Layne was without a doubt a great singer, but one cannot forget that Jerry wrote the majority of the lyrichs of this great band, and he is a fantastic guitar player. He is very underrated in my modest opinion. AIC rules. Period

    • @danathor99
      @danathor99 6 лет назад +9

He wrote lots of lyrics. He only composed a couple of sings. he wrote the lyrics To Man In The Box, Sea of Sorrow, Real Thing, and Love Hate Love just off of Facelift.. The latter two I'd say are the best songs in that album

      @emotionallyexhausted1410 5 лет назад +15

@@user-xr8li8sr4n Are you high?? Or by "songs" do you only mean music? Jerry's amazing, and he wrote most of AIC's music, yes. But without lyrics, I'm sure we'd all be asking who the hell was Alice and why was she all chained up.
Credit where it's due, Layne wrote ALL of the lyrics for Man in the Box, Love Hate Love, Confusion, Real Thing, Rain When I Die, Sickman, Junkhead, Dirt, God Smack, Rotten Apple, Nutshell, I Stay Away, Swing on This, Brush Away, Sludge Factory, Again, Shame in You, God Am, So Close, Nothin' Song, Frogs, Get Born Again, and Died.
He wrote both music and lyrics to Head Creeps, Angry Chair and Hate to Feel.
Layne also wrote nearly all the lyrics on Mad Season's Above. Including River of Deceit, Wake Up, X-Ray Mind, Artificial Red, Lifeless Dead, I Don't Know Anything, November Hotel & All Alone. Long Gone Day was co-written by Barret Martin, Mike McCready, Mark Lanegan, and Layne Staley.

That was your heart lost in the dark
    Call off the chase
Walls of thought, strong and high
As my castle crumbles with time
I think of you, oh, yes I do
    Such a crime
You opened fire and your mark was true
You opened fire aim my smiling skull at you
    You opened fire
I live tomorrow, you I'll not follow
As you wallow in a sea of sorrow
    Lines cut across my face
Why you laugh at my disgrace
I'll never know how far to go
    To reach that place
You opened fire and your mark was true
You opened fire aim my smiling skull at you
    You opened fire
I live tomorrow, you I'll not follow
As you wallow in a sea of sorrow
You opened fire and your mark was true
You opened fire aim my smiling skull at you
    You opened fire
I live tomorrow, you I'll not follow
As you wallow in a sea of sorrow
I live tomorrow, you I'll not follow
As you wallow in a sea of sorrow
I live tomorrow, you I'll not follow
As you wallow in a sea of sorrow
I live tomorrow, you I'll not follow
As you wallow in a sea of sorrow

It really is a damper on my day everytime I listen to alice in chains and just think on how much it sucks Layne passed. He was a great vocalist/musician that just got too heavy into drugs. Terribly sad, but at least they left alot of songs behind that can carry on for more generations. RIP Layne

One of the best all time, in my opinion had Layne been able to beat his demon's
that they would easily be as big or bigger than Pearl Jam right now. Although i love P.J. too, AIC always ruled.

We miss you Layne, 10 years that you've been gone. Your fans will never forget you. You were the most talented above all the fucking Cobains and all the 90's frontmans, and one of the greatest in history without any doubt. Tons of love!
