The ads quality looks much better, at 4:13 - 4:42 the shadows need to be slightly adjusted to reveal the background better, I think rewriting the Nintendos copyright logos and adding them back is also the only known best way to make them look more modern btw.
Me being 33, this is the first time I've ever seen footage of Spaceworld 2000 in this stunning quality. I'm used to seeing the pixelated washed out footage from two decades ago.

On 0:37 you can see that there are 39849384 cameraman and for some reason in 2024 it's really hard to get a good/clean piece of footage from this event.

Considering that in Japan, keep in mind, RUclips and video platforms didn't exist for a good 4 years or so, and it is very difficult to get copies of the press shows like Spaceworld and such. And even then, many would hold onto it and never share it with the world for many decades after it has happened.

To this day I still wish I could go back to the PS1 when I’d only played a PS1 and GBC, have my memory wiped and get to be excited about all of this all over again.
3:40 It's mind blowing to see flashes from the cameras that were actually taking photos of the presentation. The only photos we saw in magazines almost 24 years ago.
And then we got wind waker with cel shaded graphics... Which is an awesome game and the graphics are very good, but there was quite some backlash before it's release.

I appreciate the upload! The image clarity is great! I just wish you had uploaded the original 4:3 video instead of forcing the 4:3 video to fit in a 16:9 aspect ratio window. RUclips does let us upload 4:3 videos without the black bars on the sides. This video would be way cool on a 4:3 CRT, but this 16:9 window looks bad on a 4:3 display since there's black bars around the entire 4:3 video. Sorry - this is just a pet peve of mine, and a lot of RUclipsrs do it. But either way - thanks for the upload! Something, even if it's not perfect, is better than nothing!
This is so friggin cool. I've always been fascinated by everything at this event in particular. The beta Luigi's Mansion, Super Mario 128. I mean just look at how much Melee took from this event and no one really talks about it. Like Ganondorf in that game is just him from HERE. That's wild!
@@dragonwarriorz1 - I ended up loving Wind Waker but when people bring up that many Zelda fans hated the art style they forget to mention that the fight between Link & Ganondorf at this event is what caused it. People were blown away and expected this so when Wind Waker was revealed it caused alot of disappointment.
Man, the early GameCube controller in this seems to be better than what we got. It even has a braided cable on the physical prototype, although, the D-Pad still seems to be small.

I just find it weird that they were apparently teasing Perfect Dark Zero, right after the original came out. (It took over 5 years for PDZ to actually release, and as we know, it was... not exactly close to the original plans.)
I can see something interesting about Metroid animation now that we have this footage in this stuning quality: Samus is not there. I mean, Samus render aparently was made separated from background, bc her moves, perspective angle and speed when she come out doesnt match with the place and those monsters. Its weird, but fascinant.
This makes me feel so old how was this nearly 25 years ago?!!! I remember seeing the space world trailers for the GameCube and running out to the nearest local video game store to import the console from Japan.

In terms of dedicated gaming hardware, I still think that the GC is probably the most attractive console ever designed, and the GBA is probably the most attractive handheld. 2000 era Nintendo really knocked it out of the park in terms of hardware aesthetics.

Seeing Rogue Squadron on the sizzle reel is awesome. I remember getting the game for Christmas along with a GameCube. Still to this day holds the best graphics than other games at the time on the console.
This new "Game Cube" console will change the world... I know because I read it back in 1999 from a Spanish magazine talking about the "Dolphin" console.
Wow I remember this from back then. I still think the gamecube form factor still looks good today. The Luigi's Mansion and Zelda footage was amazing back then.
Every single new thing that comes out about Mario 128 is bringing us closer and closer to some kind of next “Gigaleak” where we see EVERYTHING, I just know it.
It's amazing how the showcase software shown, at least Luigi's Mansion, Metroid Prime, and the Ganondorf battle, looks comparable to games you'd see in the next generation.

Crazy there are still unreleased N64 games (and games in general) just sitting on old computers never to be released.

it was almost always 60 fps - "archivists" just tend to naively downsample captures to 30fps before uploading

Dang, I wish Perfect Dark was ported to NGC. Imagine it as a 60fps, 4 player split screen game at launch.

That was called Mario-128 and it was the prototype that eventually became Pikmin.
