Ep. 2 - Preparation for Wetlander on Riveted Jon Boat

Episode 2 of 3 - Preparing the jon boat for the Wetlander Bottom Coating.
The Wetlander Slick Bottom Coating is a boat hull paint/coating that makes the underside of the boat slippery. This helps boats slide over vegetation and land a lot easier.
So to get the jon boat ready for the Wetlander, I needed to sand it down. Some instructions said 400 grit while some said 120, so I went with 220 grit to split the difference.
I had a few spots on the bottom of the hull that had worn through the original Wetlander coating. I also had one weird spot that did not get good adhesion that was chipping up fairly easily. I did not want to put the new coat of Wetlander over this and just have it chip back up, so I continued to chip that one spot till it would no longer chip...chip.
After all that chipping, I started sanding. Just made sure to rough everything up and get it ready to accept the new Wetlander coating. I used a simple sander - amzn.to/36hKbws with 220 grit.
Sanding was done, then I wiped it down with a damp cloth. Let it dry, then used some blue tape and got my paint lines laid out. FYI tape does NOT stick to Wetlander...
Got the paint lines taped out, and then we are ready for paint!

Yeah, I took the motor off my boat and was able to flip it with the deck and the floor still in it. Good thing about having a light rig haha
