In this quick tutorial, Joe at Cableguys walks you through DriveShaper’s controls and features, showing you how to draw creative distortion patterns, design laser-targeted saturation, dial in multiband waveshaping, and more.
Running in ShaperBox 2 (PC/Mac, VST/AU/AAX), DriveShaper is Cableguys’ new rhythmic, dynamic multiband distortion effect. In use by The Chainsmokers, Zedd, CamelPhat, Andrew Scheps, Richard Devine, InsideInfo, Hybrid Minds + more.

I didn’t think much of DS when I first heard of it. “Why do I need another distortion plug in” but it’s so much more nuanced than that. It’s a terrific tool that I add to everything in subtle to not so subtle amount. I love all the Shaper tools. Just invaluable

We've bought several of these plugins recently but haven't got around to installing them yet. We often do covers using plugins but need to sound like vintage gear. If the plugins have long loop periods, let's say 4 or 8 bars, they could be really useful for creating an "analogue" feel. For instance this plugin. Chuck 2 copies, in serial, on a synth insert. Set the the distortion very low on each copy. Use different parameters on each. Set the first to cycle over 4 bars and the second instance over 3. This will give you an overall 12 bar modulation. Wuth the right type of subtle settings you should be able to give the synth track a very warm and fuzzy "analogue mojo".
Cool idea! You can even disable the sync and use it in Hertz mode, so it is free-running like real analogue gear 😉

@@Cableguys Thanks for continuing to offer such good value for money. Every time you add something, it transforms the plugin so much but you only ask a fee when there's a genuine "next version" edition, and even then it's such a small price to pay. Easily one of the best plugins out there too.

Ah you need to download the new ShaperBox installer from your user account, and the new license file (which now contains DriveShaper license). Please start ShaperBox, and there select "Import license"

We're right now working on a update for Curve 2.x (and also FilterShaper 3.x), to make it work well with Big Sur and M1 processors.. to come soon, I hope. Curve 3? Tons of idea for it, let's see..
How about a three oscillator module added to shaper box. With the ability to cross modulate itself with amplitude modulation, frequency modulation, and phase modulation. And while we’re dreaming the ability to blend one curve into another curve similarly to a wave table. Pow, Curve 3.

Please download ShaperBox *and* your new ShaperBox 2 license file from your user account.
To activate DriveShaper, open ShaperBox in your DAW, click the ‘Choose License File’ button and browse to the saved license .zip or .lic file on your hard drive.

ShaperBox2.3 installer exe refuses to run (win10).
I already have v2.1 running TimeShaper.
There's something wrong with the 2.3 installer.
I'd chase it through Tech Support but I'm busy.

@@KozmykJ This happens to me too, AVG antivirus says it's been submiteed to AVG virus lab so it can be analysed, but even after waiting and trying again the next day, the same thing happens. No other plugin has done this before.
@@dancefixmusic I just disabled my Avast for the time it took me to install then re-enabled it afterwards.
I ditched AVG for Avast a long time ago.
AVG was getting in everywhere and being a nuisance.
Wasn't easy to uninstall either, as I recall.
