I feel you. It’s never a good look to badmouth someone who’s passed away, especially someone who helped you out. But at the same time, maybe there’s more to the story? Sometimes unresolved anger can make people say things they regret.
You know something I find funny about stories like this no one ever holds the person who wrote the story accountable for their stupidity, bro missed every red flag
@Monster_Rancher Which adequate communication would have revealed long before wasting money on marriage arrangements. In fairness though, love is blind and experience the harshest teacher.
Good for the OP. Talk about a truly vile family. Mocking and denigrating a dead woman. A woman who had helped them so much. I hope the business contacts that were at the dinner spread the facts of how they behaved far and wide. Going forward pay attention to the red flags, especially ones visible from the space station.
Any and all negative comments about a parent you know to be a good and giving person is not just a red flag but a breakup point. Condescending should never be accepted.
Lydia's parents arent shit. OP did not just dodge a bullet; he dodged a couple of bullets. You DO NOT insult someone who helped you at your lowest ESPECIALLY if they aren't here to defend themselves.
A lot of that was his own fault. If he would have put a stop to it, immediately, instead of tolerating all the disrespected directed towards him, his family and especially towards his mother, a lot of this wouldn't have happened.
That family was probably feeling inferior to his mom. It didn’t stop them from accepting her money, though. Now that she is gone, they get to pretend they are more important than they actually are.
You should have asked yourself a long time ago why the "princess" was marrying "beneath her", according to her parents. Because nobody in their "high end circle" would put up with that BS.
Jack and Donna were teaching Lydia to use people, and since Michael's mother had been able to help them monetarily so many times, they were probably hoping for all the lovely money they were sure existed to be come theirs.
I would have gone with the original scenario. It was 1 year. Patricia saved there business. She saved there home. The preamble was all covered in the speech OP gave in the other story.. It led to little or no chance for rebuttal. Also he had a bunch of relatives there who all walked out together leaving the in laws totally humiliated.
Erm, she can actually contact him, by using different phone numbers, emails, letters and those websites where ppl can send SMS, unless op changed his number, email and moved home. Lol
I don't get it, how do these relationships even get to the marrying stage they sound awful from the start, are all these people just doormats? I genuinely do not understand
Her family are loud, opinionated and want to be the centre of attention. *Me:* Wow, nit even in the drama yet and these already sound like insufferable people.
Why was the locket given to Op, a son, when the locket was supposed to be passed down to a daughter, meaning Op's sister? Why would the mother tell Op, "one day, you'll know the right person to give this to", when the locket is clearly supposed to go to blood family, like Op's sister and her future daughter? And why did Op have all those keepsakes from the mother? It's as if Chat GPT forgot that Op has a sister. Then,, after calling and asking for the locket back, he goes to Donna's house to get it back, Donna gets it for him, and then she goes up the stairs and magically morphs into Lydia as she comes down the stairs..
It doesn't say it anywhere but maybe she's a half sister? Same dad different mom? 🤔 because if im at a dinner even just as a guest, if someone insults my mama, Im going to speak up and say something regardless of how socially acceptable it is or not. And it makes you wonder if she had the same mom as op why didn't she speak up too or in the first place when all this started going down? Just saying 🤷♀️.
I hate to say it but I read a version of this story not too long ago. It was so much better than this one. He gives a speech that's really emotional and yet to the point. You added all this unnecessary dialog and sideshows . You actually sorta ruined it. If you can read the other version it was out like a week ago. See what you did wrong
I hate to say this, but in a way doesn’t this prove that his mom‘s attitude was completely wrong? Here she gave money to this horrible couple, cosign their loan, etc., etc. and once she passed away, what do they do? They poop all over her memory. And her son ends up breaking up the engagement with the daughter. So what you demonstrated actually was that being kind and generous to the wrong people doesn’t pay. They’ll just find a way to resent and hate you. In the end, she gave money she could’ve given to her son to these people. For nothing.
I'm sorry but any normal person would be pushing harder on why her parents were controlling everything when it's their day not her parent's and why they invited people they wanted from work to a rehearsal dinner when it had nothing to do with them

This is why if an ex has to go to the bathroom and place that you're staying and you have something important that you do not let them go to the bathroom. I don't care how much they say they're going to ship themselves it's common sense that oh I got to go to the bathroom do you mind if I go but she's not going to the bathroom come on I saw this coming a mile away how the hell do people not see this kind of s*** from a mile away
That's a new low.....badmouthing a dead person, making fun of her who co-signed a loan with you for your business .....pathetic
So why was this high class family taking money and help from a low class woman? And why weren’t they using their restaurant?
"badmouthing" are you a child?
I feel you. It’s never a good look to badmouth someone who’s passed away, especially someone who helped you out. But at the same time, maybe there’s more to the story? Sometimes unresolved anger can make people say things they regret.
a lesson in how to ignore red flags. this isn't just a rehearsal dinner. it's a rehearsal for the rest of your life
You know something I find funny about stories like this no one ever holds the person who wrote the story accountable for their stupidity, bro missed every red flag
And held his tongue for way too long. Grow some balls.
Yeah, that’s because most of these stories are made up by AI or some teenagers just like this one I suspect
"This incident should've been a huge red flag" EVERYTHING should've been red flag, mane.

This is how a lack of communication destroys relationships. Don't swallow your issues, confront them before they explode.
a lack of communication and being a psychopath with a family of psychopaths, run far away.
@Monster_Rancher Which adequate communication would have revealed long before wasting money on marriage arrangements. In fairness though, love is blind and experience the harshest teacher.
Thank you for listening to your viewers. I have been loving the stories recently!! No pity party! Love it!!!
Jack and Donna are ungrateful people.
If it wasn't for OP mom, they would have nothing 😡

Truly HEARTLESS story OMG....The OP should make those monsters pay for what they done, but at the end of the day IS IT WORTHY WASTING ENERGY on them?
Any and all negative comments about a parent you know to be a good and giving person is not just a red flag but a breakup point. Condescending should never be accepted.

Taking something without asking is called stealing not borrowing

You’re not wrong for standing up for your late mother 💔
Damn bro, how many times can you “swallow your pride”, for the sake of an argument? He should have said something LONG ago.
NTA, they crossed a line and disrespected your mom 💔
damn seems like the daughter has TWICE the audacity of her parents 😂
Damn... she´s not even my fiancee, but I want to cancel the marriage with her
You should have asked yourself a long time ago why the "princess" was marrying "beneath her", according to her parents. Because nobody in their "high end circle" would put up with that BS.

that's definitely a deal breaker for me bro you didn't just dodge a bullet you dodged the entire 🔥ing squad
Sooooo…..Lydia’s parents think OP is beneath them socially but it was OP’s Mom who had the money to bails them out? Hmmm, how does that work out?
Imagine talking about social circle but we’re fine acting like beggars looking for handouts to bail them out
Never ever loan family or famliy to be money unless you are willing to risk losing that money and relationship.
You just gotta love doormat OPs.

A real Lydia is sworn to carry your burdens

This OP has no spine
Accept and you are always accepting
IT would be simple......Tell security they need back up, it's gonna get ugly.

You deserve what you tolerate. OP was a doormat for too long. This should have been stopped and the relationship ended so much more soon.
Why would she take the locket ?! So bizarre.
Op took to long to find a backbone!

never let anything slide always speak up
OPs a doormat good god
Bra ain't no way😢
So OPs father & sister were there and didnt say a word during the speech .
Nah im telling you I was shaking with anger hering this story man 😡😡😡😡

The locket thing was just stupid and came up with zero transition from the previous scene
Good story.
this was chinese rich family
