Here's a thought, the Nerd and Board James are parallel to eachother (as stated in the video), however the reason the Nerd isn't homicidal is because he releases his anger, while Board James bottles it up until its breaks loose and results in a cinematic massacre... Or a... Cinemassacre, perhaps?

When this season came out, I was showing it to all my friends and family. Amazing acting, amazing everything, you could see the excitement and love in Jame's every scene. Best thing he has done on the web bar none. "Nightmare and beyond" has barely over a million views. Screw you guys.
Board James was just as fun to produce as it was to view, I'm sure.

I really appreciate the explanation behind the videography here. It sometimes is easy to forget just how much work goes into stuff like this. Film really is a work of art. Especially when this much effort and talent is involved.

This was a real treat to watch. I always love seeing the behind the scenes stuff and learning about your creative process. That bridge scene was fantastic. All the hard work really pays off.

I saw the episode I was floored by how much he worked out in terms of storytelling you can see and understand what is happening but ts like this meta storytelling that impressed me. To this day this is the best thing James has written.

Every single time I watch a video explaining what goes into a Cinemassacre video, it just blows my mind clear into space.
I like them all. But the AVGN will always and forever be the original classic. I want to meet james one day since he was pretty much the reason I began youtube

I always imagined that Board James was an alternate version of the Nerd, who came from like, fuck I don't know, the Goldstein Bears universe, where everything is so different that the same people may not even seem the same.
I love James and crew. They have a unique style of making small youtube videos turn into small indie productions. Ill love James and crew till the day I die. When I have a gf and/or kids in the future Im gonna make sure they watch all of his content. I can't let something this amazing get lost in history. With so many videos on youtube history should remember the real gems.

The progression of this series has been great. The build up and pushing things further every episode. Very solid work Cinemassacre. The passion really came through on these.

I've watched the Board James series since it started and I loved the whole thing. The growth of the story and the tools you have to work with is amazing. Always excited to see what's next. :)

Man I so want more board James, i liked the quirky boardgame reviews and the more spooky elements, but I like how subdued they are in the majority, like how dream phone was, where it started off simple and went into the spooky bits later on, gave the best of both worlds
Board James season 2 just may be my favorite Cinemassacre thing ever. Really cool to see how much thought and effort was put into it, and it really shows.
I love these behind-the-scenes videos just as much as the actual videos because of how dedicated James is to his projects.
I like these behind the scenes movies. They really show much effort and attention to details James and his companions put into just a 10 minute videos.
I'd have to say that at the time this was his best work on the web, but his Polybius video is probably his best today.

I like these videos as much as the productions themselves, in part because I'm interested in film production but because I see a lot of useless comment online, people saying, yeah, I could do that, all you need is a video editing suite and a camera, I always think, nope, there's A LOT of work involved in these and its just that the Cinemassacre guys are talented that they make it seem easy, these kind of accompany videos explain it all. Great stuff.
I'm honestly just amazed by all of this. The storytelling, plot twists, work, organization, talent... just everything. Shows so much dedication to your art! And the result is entertaining as fuck.

Good video, i love the behind the scenes featurettes you guys do. Keep up the amazing work and dont ever stop being a film maker. Personally i would love to see more Board James but as you concluded season 3 with how involved that final episode was, i am happy we got what we did. The Nerd is always your front running character, but as you said in the megaman episode “if you do the same thing all the time, people will get bored...but every once in awhile, its good to bring it back”. Whatever you do, I will always enjoy the content you bring out!
I really hope board james comes back even if just a couple times a year it is definitely some of james best work and if he does another feature film I personally would want it to be board james
I hope mike see’s this comment, but I binged watched every episode over a couple of days (having never seen them before) and thought exactly what you were saying. I was like ‘ooo mouse trap this is cool’ then it went to some cool old games.....then mr bucket came around and I assumed it was Halloween....then dream phone and I was like ‘what the fuck is going here’ amazing series, well done!

I didn't realize the enormous production behind those board james episodes before this documentary. Spectacular! a truely devoted team doing what they like.
I gotta say, he was passionate about this series and I think it's amazing how much dedication went into board james. Even though we're never gonna get anymore board james episodes, I think it ended off strong. Hope to see what other projects they'll have in the future

I actually did just watch this series beginning to end a few months ago. I foolishly never delved into board james because I wasn't into board games, but man was I missing out. I found the earlier episodes interesting, james was always good at making the games come alive, but it was only by Dream Phone that I was totally hooked. It was the Mr Bucket episode on steroids, an interesting game with a well shot montage, that suddenly devolves into indie horror. You somehow made a fucking phone holding a knife scary, and that is incredible.
Season 3 was a perfect mix of horror and board games, I was never once bored watching it. That final episode is also a work of art, surreal, over the top and utterly enthralling. I only discovered this series a few months ago, but ive watched both dream phone and nightmare a total of four times and every time i'm totally hooked.
From my very fresh perspective, Board James was amazing and I'd love to see more. The Nerd renaissance is great, but having a board james episode here and there would work great to mix things up. Whatever you end up doing, I can't wait to see more of james' work in the future, cinemassacre now to the end of time!
I really like Board James. The ideas and creativity that flows into the episodes and of course the whole story arc is simply loveable. Although personally i watch every episode with quite a grain of salt. Since it's been o so many years i've been able to play board games. None is really interested. Which is so shameful, there are so many fantastic board games...
Anyway, i especially like the collaboration with Mr. Castner and Mr. Matei as themselves. Thank you very much for so many hours of enjoyment.
For me, i feel way more conected to Board James as to the Nerd. (Of course i love him, platonicly) But i did not have any sort of console growing up. But i played a lot of board games. Very few of the shown but in general, lots and lots of them. Oh the memories.

I was very impressed by the Mr Bucket episode : i loved how you took something so innocent and build a truly spooky atmosphere around it, while still adding ball sucking jokes over it. One of your masterpieces in my opinion.
