  • One thing I have been dying to share with you is how I made the Scotch Moss Heart in the Secret Cottage Garden.
It is such a great element I added this year that everyone loves. In fact, I enjoy it so much I created another and made a video for you.
I am brainstorming other types of ground covers to create more in other garden areas around my home!

Enjoyed watching this video. Had to laugh at the man's comment about buying rocks. I live in the Rocky Mountains and rocks are the bane of my existence. There is a good reason that they are called the Rockies! They do have their uses, but it's hard to garden when you have them everywhere underground and above. Loved the heart idea!

I live in the Sierra Nevada mountains and properties can be very rocky here too, but I have amended mine so much that the rocks are all buried deep. That is what happens when you add compost all the time over 20 years. 😉

I just planted some and there were huge rocks just a few inches below

💚 Love this so much Pam 💚 You have inspired me to do this next year. The one side of our driveway is sloping and full sun so I was thinking of doing a letter B for our last name only I'd have to find a full sun solution. 💚 Thanks for sharing another wonderful garden DIY. 👍🏻

You can do it! A viewer suggested hens and chicks, which could work well too.

There are different colored varieties of hen & chicks that would work inside the heart and require minimal water.

Thank you. Great minds think alike, I was just eyeing my extra hens and chicks thinking they would be great in something like this.
