    Don't they monitor the intake of the anesthesia? Don't they monitor the patient's heart beat? You would think that something would give them a clue.

      It's the paralytic drug they're giving now in surgeries - that's what makes you unable to speak, move or open your eyes to let them know you're awake and need more anesthesia! It needs to be banned.

    I knew someone who had one of their kidneys removed...you can survive on one. She drifted in and out of consciousness, couldn't feel anything but could hear what the surgeons where saying...so she knew what they were doing to her but couldn't feel or move...

      You're lucky you weren't given a paralytic drug. You wouldn't have been able to indicate you were awake and they wouldn't have known you needed more anesthesia. This is happening A LOT lately yet they refuse to stop giving these paralyzing drugs (too lucrative to ban)

Unles you live in a mud hut in the middle of the savanna almost all hospitals use general anaesthetic! Are you talking about a specific surgery?.. I
      There are HUNDREDS of different surgeries performed on feet! From taking out a splinter ..awake of course ...or removing gout from a joint usually done under local anaesthetic...there are cases for example a dislocated toe/ankle where just sedation is used. Then there is AMPUTATION like to think you would be under general anaesthetic !

    Huh......If the patient’s anesthesia is “too light” undoubtedly she was able to hear. However stating she could not open her eyes indicates she was in a paralyzed state. Therefore you would not be able to feel pain. The woman stated she could feel the pain of the cutting. Not sure about that...
    I too had a medical procedure whereas at one point I could hear what was happening. I remember seeing through my eyelids knowing there was a bright light in my eyes. I too could not open them or speak. In my experience it lasted a few seconds, I did not feel anything. Did not feel one bit of pain.

      @@stormcherry6064 i’ve worked in an OR for 18 years. General anesthesia is just that, it’s general for all…
      However conscious sedation is different. You’re actually awake to the procedure, you can follow instructions, we instruct patient to scoot over after the surgery onto a stretcher. Patients remember from waking up in the recovery room after surgery when they were actually awake the whole time…

    Why do they use a paralytic...maybe they shouldn't.
    That's probably why they use a powerful sedative as well ..so that if you DO wake up you won't remember..the anesthesiologist really scrooged up this time!

    • @mikethats4thebirds600
      @mikethats4thebirds600 6 месяцев назад

      That's it, you have hit the very key here -- it's the paralytic drugs that cause this nightmare of waking up but unable to move or talk or even open your eyes to indicate you need more anesthesia. There's no need for them but they refuse to ban them because they're very lucrative.

  • @Thundralight

      Of course it would still occur -- there's a case in court right now where all his vitals were showing he was wide awake but the paralytic drug made him unable to move or speak. They just ignored it.
