- A Marine has been arrested in connection to a fatal downtown shooting that killed a 34-year-old Army veteran, according to the Orlando Police Department.

This is truly heartbreaking and I cannot imagine the pain that victims family is going through. I pray that God gives this family strength and peace as they try to navigate this traumatic and awful tragedy.
Don’t get into ego battles people. He should have been able to walk down the street but when you see a group doing that, they are obviously trying to bait you or someone else into a confrontation. Don’t stoop to their level. Just walk around them and pretend they don’t exist. Then you go back to your loving family and they go back to the dump they live in.

I’ve personally experienced incidents like this a few times, where a group of them standing on the street and they refuse to let anyone walk pass them. Even if I said Excuse me. They act like they owned the streets. It’s disgusting. They want the world to think they are tough and bad but clearly they are cowards. I hope he receive the most severe sentence.
I think the way he saw the group of men standing there, and decided to take a drink from his cup and continue to walk blindly at the group is what pissed the "Marine" off. While it's no excuse whats so ever, (and especially from a service member) I think this is what lead to him actually stopping him. If he had walked up and said "excuse me, excuse me, my bad" and payed attention I think it may have been a different situation.

There are no words for this! Every year on that little girl‘s birthday she is going to be reminded of the vicious cruel nonsensical killing of her dad! There is no hope for our society!
My best friend’s grandpa died on her birthday and she is a mess (it was her father figure) near her bday and a bit after. And her grandma doesn’t helped either (blames her, telling her she took him away, so wrong). So for the past 20 plus years, her family grieves the grandpa. She got better after she opened up to me and I told her that I am pretty sure her grandpa would not be okay with her suffering since he loved her so much. How he would like for her to celebrate her birthday and maybe he wanted to have one last birthday with her, and for her to feel as bad as she does, then he was an incredible man. Not to grieve his death anymore but to celebrate the day of his birthday. It helped a bit😢🥺

I grew up in Fayetteville, NC an Army dependant. Dad was career Army. Military unfortunately is not immune to criminal acts. Even as a young kid like 15 or 16 I got into at least two fights with adult soldiers being aggressive over my relatively long hair in the 70s. Also in 1992 I was in the Navy myself but home on leave in Fayetteville. Of course my hair was short then. But that time on leave I was leaving a bar alone. I was targeted and robbed and beaten pretty brutally by 6 men. They lifted my wallet. I had to go to the hospital and a police report was filed. Couldn't beleive it a few days later they were caught. Turns out every one of them was in the Army. The only way they got caught was because they were bragging about it on post in the barracks. Someone overheard them and turned them in to MPs then they all ratted each other out. They were all discharged from Army on bad conduct discharges and convicted in civilian court and sentenced to about a year and a half each in prison for common law robbery.
To brag about beating up a lone guy that just came out of a bar, as a group of 6... They must really be pathetic.

Oddly enough the bar I was leaving was called the Flaming Mug. So essentially I got mugged coming out of the Mug. The flaming mug was a pretty historic bar in Fayetteville all through the 70s, 80s, 90s. I left Fayetteville when I joined the Navy in 82 but every time I came home on leave I always went there because I would always count on meeting old friends and classmates there. They had great live bands etc.

@@Sidewinder528 No thats not the case. It happened to be Army payday. They thought I was in tbe Army with my short hair. Back then debit cards were not extremely used widespread yet. People had a tendency to carry more actual cash on mitary payday. DDS wasnt even yet mandatory then. So soldiers carried more actual cash on payday back then. I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. They had no idea I was even in the Navy.

@20 Hitcombo According to another comment, the victim attempted to punch the perpetrator after the perpetrator blocked his path. So, I"m assuming that the perpetrator blocked the victim's path because the victim didn't say excuse me while walking past him and bumping into him, angering the victim and provoking him to throw a punch. Subsequently, the perpetrator shot the victim. So, this is a case of a lack of respect on the victim's part and an overreaction on the perpetrator's part.
I live in New York City and am not familiar with Florida's laws, but I believe that Florida does not require citizens to flee when being attacked due to Florida's legal doctrine of Stand Your Ground. Hence, I suspect that the perpetrator will argue in court that he was standing his ground; however, I don't know if such a defense will work for him since he'll have to prove that the victim's attack (i.e. a punch) was an imminent threat to his life.

Was in the Marines and met a few like this in boot camp. A few of them didn't make it past one year before getting kicked out. Popping on drug tests, assault, etc. The drill instructors would always say "you can take the kid out of the hood, but you can't take the hood out of the kid." So true.

Florida is tough on crime. They have the death penalty. If you get arrested doing something like robbery with a gun I believe if on the second arrest prison is your permanent address for life. More States should be tough. Seems to me the tougher you can be that more people will think twice.

I was on a beach with several other marine buddies once. Saw a navy guy and an army guy suddenly start getting in each other's face. Why? Because one of em recognized a gang tattoo the other had that was from a rival gang in their hood. One of the stupidest things I've ever seen.

Other people have been charged for video taping instead of helping and I hope these people do too. I am not sure how much is an under developed sense of humanity or an over developed paranoid protectiveness due to fear of being sued if they do something wrong trying to help. I really hope this family will find a way to move forward and heal from this brush with evil.

Your profession does not automatically mean you are of great character. I've literally served with a soldier that is in Leavenworth for child porn, and others in prison now for murder. Well if someone just pulled a gun and shot a guy I doubt you would throw yourself between them to help. They could have reported it though, but inviting cops around probably would have a negative impact on the person that called, seeing as cops just like to roll up and assume it's the first person they see.

Violation of both state and federal constitution, under the state constitution they may regulate the manner in which you carry, whether open or concealed, but from my interpretation it is a violation to require licenses under the state constitution, and definitely under the federal one.
The Democrats and BLM don't even folow MLK's teachings, MLK said to treat people based on the content of their character not the color of their skin yet the Democrat parrty and BLM's message is to treat people based on the color of their skin and not the content of their character.

This turd was a loose cannon who could have ended up doing much more damage had he been in a combat or training situation and had access to military weaponry.
