    Noticed that almost every channel I like from Maine, loves tarps. Unofficial building material of ME? We don't see it much in TX because the wind destroys them so fast. Hope the ladies do well this winter! -Jim

      If we weren’t on the verge of snow we’d still be building but some of us don’t have the luxury of still having it hot outside!!😂🤣 Then again we couldn’t handle the heat you get!🥵 This being our first winter with the girls we are doing what we can to help them out. Hoping we have done enough for them! Have a great night! 😊

      Hi Pam!!
      It is a lot of work but we want to keep the girls happy and healthy. If you were off grid we would have quite an interesting story!😉 I think the girls have their hands full with Rex. 😂 As for where we were sitting…you will have to watch the next video. 🤫
      Stay safe and God bless!♥️🙏♥️

    Rub Vaseline on the roosters comb and the feet of the birds. Any bare areas as helps prevent frost/ cold burn when temperatures drop

      @@anniejefferson7329 We’ve been on a list for a chip drop for 2+yrs! lol I don’t think the firm we signed up with comes this far north. We plan to add more bedding and straw to their run. 😊

      The rooster, he is really working the girls over. You can cage him by himself OR put the jackets on ALL the girls so everyone has one. They will get used to it.

    • @HensOnly
      @HensOnly Месяц назад +1

      And check the roo's spurs, making sure they are not sharp. Dremel the spurs if they got sharp long points on them.

      @HanbleceyaRanch  Месяц назад +1

      Winter is coming! We felt terrible with the jackets. They were all terrified and poor Shirley was attacked several times. We have thought about caging Rex but we will have to keep a close eye on the weather. It’s been getting pretty cold at night. Winds are horrible today. We have been watching his spurs. They are not sharp but we would grind them down if needed. Thanks for the tips!

      @@HanbleceyaRanch It's normal for the girls to be terrified because it is something new for them. After a few days, they will be okay!

    loved the whos the boss sign...ya aught to do a "honey-do-list" video...lol...todays weather was nuts, started as a sunny balmy 47 degrees and nice being out at 3am, but that changed fast to cold brisk wind, needing a beenie cap and hoodie by 10am, with that smell of snow, from deep gray clouds. coop lookin good, got a chuckle from rooster trying to get a few more oats out before the season ends.

      Like the video idea!! But that video would be awful long!🤣 This weather was crazy today. That wind is no joke. It’s still pretty brutal out there. Stay warm and have a great night! 😊

    Love your channel! I hope you don't have a Stoat come near your property, believe me, they'll find a way into a coop anyway they can. Are you anywhere around Aroostook County? I have a place near Oakfield and absolutely love it. Keep your content coming! Thank you! ❤

      Hi! So glad you love the channel!! We have our stoat traps out to keep the chickens safe. Between that and the dogs we are hoping they are good!! We are in the Houlton area. We actually will be in Oakfield on the 23rd for a craft fair!! Maybe you could stop by and see us!! Thanks so much for watching and your support!♥️

    Gonna have to be diligent with the snow on those tarps and and plastic as you know but hopefully it keeps the girls happy through the winter ! My suggestion would be a younger smaller rooster. Maybe younger and smaller might help. Certainly wouldn’t help the desire having been a younger rooster myself way back when but he’s a center or nose guard climbing on cheerleaders lol. Take care Jason

      We know all about cleaning tarps, canopies and plastic. It’s not ideal but it’s just for this winter. Some projects took longer than planned so this is one project that got bumped to next year. Rex is a big boy and some of those girls look pretty tiny next to him. We will have to see! Take care! 👍

    Only real solution is more hens.. he will calm down a bit over winter but not enough. And caging him once it cold may be the death of him. Huddling is there biggest protection against the crazy cold nights.
    If you would like a couple more hens, I have some 2-3 year olds that are cold hardy and still laying

    • @HanbleceyaRanch
