Welcome back to Casually Competitive MTG! We are a group of friends who enjoy playing fast paced semi competitive EDH games. In today’s game we have a matchup between Ruric Thar, the Unbowed; Neheb, the Eternal; Urza, High Lord Artificer; and Chulane, Teller of Tales. **RULES NOTE BELOW (spoilers)**
Had a bit of time to throw together an extra non-seasonal gameplay video, hope you guys enjoy it! This is the final send-off to season 1, but these commanders aren't gone forever. We want to keep the commanders that are showcased varied but we still want to replay some of the more interesting ones. We plan to give commanders at least 2 seasons off before they reappear - but the popular, fun, and interesting ones will definitely make more appearances.
Rules note:
There was a slight mistake with the orders of triggers between Possibility Storm and the Chulane triggers. Since Jordan's Chulane trigger was from the active player at the time, it would have gone on the stack before the Possibility Storm, meaning that the correct order was Possibility Storm Trigger resolves, then 2 Chulane triggers. From what I can tell it doesn't make a major impact with how the game plays out

Jordan was not able to kill himself with mana confluence. But anyone would have allowed it anyway :D

Yeah fair enough. He just wanted to make it as convoluted as possible, no one was really paying too much attention. The EtBs would have finished him off either way

Great Video, there is just one minor request I would like to ask.
Regarding the dice you use, because for me it was impossible to see what Loyalty of Wrenn and Six were at, could you use something like white die with black numbers or die with high contrasting colors.
Would be really nice xDD
I am planning on updating the overlay over the next few weeks, so a better visual representation of counters in general could definitely make it in. I'll keep it in mind for sure!
I like the Chulane explanation at the start followed by referring to him as "commander" for the rest of the game

This is my favorite episode you guys have uploaded! It was awesome and I never thought about how good Ruric Thar and possibility storm are together.
The d20 used for loyalty counters doesn't show up well on camera, that's a minor thing you could improve on :)

So exile till he hits creature, then if he casts it, double Chulane cast trigger

His Opponents lost more life, 6 Dmg to Nate from casting Cyclonic Rift, not just 9 from Combat
After looking into it I believe you are correct. Luckily, due to the nature of the game, I don't think it would have made much of a difference in the game overall, but this is something I wasn't aware of previously and it is good to know for the future

Yeah, the trigger ordering active/non active can sometimes be quite impactful (Living End etbs ex.), and knowing stack is always like this helps alot.

Possibility Storm is an Un-set card; you can't change my mind.
I can understand that completely! It really makes games "unstable."
Un-set cards should be playable in non-competitive EDH. The goal is to have fun, not to try hard.
@@nathanreynaud2967 there would be that one guy to play Rules Lawyer and have The Grand Calcutron as their commander (It's allowed, it just didn't fit on the card. Check the errata.)
@@dyciefisk2535 That's me, I'm that guy. I've played with various unset cards in casual commander, but I had to remove Rules Lawyer because it's frankly an overpowered card when used and abused correctly.
Ok to me, this was the best episode so far. It was nuts!
Awww man I’m so stoked for this episode, Chulane is one of my favorite newer commanders and Neheb was my first EDH deck. This really takes me back!
I like getting a chance to see all of your commanders you have to showcase. It's always awesome to see how the commanders interact with different generals across the table

Weird, unique, but powerful cards with weird, unique, but powerful effects creating weird, unique game-states that people have to try to adapt and play around leads to interesting games that even get the most enthusiastic post-game talk out of the narrator I've heard so far. More than most of the wraps on standard cEDH tables so far at least.

I play the War of the Spark Neheb, it's interesting to see the differences between him and this Neheb which does not have a built in wheel effect but does not have to swing.

Awesome demostration of Ruric!!!! Also, it's a nice interacton between Chulane and Possibility Storm. Hope to see more games like this!!!!
It worth mentioning that Wrenn decide not to kill the aven, in order to keep the other 2 players in check. He even missed some fetches and accepted a swing from the aven.

Possibility Storm is a card you love to see, but hate to play against. Its such a good chaos card
Jsut started brewing a Ruric Thar deck last night, this was the perfect video for me today. I really like the power level of these decks, made for a really fun watch. Keep up the good work guys!
Just to say, I used to pronounce it Choo-laine until I heard your version which looks to be more faithful to the original legend, so it stuck with me and now I pronounce it Juh-len. I know why you decided to switch, but at least I thought I'd let you know that I appreciate your effort to try to be correct. Love the videos! 😄
Hello guys! First of all great game as always =)
I would lik to note some things:
a) Non-Active(NAP)/ Active(AP) players abilitys goes to the stack at the same time, in first instance since Jordan is the Non-Active P. he will resolve his ability first and then Joseph PS trigger. (Well done there)
b) When jordan starts his turn now he's the AP, NAP will resolve first and could affect overall the game as he would draw/reveal different cards.

You can tell Bill was pissed at the Delay by the way he slung his commander at 7:30.
Great game guys, gross combination of cards with ruric and possibility. Thoroughly enjoyed watching this and hope you do continue fan favourite videos in between seasons. Wish I had my animar deck play against that combo though it would be so much fun and so many stupid things would happen.
Haha, when the Urza player is the "do nothing" player, what a game! P.Storm in Ruric is such a good idea! And man, Ferocidon is a real MVP this game. lol

When Bill cast the Vandalblast at 19:03, Joseph's Possibility Storm trigger would go on the stack on top of Nate's Mystic Remora trigger, so Bill could've waited to see what he flipped before deciding whether to pay for Remora. However, 7 spells were cast before the Flusterstorm, so he would've been one mana short of paying for them all anyway. Also, Remora triggers when its controller's opponents cast spells via Possibility Storm, so Nate could've drawn at least 2 more cards that turn.

I was looking forward for mono Red to do some major damage but Ruric Thar came in clutch. I'm loving the games and hope there's way more in the future featuring perfect RED commanders.

You know when you see all three of the one mana green elf druids that tap for a green in a single turn, and by the end of it none of them are on the field.
At 22:13, I think Jordan should have chosen not to play the Elder, he would not have taken the 1 damage from his creature entering and he could have tried to cast another creature to keep digging. He could possibly have done this several times, drawing a card each time and digging deeper and deeper for the right card.
Especially because his 8 or so cards in hand apparently weren't lands

My Ruric Thar deck is my baby, glad it took the W here. Good piloting, Joseph. I like to run Jokulhaups, Decree of Annihilation, and Obliterate in mine. Sprint to 12+ mana, tap out, cast the Jokulhaups followed by Ruric Thar, rudely bludgeon my opponents as they try to rebuild.
If only you could put possibility storm in Chulane!

Why did Joseph not downtick W6 on the mindcensor? Just because it also affects their opponents?
Yeah, I had plenty of lands and it hurt others more than it hurt me. Going 4 deep with a fetch when I could reliably fetch again the next turn felt worth it to deny tutoring from Neheb and Urza

Possibility Storm with Lavinia on the battlefield would have been hilarious! Too bad there's no good Jeskai commanders who can assemble that combo reliably.

This game made me realise just how great Ruric Thar and Chulane would be as 2HG EDH partners, especially with Possibility Storm in play. Also, Joseph, please refer to yourself in the first-person. It's kind of unsettling when you talk about yourself in the third.

possibility storm is so underated. heres hopping that we get a new maelstrom wanderer with possibility storm ability attached to him for the new arcane maelstrom commander deck!

At time ~ 23:29 you said Bill had 9 red mana. Just to clarify, he would have had more mana than that. Neheb checks life lost by opponents, not combat damage dealt. So he would have gotten mana from nates 6 life he lost due to ruric thar
I like the season format. I think there should be a year long format too, with the winners from Theros, Ikoria, Zendikar, and Commander Legends and/or other sets to come out this year have a end of the year bash. Kinda like a 2020 supplementary season
Any chances you guys put together a high level Scarab God deck? I play it as a Zombie Mill variant that is prob a 6-7 between focused and optimized. Looking for tips and what spin you guys would put on it!

22:48 so he decides to take a guaranteed 6, on the off chance of hitting something specific and taking a further 6 for a total of 12, to save himself a 9 damage hit? That's some advanced maths there xD (although sure, there are other things those two Nehebs do as well... still kinda funny to me)
Evacuation would have gotten rid of Ruric Thar (allowing him to counter it when re-cast and start to get back into the game) while also getting rid of both the Neheb triggers for that turn

you know what would be just nuts with possibility storm? Weather the storm you would go 80 life easilly just waiting in the atrition game with a bomb that is ruric thar
