He's a rich guy who tricks the main characters into doing jobs for him, and then he tries to convince Franklin to kill either Michael or Trevor, so he's a pretty good antagonist for the game. He is the only GTA 5 antagonist who potentially could cause the death of a protagonist behind the scenes.

Mendez brothers should've had more of a story or sum cuz knowing them cartels they are more violent and more powerful , Mendez brothers felt more weak for a cartel ngl especially in the 1980's. They had so much potential of being way better than they were. And they are one of the only cartels that we fight in the GTA universe.

Nah Devin was a good antagonist although not at the level of Tenpenny and Dimitri he wasn't that bad he was able to make me hate him so much that It was satisfying when I did the third way ending.

Actually Rider was never supposed to be an antagonist, the voice actor Mc Eiht said he wasn’t getting paid enough so left half way through the project. Rider was supposed to be your friend through the whole game but when he left rock* felt salty and made his character evil.

Devin Weston was a shit antagonist. GTA5 had probably one of the most underbaked stories of the franchise. It was coupled with the specacle and charm of GTA5 which made it stick.
I'm glad someone said it. At the time, I found GTA V epic but overtime, 10 years in fact, the story just isn't great compared to IV's and the game's prior even. GTA V's hook always felt like The Multipath Heists with mini plots in-between.
Gta5 had good characters but an unfocused story. It seemed like the writers were a bit disconnected from one another and didn't communicate well with one another. I think it shows in Trevor's inconsistent character, and how they have so many underdeveloped villians. Whatever the issues were, they had them worked out by the time rdr2 got made, because it doesn't have that problem.

That's why it has villains who are actually just a bunch of pussies hiding behind their power. If you look at it from that angle, it's actually a great satire. GTA 4 took a dark tone. So villains like Dimitri Rascalov were supposed to feel extremely dangerous and evil. GTA San Andreas takes a bit of a serious tone when you think about it. So Tenpenny feels like an evil control freak trying to get Los Santos under his control. GTA 5 is the first time Rockstar went full-on comedy and satire with it's story when in other GTA games, satire was just part of the world and few of the weaker side characters. I don't think people were used to that style of the story when the previous GTA games were completely different.
Especially since he thinks that Devin Weston, one of the weakest and least threatening villains, was "perfect" lmao. Trevor was more of a threat than that dude and he's a protagonist.
Of those I have played, I will always say that the worst of all is Massimo Torini, a character with no weight in the story, who literally appears in like 2 missions including the last one where you kill this "great" antagonist. They don't even know him at home

He tried to kill the characters once in the final mission with merryweather and then Trevor walks across his yard and kidnaps him. He's boring
I'd argue that Steve Heines is the antagonist rather than Devin. Steve actually plays a big role in the main story and d it's mainly because of him that you're doing all the work for the FIB

I love san andreas. Tenpenny and big smoke are both S tier antagonists esepicallu tenpenny, but ryder for me still felt so forced. I know that it was meant to be more fleshed out but i really felt that ryder was a really weak antagonist because of how little impact he had on the overaching story around both big smoke and tenpenny.
Torrini only showed up 2 times in Liberty city stories. Once in a cutscenes where he enters helikopter and later at the end of the game. It felt like hes not really antagonist ngl

Tbh SA was goated for its antagonists.
Devin Weston, you forgot Stretch, Wei Cheng and Steve Haines.
Stretch and Cheng are just minor enemies, devs put them in the final mission just to make it a little longer. Only Heines and Devin are the real antagonists
@@dominicktoretero6212 Yeah, Stretch is barely in the game. He has a few phone calls after missions but you have to know about them and call him so nobody ever hears them. Idk why they didn't make it an automatic call. Cheng effects more but yeah, not as big as Steve or Devin. But they're all antagonists and as this video says, ranking all antagonists.
Now that I actually think of it, a GTA antagonist being really memorable is the exception, not the rule.

I love san andreas. Tenpenny and big smoke are both S tier antagonists esepicallu tenpenny, but ryder for me still felt so forced. I know that it was meant to be more fleshed out but i really felt that ryder was a really weak antagonist because of how little impact he had on the overaching story around both big smoke and tenpenny.

The best GTa antagonist is from LCS. Do you know who that is? That's right, Salvatore's uncle. He's behind every conflict in LSC, he pulled every strings, and only appeared once near the end, just to say "Ok, Salvatore, you win. I will not troll you again"
