Loved Lewis point of view!!! He's not an audio professional so We can relate to what he's saying much more... he adds a different perspective. Amazing addition! :D
Lewis told the truth from his prospective and his truth was confirmed that different spatial cues have to be encoded into the source material. This is great idea to have actual clients give their prospective because it shows that you guys have no problems daring to be different and more importantly you respect your client’s opinions and it shows that you respect your RUclips Audience as well, bravo guys, bravo. I’ll miss Jay but this will be great.
THD is for testing static repeatable signals ..............not related to dynamic music reproduction . This abberation or lack of knowledge still infects the brains of technicians , many engineers as well as audiophiles . Those measurements are valid but only valid for the test of a signal under test , music is a complete different thing...
I'm quite torn between the possibility of owning , as an end game preamplifier, either the McIntosh C22 or the (less pricey) C8. Do you think the C22 is worth the extra money over the C8? The C8 is clearly the better value but the C22 appears to be a more revealing preamp. My ears are pretty sensitive and discerning to modulations of pitch. I do a lot of focused listening for hours at a time. I appreciate whatever info you can provide. This will be my first ever McIntosh piece of equipment. Thanks, Di-
Yet another great video. I just picked up the C22. Looking for the matching power and I just bumped upon this video. What a timing! Was wondering if you guys did a exclusive review of the MC 462? Could you do one?
Are you happy with the c22? I love the design and that it has balanced outputs and inputs. I’ve never owned a Mac, but have heard they can underperform on detail and soundstage compared to some other comparable brands. These guys even made a video about it.
@@cgwolf3903 I mean it is a flagship product and not a high volume seller, but nevertheless... no love, I think the only video of it on RUclips is the one on my channel that I made of mine...
I would love to know the comparison between the C49 and C22 in sound. I am interested in both and its' too bad they did not get a chance to compare the two. He said they really sound different, but he did not provide any more insight. I am more attracted to the look of the C49 and it has a digital out on it. However we would need to buy a Toppings to play our Tidal/Spotify music with either unit.
Thank you for the great video! Would be interested in a comparison between the McIntosh 462 vs a pair of the 301's. I'm curious about the 301's due to the lower weight.
@@anonymohipp9097 - hey if you can lift Vilip with that gut of his, you could easily lift at least two 462s :))))). On a more serious note, I am pretty sure delivery and installation can be easily arranged with audio excellence.
I was planning on buying the new C8 since I can't really afford the new C22 but then my local dealer offered me their display C52 for the same price as the C8 since they just replaced it with a C53. Do you think it's a better idea to go with the open box C52 instead of the C8? For reference I currently have a C47 and an MC302.
Hey did you decide on the C22 or the C8? I’m in a similar situation. I bought the C8 because at the time I could afford it. Now I am deciding if it’s worth the bump up to the c22. Thanks!
Yes i agree the source material must have the recorded holography data in order to showcase whether a component or system is able to reproduce it. Not all tube amp or tube preamp highlights holographicness in my experience.
Would you recommend using the C2700 tube preamp with the MC611 solid state amp or do all tube and pair it with 2 x MC275 in bridged mode? Would appreciate your thoughts on both options. Thank you!
I love the fact that you get your clients involved and their opinions.
Well done!

Thank you Lewis! Very refreshing to get a point of view from a "normal" person rather than salesmen (sorry guys 😉).
Great job!!! Lewis is a natural....
Lewis is a keeper ;)
I have it's bigger brother... the C1100... such a good pre-amp. Lower THD than many solid state. models.

Thanks guys for your review ,hope you can do a follow up on its MC & MM phono sections. Cheers

What happened?
HA!

Did you initially audition the C8 Preamp as well?
How IYO, did it compare to the C22?
Thanks,
Dave,
Great video! C49 video please please please
Adrian, I really want to know what you think about the difference between C70 and C22 MKV preamps. Have you had a chance to compare them yet?
They're the same
I wouuld love to see a comparison betwene the McIntosh C1100 preamp the new C22 MkV preamp.
I've been asking for their impressions on the C1100 for months now! 😂

@@glichasasha750 Not all of us are as young as Vilip. I love McIntosh gear, but the amps put a bit of stress on geriatric spines.

How about an all McIntosh system review. C49 and C22 with MC462 and XR100 speakers. Your opinion on synergy and sound quality would be enlightening.

What was the "really good streamer DAC behind it" that you were using for this review?
The MSB Discrete DAC with the Powerbase and the streaming module was used to feed the preamp.
Holography is dependent on the source?
Very good idea inviting clients!🤗😇 Better yet, do A/B blind testing with these clients! Tube vs Solid State Mac Amp as an example.😬
As human gets older, he suffers hearing loss that diminishes the ability to hear those high notes which create the holographic sound and soundstage.
Ironic background hiss. 🤦♀️🤩
You brought a NAD dude to talk about Mcintosh??!?(LOL) I will not even go into that vault crap.
