous Jews, but also to become the foe of the Jews' malice, lying, and cursing, and to understand not only that their belief is false but that they are surely possessed by all devils. May Christ, our dear Lord, convert them mercifully and preserve us steadfastly and immovably in the knowledge of him, which is eternal life. Amen.

      The ban ended in 1978. Therefore your husband can hold the priesthood. But the church leadership has not rescinded or rejected the following supporting claims that were repeatedly made by Church Presidents, apostles, and First Presidency statements in support of the ban: (a) Cain's skin was darkened to indicate cursing, (b) Cain's descendants have dark skin, (c) Lamanite (Native American) skin was darkened as an indicator of cursing, (d) skin color has been lightened/darkened by God as an indicator of cursing or good/bad character, (e) people with dark skin were less faithful in the pre-existence by failing to side with Jesus against Satan. Sources are available upon request. Maybe you should know the theology and history of the church you defend.None of that is intended to take away from the memory of your husband - let's assume he was a good man and I'm sorry for your loss.

      It is likely she may be telling the truth. The LDS Church has grown in Africa and among many Africans. In many cases the converts know nothing (at least at first, if they ever learn) about the racism within LDS theology and history. It is very possible that Christina Ostil might not know about the racist history and theology. Recruiting in Africa has the following benefits for LDS as a church: (a) growth in membership numbers which has always been very important to church leadership, (b) it is a cover that allows the LDS Church to claim that there is no racism within the church, even as it fails to address core problems that remain. The LDS Church and its defenders can say "see, we have increasing diversity in membership" whenever anyone points out problems such as I just did. When racism is seen as merely something exhibited one-person-to-another then it is also possible for Chrsitina to point to a lack of cruelty experienced in the church by her husband (and this again may be the case). But when it is seen as something broader and systemic then we need to look at the type of systemic issues I brought up in my response to her.

    How do we determine whether a church is teaching correct doctrine or not? The only infallible standard that Scripture says that we have is the Bible (Isaiah 8:20; 2 Timothy 3:15-17; Matthew 5:18; John 10:35; Isaiah 40:8; 1 Peter 2:25; Galatians 1:6-9). Tradition is a part of every church, and that tradition must be compared to God's Word, lest it go against what is true (Mark 7:1-13). It is true that the cults and sometimes orthodox churches twist the interpretation of Scripture to support their practices; nonetheless, Scripture, when taken in context and faithfully studied, is able to guide one to the truth.The Bible speaks against musical instruments in the church. Amos 5:21-23 What is the doctrine of the Mormon church?

    I have seen several comments claiming that God is racist based on writings in the holy books. This is hard to deny. The central theme of the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament) is that God gave Abraham exclusive rights to a large tract of land. Then Abraham's descendants fight over it because it is not clear who the "rights" pass to as people die. The Jews came back from Egypt 400 years later to claim their land, and there is nothing said about a "statute of limitations", and God commands them to kill all living things currently in that land. Since God does not provide a universal "title holding" company to reconcile this, the only motivation that humans can see is racism.
    Stating that Gods ways are beyond our comprehension is not satisfying. All one can do is accept this on faith. For me, this and things like it leave a bad taste in my mouth.

    This was a question of policy. Jesus Christ, being from the tribe of Judah and not Levi, was not permitted to officiate inside the Holy of Holies. Even Jesus Christ himself was not given all the rights of the priesthood while in mortality. However, because Mormons believe in retroactively saving dead generations through ordinances such as baptism and/or priesthood ordinations for the dead(and always have since the inception of the LDS church), they were never going to be denied the priesthood in eternity.

    The Mormon God and the Living Prophet have had communication problems in the past. An example of this occurred in 1978 when the RACIST Mormon God and the "Living Prophet" at the time. Spencer Kimball, had a discussion about blacks and the priesthood.
    It turns out the RACIST Mormon God was not very happy with Spencer for giving blacks the priesthood. During their conversation, the poor hearing Spencer, thought the RACIST Mormon God said: "Give the blacks the priesthood". However what the RACIST Mormon God actually said was "Get the blacks back in their neighborhood".

      God communicates in mysterious ways and throughout the history of Mormonism some communication problems have occurred between the Mormon God and the Living Prophet.
      The first example of these communication problems started with Joseph Smith and the Mormon God. The result of this misunderstanding between the two is how the title of the book that became the center piece for Joe's new religion came to be. Joe came up with the name "Book of Mormon" immediately following a conversation with God, during which Joe told God about the story of the gold plates. After he finished telling God the story of the gold plates Joe was certain God responded to his story about the gold plates by shouting the words... YOU MORMON, YOU MORMON, YOU MORMON!"

    Mormonism explained:
    1. A young treasure hunter with a history of being a con man was chosen by a deity to dig up ancient golden plates, translate them by use of some carnival sunglasses and magic rocks, beg for the money to publish it, and then deliver said plates to an angel that took the plates back to Disneyland.
    2. God has a wife, Mrs God? If Mormons on Kolob are supposed to have an infinite number of wives, why does God only have a single wife?ruclips.net/video/fyl-68PrYVk/видео.html

    6. An ancient civilization existed in the Western Hemisphere consisting of Lamanites and Nephites in a limited geographical area that hasn't been found.
    7. Joseph Smith's wife caught him having sex with another woman and he told her that God commanded him to have many wives. Mrs Smith believed him. Mrs Smith certainly wasn't the brightest penny in the pile!
    8.Blacks were banned from the? Mormon priesthood because they remained neutral
    in the Great Celestial War !?! However, in 1978 God telephoned the head
    of the LDS and removed the ban on blacks. This, of course, had nothing
    to do with the Federal Government's threat of the LDS losing its tax
    exempt status for being a bigoted organization violating basic US civil
    rights.
    9. Both Ann Frank and Adolf Hitler are of the same religion as they have both been posthumously baptized in the Mormon religion. In Mormon heaven, aka Planet Kolob Jews and Nazis live together in loving peace.
    10. Actually the Mormon men are too busy to fight as they have to copulate with their infinite number of celestial wives. Every copulation leads to the creation of a human soul.
    11.Joe Smith also wrote that the moon is inhabited by people dressed like Quakers: www.mrm.org/moon-men I don't know why the Apollo missions didn't encounter these moon men.
    These 11 topics are only what I could write from memory. Please correct me if any of these facts are erroneous.? If Mormons are named after the "Angel" Moroni, then why don't they call themselves Morons? I can't claim credit for this last statement as it
    came from "Angels in America." However, it's so good that I had to use it. :-)

    This talk was in 1973, long before racism became the shame game it is today. America was still sorting out segregation issues in the South, while the Martin Luther King assassination was only five years old. He'd have rolled over in his grave to see Obama become president.
    As for the LDS Church position then and now, it is what it is and I have no comment. In 1830 when the BofM was first published a congregation of followers came together. They all received the same priesthood authority after baptism. That included men and women both Black and White. Many including Ann Eliza, Brigham's 19th (and former) wife recalled the amazing spirit that attended those early meetings.

    No it didn’t come from the Lord Jesus Christ. It was man alone who refused this order simply through racism where there is no evidence to support their claims in scripture because God does not hold grudges only man. If any man shows repentance and comes unto him they are worthy before God.

    All they had to do was look at Acts 10:34, 35 to see that all men who do God's will are acceptable in His eyes. I wonder why they didn't recognize that until 1978...oh, that's right; LDS writings are given supremacy over the Bible. That's the last place they'd look.

    in 1979 the lds church did begin giving the priesthood to people of African descent. They still have never given any official explanation on why they did not give the priesthood to africans until that time. To put a little perspective on the matter, before Moses the Priesthood was only given as a birth right to the patriarch of the family like Abraham and Isaac. When the Lord took the children of Israel out of Egypt during the time of Moses, the priesthood changed. From that time until the coming of Christ, only members of the tribe of Levi could hold the Priesthood and only descendants of Aaron could officiate in ordinances like washings annointings and animal sacrifices. And obviously at that point the covenant was only with the Jews, so if you are going to believe in the bible you have to accept that God was pretty exclusive with his blessings and covenants and has expanded over the years to more and more people. When Christ came, people of other tribes and even gentiles began holding the priesthood. There is evidence to suggest that it may have been given to people of african descent, but no overwhelming proof directly from the bible. An interesting story from the bible that may add some light is
    2 samuel chapter 6: 3-8
    3 And they set the ark of God upon a new cart, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab that was in Gibeah: and Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, drave the new cart.
    4 And they brought it out of the house of Abinadab which was at Gibeah, accompanying the ark of God: and Ahio went before the ark.
    5 And David and all the house of Israel played before the Lord on all manner of instruments made of fir wood, even on harps, and on psalteries, and on timbrels, and on cornets, and on cymbals.
    6 ¶ And when they came to Nachon’s threshingfloor, Uzzah put forth his hand to the ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen shook it.
    7 And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error; and there he died by the ark of God.
    8 And David was displeased, because the Lord had made a breach upon Uzzah: and he called the name of the place Perez-uzzah to this day.
    So even though they had good intentions, they werent the people the lord had designated to move the arc, so they were struck down. I hope this at least has brought some perspective to the issues of race and priesthood, I dont think God is a racist of course, but church leaders never once claimed that they received a revelation telling them to not give it to africans, they just seemed really unsure about it, since they had not been given explicit permission, maybe they found it better to wait until they received it given the experiences of the old testament. I would also like to point out that main stream baptists and other religions had the same policies and many of them actually changed it after the Mormon church did, so some of you may want to double check your own religions history on the issue before casting judgement. At any rate, I dont fully understand why the policy was there, but I am greatful that it changed.

      Sam Marchant, you aren't exactly cutting it straight. 1) the priesthood in the Mormon church is not analagous to the Levitical priesthood, because it was open to practically any male over 12, and was essential to achieve full salvation. (2) Mormon holy books are pretty clear that Africans were bad, it wasn't just a case of "they had not been given explicit permission". (3) Were they ever given explicit permission for Asians, Europeans, Australians, North Americans, or South Americans?
      (4) You're lying when you say "main stream baptists and other religions had the same policies and many of them actually changed it after the Mormon church did so." Baptist churches allowed Black pastors well before 1979. Assembly of God churches, probably the most racist of all, opened their doors to Black leadership in 1963. What kind of crazy calendar are you going by, where 1979 came before 1963?

    Ironically, Pacific islanders where were recruited by the Mormon church have now moved in large numbers to the Salt Lake area, there, they are increasingly involved in gang violence and other crimes. Today, black men can (and do) hold office in the LDS church, overturning the interpretation of Joseph Smith's original thoughts on the matter. That, also ironically, is also one of the main failures of the Mormons as an organized body. In the Bible, which they claim to hold sacred, Jesus says that He's the same yesterday, today and forever. His role in the Mormon church is drastically different than the role the Bible describes for Him. The role of God, HIs Son and His TRUE church, governed through council with God's Holy Spirit, are always unchanging. Styles, attitudes and opinions of man changes frequently. If nothing else, you must recognize that God is consistent. So is His message. Groups like the Mormons, like the Masons, from which Smith formed most of his ritual doctrine (like the silly handshakes, magical underwear, and hand gestures supposedly necessary to get into heaven), the Jehovah's Witnesses, and similar large cults all share common attributes. They were all started by a human being (usually, but in not all cases, a man), this person's word is literally taken as "the gospel truth," rules are established, ritual, ceremony and conduct created, then changed, as required by the fashionable opinions of the day.
    Forming a genuine and lasting relationship with Christ is, as so very many have said, the only genuine road to eternal salvation and ultimately, happiness. Large cults, with massive amounts of income, spend that money annually in the billions to promote their distinctive "takes" on who and what God is. They are all wrong. You'll find God in the first chapters of the book of John, in the Psalms, the Proverbs, and in your heart.
    Christ Himself warned that there would be wolves in sheep's clothing capable of leading even the elect away from the true, and only, God of the Universe. Joseph Smith, and his followers, are such men.
    Check out these videos by Mormon's who saw the literal "light," and left the LDS church when they recognized the fallacy of Joseph Smith's entire purpose:

      On the CONTRARY, "Essenceofthemahog," I was deeply involved with Jehovah's Witnesses for over a decade. I have EVERY publication they put out, spoke for humdreds of hours with members, and am still intelligent enough to realize (and have realized from the beginning) that the entire farce is a man-made cult, nothing more, nothing else.
      When I first got involved with the Watchtower Society, i was given a redacted Holy BIble, and was told it had been re-written by "the three smartest people in the world." That BS was enough to steer me in the right direction. I asked, "how do we know these were the 'smartest' people? Was it there SAT scores, MENSA membership maybe?" The answer, of course, is that the claim, like EVERY claim made by Watchtower adherents, is pure bull excrement.
      "Jesus wasn't involved in politics?" Really? What, exactly, do you think the whole episode of overturning the moneychangers tables in the temple was about? The moneychangers were politically affiliated with the Pharisees, the POLITICAL governing body of the local Jewish people. Jesus destroyed their set-up, decrying the fact that they'd turned God's place of worship into a marketplace of thieves - much like the modern churches and political halls of today.
      I have read, edited, and written a great many books over the last 45 years, many on these very topics. Your suggesting that i get my information from RUclips would be laughable if not so incredibly stupid.
      The bottom line is this, the Jehovah's Witnesses and the Mormons are cults who share the same manmade nonsense conjured up in upstate New York's "burned over district" in the early 19th-Century. There are LOTS of books written on the subject. Perhaps it's time YOU got off of RUclips, and visited a library or bookstore.
