Right? I need to replace my seats but it's all the wiring to keep the heated and electrical parts intact and without tripping codes or airbag that I dont want to even try
@@davej.6290 yeah but there's also the heated seats and lumbar and stuff. Wiring and coding is one of those things I'll never understand 😅 it's partly why I haven't done a mk6 interior upgrade
Great video Charles, as someone whos been working on cars for the past 20+ years, wiring isn't difficult it's just tedious work where you actually have to pay attention and it's time consuming.
I have to admit I was a bit frustrated after watching the full build video not being able to actually see what you built. Thank you for doing the walk around!! Absolutely beautiful
Looking forward to which coilovers you settle on. Appreciate you taking one for the team to show us why air ride is just for looks / slamming. Most looking forward to hearing this thing more…
Fantastic build overall, paint matching the engine cover was a nice touch. Regarding the airbags, the only way I think you're going to be able to give them a fair shake is if you swap them out for a set thats more appropriate for the ride height you want because of them being super lows. But the problem then becomes, to do that is probably going to cost close to what a decent set of coilovers would cost for something you're not sure if you'd like.
I have a MK2 Montana green with a Vr6 swap that’s been out of commission since 08. 😢 I’m hoping one day I can get it back running. One of the cylinders has bad compression. Unfortunately life came at me, got married bought a house, had kids…. My wife wants me to fix it, but I have more important things right now. Love your videos. It gives me hope one day.
Not just VW nerd. As a controls/electrical engineer using Bosch ECU’s I’m always interested in seeing how others do their diagrams. Thats the nerd part at its core. Excellent build hope to see more.
can't wait for the wiring video, i love that kind of modification, on a smaller scale, I swapped door modules on my 2005 Touran, to get folding mirrors, that required a complete rewire of door harness, and then I discovered that the new modules from a Tiguan have a input for trunk pop, and now I have if not the only one, then one of few, with trunk open button in the drivers door, all controlled via bus
I think I’m literally the guy at Witw that asked you to air it out😂😂. Hope you come around on the air ride. I still think over 60 psi is too much. I run 50 in the front and 47 psi in the rear and I shred the dragon.
I'm glad I got to see the DAZA swapped R in person at AVF. The car looks amazing, especially with the body kit. Trully a cool experience and I can't wait for next year.
Dude, air ride is a science for sure. My 2015 Passat had an Airlift Performance setup. It was DIALED. But it took a minute to get it there. After everything was settled, it was a great daily. Though, it did eat top bushings like nobody’s business (like every 15k miles)
Charles, the bag is your only height adjustment. Adjusting the shock length only determines where the piston is in the damper body at ride height, which you should set so it has ⅔ to ½ it's total travel left to compress at your regular driving height. If it's too close to the top or bottom of its travel, it's going to make it ride like slammed racelands. This is true for fully threaded coilovers like BCs and K Sports too. The spring sets your height and the body adjustment sets the piston position in the damper at that height. This was straight from the head of KW's Motorsport division on an episode of HP Academy's podcast.
I love this build and Golf. Honestly the body kit and colour, just makes it so visually pleasing too, the box arches harking back to the original UR quattro we all love. I respect the vision you had for this truly epic machine. If VW had made this I would whole heartedly of had it over the mk3 TTRS. 👌
I think when you two both get together and make a video about anything that is just hilarious and I want to see more we all need to see more. You're welcome to swap in a VR6 into my S10 just make it look nice.
Charles how bout doing a awd swap in a new beetle i know vw did the vr6 awd limited edition but it would be interesting if an awd engine swap from a TT or rs3 would fit then it would be turbo'd would either of these option work in a beetle? love the golf build mate cheers from down under
What machine, this is right up our alley 👌👊. Modern air ride is far better these days. Dont get me wrong for flat out performance a professional spec coilover set is still boss. For an all rounder you like to use on the road modern air is a game changer
We need secondary battery i stalation video. How to do it the right way, so animal repellers (ultrasonic or visual) can run all the time when car is parket. Or dashcams are running. So how to correctly charge second battery loop and protect it from draining main battery. Thanks for videos!
Really good on the DAZA swap. Been following it since Paul installation option but unfortunately not available here. Also want to see how to code that ABS and ACC working back on the car. Loves the series and all came before it. Keep it up Charles.
Charles, you are the best! Thank you for building this amazing machine and sharing!!! Cheers to you sir! Now, let's talk about that ending, LMAO!!!!!!!!!
Love this build, attention to detail and functionality is spot on. I thought i did well a few years ago making early mk4 leather recaros fit a late mk4 by converting the plug set up to look oem no cuts.. your plug and play harness for the rs3 seats was a work of genius 😁
I had air ride on my VW scirocco but swapped it back to coils after 3 weeks. I tried every setting there was on it and it still drove like it had no shocks. At some point it was so bad the inside mirror felt down because of vibrations on the highway 😂
After using Ceratec in my 7R, I noticed some non-magnetic metallic flake in my oil. I haven't had this on the previous changes, so I'm gonna pass on ever using an additive again. Oil additives can harm the additive package in the oil and dilute the additive package as you're using less volume of oil.
May need to space the airbags at the rear for perfection, "fronts are air bag overs" so they worked with adjustment. Rears the bags are separate I believe?
I was just about to make fun of your Fast and Furious Purple Lighting until I remembered that a thousand years ago in Dec of 1982, I graduated college and in Jan 83, I started working as an Engineer, as a car guy, all the way through college I collected and bought parts to build my Baja Bug. By Easter all the assembly and the Paint was completed, and I brought the Baja Bug home from the High School Shop where it had been painted. I wanted a green glow under the car, so I went to the truck stop and bought all these green clearance lights and I mounted them under the Baja Bug. It didn't work out quite as good as I hoped, I was maybe 20-30 years away being able to buy LED lights that would have actually worked! Nice Project !!!!
for the RS 3 and TT RS bevel box there are special instructions from Audi to fill it till oil leaks out the fill hole and then suck out 100ml of oil but it excludes the RSQ3 wich has the same drive train :)
Charles, I've been watching your channel since day one, and to see how far you've come has been incredible. I'm so happy for you and your family and I hope you continue to be successful in the future. Also if you have any advice on how to get my wife onboard with spending all that money for the mk7 folding mirrors upgrade I'd greatly appreciate it 🤣
Hahaha I got you! “Honey you know how much I care about you and the family. I’ve found a feature I can add to my car to be sure it’s safe and secure. Not only that greatly reduce the odds of someone hitting my cars mirrors” Boom! 🤣
SuperSpeed RF05RR or RF06RR has my vote. I have 17x8 RF06RR on my GTI and they look amazing. Helped improve the ride quality a bit too thanks to meaty sidewalls despite running Bilstein B14 coilovers. Apex Wheels are great as well but they weren't available when I bought my SuperSpeed. Both regularly go on sale.
It’s a fantastic looking car, excellent set up. YES! Do the Atlas, I just picked a Cross Sport and it’s fantastic! 2021, S w, 4 motion it has Wildpeak AT and looks like an over lander, drives great and I have owned Touareg so I know what nice driving is.
Dq250 used to be like that dq500. For the rd3 oil filter housing you don’t need special tool for drain the housing cap. Just push the pin with screw driver and put to the side. Stays open and drain the filter before remove it.
The replacements seats is what I want to do to refresh my 2019 in the future. Problem is finding front seats that havent blown the airbags... Awesome build!
For the air ride, you probably have to go with a quality oem style shock/airbag like the Touareg’s had or testlas have, to have that happy Charles suspension
Looks awesome! I’m not a car guy. I’m way too cheap and I’m happy with my old decent cars that are kept well that are functional. I love this channel though and gears and gasoline and other RUclips car channels. Now I bought a 2005 sequoia and am underneath getting the frame all clean and will paint it. I’ll touch up the paint and make it looks as nice and clean as possible. OMG! You’re turning me into a car guy! 😂😂😂
Just like any suspension, air ride has the potential of being great when good components are used and properly setup. While it might not quite match the handling of very high-end coil overs, the flexibility is valuable on a vehicle that is driven on the street in a variety of conditions. Part of air ride's problem is aftermarket systems are marketed towards people that value the ability to go as low as possible, and not necessarily ride or handling.
I would love to put the under glow led lights as you called them on my 2000 Camry LE 4 cylinder. I've put Sylvania Super Bright Zevo Led lights almost all the way around the Camry. My headlight led lights are Oracle Lighting V series. These led lights have no fan. The only thing I haven't done yet is the dashboard clutter, console light, and glovebox. These are the things I can't change they are the clock, hazard light, cigarette lighter, and light in master switch on driver side door. I want to put a Magnaflow muffler system exhaust on the Camry. But just for tone not loudness. I also have a cool stereo radio and speaker system that I like very much. There are repairs that have to be done also.
I have been debating doing a Golf R swap into my 2013 Tiguan. These videos have me thinking hard about trying to find a wrecked RS3 instead. IMHO, would be a better sleeper than the Atlas swap Charles mentioned.
I'm sure you have had great success with this project and there will be many VW/Audi enthusiasts who will be interested in duplicating this/your platform. Sharing the wiring diagrams is very helpful and generous of you, but you left out and have not mentioned ONE crucial step: ODIS. Most DIY / home enthusiasts do not have access to vw/audi servers, Paul does. And that is very convenient for you. VCDS or OBDeleven is not going to help here. This should be confirmed before a project like this is even started.
Love this vid mate the whole breakdown is great, I think an atlas/ tiguan/allspace daza swap would be amazing. Would be a perfect family wagon but on bags, of course. 😂
Please please Finnish the black r32!!! We’ve been waiting sooo long for it to be finnished, I’m so invested to see How it turns out 😂 love all your vids to!
I love how you Pray to the Elsa Gods under the Golf attention to detail is excellent , the spill dance gets me every time . I also see your sticking with the Rsr theme too 👌😜👍
Adjusting the rear shocks won’t really affect ride height, unlike the front. If you want the rear to ride higher at a lower PSI, you’ll need to put a space between the bag and the body of the car. Adjusting the rear shock really only affects how low the car sits when you air out (because the shock bottoms out). Also, single bellow bags like these don’t allow for a ton of adjustability compared to a double bellow bag. Great build, keep it up!!
Rotiform LAS-R. Never see them on Golfs but I put them on my MK7 R and they are as perfect as I could imagine. Nice semi rally/semi fancy boi look. Stock suspension and no body modifications, but I don't see the need until I get nice coilie bois. Can send pics if you're intrigued.
if you use a flat head screw driver in the bottom of the oil filter housing it drains just push up and to the side and it will flow out then remove it after
The RS3 seat swap makes me want to go start working on putting C6 S6 seats in my C5 tonight. I need to print out the diagrams because I hate flipping back and forth on the screen.
Good Day, great video series on the RS3 engine swap, after watching your Engine swap my boss ask me to do the same to one of his Golf R 2017, only thing a don’t have time is the electrical and you offered to share your work and also your seat wiring plug in modifications, we will have a full donor car. With a Golf R 2017, up to what years the RS3 year we should go with?
Hey, interested in the wiring diagram for the seats as i have a bit of confusion regarding what to do for the PODS. I downloaded both wiring diagrams from Erwin, and see that there are 2 wires running from the seat--> chassis connector to the PODS module for the RS3, and then 2 wires from the PODS to the pressure sensor, but 4 running from the seat --> chassis connector to the PODS Module on the golf r, and then 3 from the sensor to the pods module
I think the issue with the air ride is using the bag riders super low kit. There isnt enough shock travel at the ride height you drive the vehicle at. A normal air lift performance series kit would have worked better and you could run much less bag pressure and dial in the dampening further.
19x8.5 Rohana RFX11 Brushed Bronze (Cross Forged) 5x112 et 35mm. I run them on my mk 7.5 r with rs3 front brake setup without spacer. You can try them.
IM NOT COMING TO INSTALL ANYTHING!!
so you say
Please I’ll buy pizza and beer for help with my suspension
Do I have to pay shipping fee if I need him to be exported out of america or the fee is baked?
Scam
Not even for 69k$ LoL!
Does this guy ever miss. Every. Single. Video. not only entertaining but informative. Thank you Charles keep it up.

I Laughed so loud my son was staring at me

You're a diligent man rewiring the RS3 seats. I'd be afraid to accidentally trigger the side air bag.
Right? I need to replace my seats but it's all the wiring to keep the heated and electrical parts intact and without tripping codes or airbag that I dont want to even try
Sideairbag is the yellow plug - not much you can do wrong here.

I won't do it. Seen too many break from doing that. LOL Id rather clean the mess.(or really just pay closer attention and not make the mess HA)
For simple looking wheels i like advan gt. The rays g025 is pretty slick too. RIDs if you wanna go full baller
My local dealership couldn't find my sunroof drains, and that includes the shop foreman. Can we get a mk8 sunroof drains clean how to please?
I think the issue with the air ride is using the bag riders super low kit. There isnt enough shock travel at the ride height you drive the vehicle at. A normal air lift performance series kit would have worked better and you could run much less bag pressure and dial in the dampening further.
I'm super excited for the wiring video!
Loved it!! Great series really enjoyed. Makes wanna do my own!!
Beautiful work mate you're awesome cheers from Greece !
Charles is back!.. you ask about the wheel choices. What happened to the Audi wheels ? Is it just not possible?
They didn’t fit right I sold them
Humble mechanic video😌
I like the RS3 shelf unit in the back
19x8.5 Rohana RFX11 Brushed Bronze (Cross Forged) 5x112 et 35mm. I run them on my mk 7.5 r with rs3 front brake setup without spacer. You can try them.
That haldex goo is in fact the brushes from the motor. They've supposedly fixed this on the latest generation.
Late model ZF automatics have the same fill process and procedure to verify fill level.
Really looking forward to the wiring video. That's one area I'm really hestitant to approach.
Gently touching tips, love it.
That hot dog slap was next level bro..😂😂😂😂😂😂
