We really need to congratulate Wells and Thawne in this one. Thawne has shown that no matter who they focus on in that season, you can't do shit without a Wells on your team. Also, holy SHIT! Thawne has been running season 5 the whole damn time and Ralph was on his ass but he was told to focus on Cicada. Then Sherloque comes in the clutch while Ralph is in the med bay and brings everything together. This episode really showcased the detective work of Ralph and Sherloque as well as showcasing how Thawne is the greatest supervillian Team Flash will ever face.
Sherloque could've mentioned that destroying the dagger wouldn't just affect Thawne, but that it would create a new timeline that Nora would no longer exist in....
What infuriates me the most is she actually sounds surprised when she says “everything you said about Thawne is true” as if Barry has not been dealing with him and go up against him for years on end.
Unfortunately, if Barry did not destroy the dagger, not only will he still have 5 years left before he vanishes in the original Crisis of 2024, but Nora wouldn't have been erased from existence. But because Barry did destroy the dagger, the timeline completely changed. Not only did Barry only had less than a year left instead of the 5 years before he vanishes, but Nora was now erased from existence. Mind blown!!
My head canon is that Crisis is a fixed event that happens 5 yrs after Barry becomes The Flash...when Thawne created The Flash 5 yrs early. That also made Crisis happen early.
Destroying the dagger didn’t erase Nora because Cicada has a younger version of herself that took the meta cure and that is what gets Nora erased from the timeline because her and cicada were mentally connected

Sometimes heroes make things too complicated. Clearly they used the dagger in the future to stop Thawne, meaning that they was some point where they were defeated Cicada and captured the dagger. Why are they so hell bent on destroying it now, just figure out how they captured it in the future.
Answer Cicada 2. If Nora had known about the dagger being glued to Thawne's chest. She never would have done it. What happened is that Orlin Dwyer, the original Cicada disappeared at some point before he was captured but his niece Grace reappeared several years later with the same power set. Since Nora was never a formal member of Team Flash and she created a new timeline altogether she never knew any of this, let alone that the dagger was the source of the original Cicada's powers.

Eobard's plan in Season 5 was basically this: He sent Nora back in time to destroy the STAR Labs satellite which would create a new Cicada that could be defeated by destroying the dagger which was what was keeping Reverse-Flash in prison in the future!!!!

The way that was handled annoyed me a lot. Of course, they’re allowed to be relieved that Iris didn’t die, but someone had to die in her place for that to happen. It wasn’t a win, it was still a huge tragedy.

This…this is why I don’t like Nora. She’s lived her whole life knowing that the Reverse Flash is Flash’s greatest enemy, that he was a villain. Then she learned what he did to Barry, her own father. But in the end, she trusted Thawne the entire time, a guy who’s literally mortal enemies with her father. Why would she ever believe that he would help his mortal enemy? Or that he wasn’t also helping himself in the process? And everyone shamed and blamed Barry for not trusting Nora just because Nora is his daughter. I mean, brilliant move on Thawne’s part to have someone Team Flash just can’t say no to, but it bothered me that no one thought Barry was right until this moment.
