Im a 6' freshmen this is my first yr playing fball just had a game this Friday where I played tight end coach was impressed so I'm supposed to be starting next week
I’m a freshmen and play d-line and it’s my first year but I feel like I’m more faster and built for linebacker and coach said I can start playing next week and I feel like this video gave me more of an understanding of what it’s supposed to be like
I am 5’9” 165 and a sophomore and I am on the verge of getting some more reps on varsity. I can tackle and track the ball pretty well. I struggle with getting blocked by the offensive if line. Do you have any suggestions on how to get off of blitzes. I figure since I play mlb I should sprint and try to beat the line. Do you think this is a good plan or not? I would really appreciate advice, thanks.
Truth about blitzing is that it's done different ways. I've seen linebackers wait a half second then go to where it was open. But realistically that's not what the coach called. You want to use your hands when blitzing so you can disengage blockers
I'm 5'8 160 freshman and as an outside linebacker I keep missing tackles either because the guy gets outside of me or I don't get my feet hot and I end up looking stupid. Thanks for this video, do you have any more tips?
Ok ok but idk when to do certain things like when do I cover receiver and when do I cover tide end and when do I cover linemen or when do I rush or not
I just played my first scrimmage as a linebacker and I used to play d end and for some reason I can’t get make the play when it’s a run to my side I take bad angles or get caught up by a receiver because I’m tryna read the play. Any tips?
@@TheBigBlueParadise_ in terms of defending the run, taking bad angles happen but if they're happening too much is advise that you practice your read steps (first 4 steps). This sounds cheesy but this is important because somewhere in your run defense, you aren't reacting fast enough or you're making missteps and you may be not getting there fast enough. In terms of getting blocked by receivers on blocks, make sure you're aware of your surroundings preplay. If the receivers alignment is closer to you is a high possibility you're gonna get blocked by him. Hopefully these tips helped bro💪🏿
6’1 240 is great for a middle linebacker, but if you are an outside linebacker that might get in the way with stopping a pass if you aren’t super athletic.
Hey man, I’m 9th grade, 230, 5’9. Is that good for A middle linebacker? Or should I stay as a DT. And on top of that, what could I do to be more linebacker potential, if I’m not linebacker potential?
I would have to see what you have but traits of good linebackers are : - being able to stop the run - being able to play good zone coverage in the middle of the field - being able to take on blocks and get to the ball
@@jimmy1890 play somewhere where you know you’re gonna get playing time, and keep getting betting while learning the sport best you can. Once you’re bigger and used to hitting/getting hit, then give it a shot.
Honestly I wouldn’t play Linebacker if you are a receiver and that light. Either you have a growth spurt and get more mass on you, or you are going to get destroyed in later years like varsity high school with running backs that are 5’9+ 180+… I suggest safety if you want to be a more aggressive position. You don’t need to be 180+ at safety to make a tackle or stop a run.

You play outside linebacker or inside linebacker? I want to make sure I can picture the story better before giving advice
@@scottysportperformance I play outside linebacker
