For future reference......... Getting "stuck" in soft or wet ground happens to everyone sooner or later once you leave the bitumen. Going the route of "all terrains" is a step in the right direction.
NOT SPINNING THE WHEELS WILL HELP IMMENSELY. Once the wheels spin, you loose traction and just make your situation worse. Keep your foot OFF the accelerator, just let the clutch out slowly and let the engine do the work.
I recommend that you get yourself a pair of MAXTRAX Recovery tracks (No, I do not work for MAXTRAX nor am I sponsored by them, they are just a great product). DO NOT go the path of the cheaper brands, they are inferior and do not do the job and you will then have to replace them. Remember, BUY ONCE, CRY ONCE.
Letting air out of the tyres is a good start, but you need to let enough air out of the tyres so that they "bag out" and give you more contact area. With the tyres you have I am guessing that you are running them at somewhere around 32 to 36 psi for normal road use. You can easily deflate them to 16 psi safely to get yourself out of that situation, I would NOT suggest that you go any less than 12 psi. REMEMBER to re-inflate your tyres back to normal road pressures once you get on to hard ground.
As for RYOBI, I have heard that Ryobi is latin for sh*t. Again, Buy once, Cry once.
I would also suggest that you carry a long handled shovel in your van (again buy quality not price) they can be very useful in the situation you had and have many other uses as well (they can even be used to cook on).
Good luck with your adventures. Cheers.

For the pull out deck, remove the panel above it and you'll have easily accessible storage that you can pull out.

I actually came across a solution to the large drawer issue when looking at $1 million dollar overlanders. They use Magma cooking sets in their vehicles that take up less than 1/2 cubic foot of space, this way you could turn your 1 large draw into 2 smaller ones and have to dig less, it was something that was bugging me in all these van build videos as I hate digging for things and didn't want wasted space in my van when I get it. I guess the negative is that you have to pull apart the pot collection for the one's you want and put it back together rather than just throwing one pan or pot back in the cupboard. Camco also make a cheaper option, both sets work in ovens also, which I thought was a plus.

The opening scene, I feel your pain my Transiit got stuck and buried on flat wet grass and had to be pulled out. I'm very interested on how you fixed this issue and the approximate cost. My plan was to buy an all wheel drive but the wife says, "No".
My wife and I have a solution to storage (probably not a good one for some) but it's what we taught our kids, "If you need it - get it, if you can't get it - adapt, and if you can't adapt - learn to do without".
This is our third van build for camping. I have as much fun building them out as camping. This last van cost nothing to build out, except for the Bodega cooler and the mattresses. We used all scrap and reclaimed wood from my shop.
Thank you for sharing, I enjoy your videos.

Look into Nesting cook sets for better space utilization. I purchased mine before I sized or built any drawer storage. The handles on pots and pans are the big issue. A nesting set with multiple handles is golden.

I have a question about your windows. You called them Eurovision windows, here in the states, they have Arctic Tern windows that look identical. How is the clarity of the acrylic vs glass? Is that just something you have to comprise to get the cool awning style and built-in screen / shade features?

You need a probe to use on grass, sand, etc where you clearly are not on hard ground. Test it before you drive on to it. YOu dont need to change your van, you need to change your way of doing things. Never drine onto unknown ground that cannot be assessed at a glance, ie. concrete etc, always used a ground probe before you drive onto it.

Well, a few days ago I bogged my HiAce on grass. First time in decades of driving it's happened. But luckily help was not far away and a landcruiser pulled me out. Bless the CFS. This rain is not funny.
As for the electrical system placement, I don't think there's a perfect place, it does need access though and I have seen some underbed systems that look a horror to access. Jealous of your hot water🤔😀

    • @SALTYVANVENTURES

The floor space is approximately 3.4m long by 1.75m wide. When you utilise the full width of the bed by framing out the bed extents the bed is 1.93m wide at it's widest towards the front, narrower at the back towards the rear doors where the van contours narrow.
